ClickUp Brain is the AI layer built into ClickUp's project and productivity workspace. How you pay for it depends on whether your Workspace is on ClickUp's newer plans (where AI is included) or an existing plan that buys Brain as an add-on. This guide walks through what you need, how checkout works, and what to do when a card is declined, using a Coinepay virtual card for the payment.
Before you start, remember you need a Coinepay account with identity verification (KYC) completed. You can create one with https://www.coinepay.net/register and manage everything from the iOS app, the Android app, or the 24/7 dashboard.
What you need before checkout
- A verified Coinepay account with an active virtual card. After issuance you get a card number, expiry date and CVV in your Coinepay app.
- Enough balance on the card to cover the charge. ClickUp Brain plans are charged in USD, and your card issuer may add a foreign-transaction cost, so keep a buffer above the sticker price.
- Your real billing details — name, address and postal/ZIP code exactly as they appear on your Coinepay account. Checkout often verifies the ZIP code.
- Owner or admin access to the ClickUp Workspace you want to upgrade. Billing is managed per Workspace, and only owners and admins can change it.
One important note on accepted cards: ClickUp's card-management guide lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover credit or debit cards, and states that PayPal and prepaid debit cards are not accepted. Because card product details can affect eligibility, contact Coinepay support through https://chat.coinepay.uk/ to confirm your card meets this requirement before you buy.
Step 1: Create or sign in to your ClickUp Workspace
Signing up on the ClickUp website creates a Free Forever Workspace, which needs no card. You can register with an email and password (this includes an email verification step) or sign in with Google. Free Forever is a good way to set up your Workspace and invite members first, then upgrade when you are ready.
Step 2: Choose the right plan or add-on
ClickUp is moving to new plans where AI is included. At the time of writing (October 2026), the new plans are Free Forever, Core, Business, Business Plus, Max and Enterprise. The pricing page showed Core at $9, Business at $17 and Max at $100 per user/month billed yearly, with Enterprise custom-priced; Business Plus appeared in Help without a public price. Prices vary by region and can change, so always confirm on the official ClickUp pricing page before paying.
Workspaces still on existing plans (Free Forever, Unlimited, Business, Business Plus, Enterprise) keep their current plan and buy AI separately as the Brain AI or Everything AI add-on. The pricing page showed $9 and $28 per user/month for these on October 19, 2026, but confirm the exact checkout total in your own Workspace, as it is charged for all Workspace members, not just the person using Brain.
If you need extra AI usage, the pricing page also listed AI Super Credits at $10 per 10,000 credits at the time of writing.
ClickUp notes that prices shown in a non-USD local currency are conversions and upgrades are charged in USD. Treat local-currency amounts as estimates and expect the final charge in USD.
Step 3: Add your Coinepay card and check out
For a plan upgrade (new plans with AI included):
- As owner or admin, open the plan upgrade for your Workspace.
- In the order summary, choose monthly or yearly billing.
- Enter your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry and CVV, plus your billing address and ZIP code.
- Click Upgrade to confirm. (Enterprise sends you to Sales instead of self-serve checkout.)
For an existing-plan Brain AI add-on:
- Click your Workspace avatar, then go to Settings → Plans → Add-ons.
- Choose Add to plan next to Brain AI.
- Confirm your payment details and billing cycle.
- Click Upgrade to complete the purchase.
To review or update the card later, go to your Workspace avatar, then Settings → Billing → Billing tab, where owners and admins can manage saved cards.
Step 4: Complete 3-D Secure if prompted
Your payment may trigger a 3-D Secure confirmation. Approve it in your Coinepay app or follow the prompt shown so the charge can be authorised. Keep the app handy during checkout so you do not miss the request and time out.
Troubleshooting a declined card
ClickUp shows owners and admins an in-app payment-issue message when a charge fails. Its troubleshooting list covers incorrect or expired card details, insufficient funds, a frozen or inactive card, an incorrect default card, and ZIP-code-entry problems. Work through these common causes:
Insufficient balance
The charge is in USD and may include a foreign-transaction cost. Top up your Coinepay card so the available balance comfortably exceeds the plan or add-on total, then retry. Remember add-ons bill for every Workspace member, so the total can be larger than you expect.
Billing address or ZIP mismatch
If the address or postal code you type does not match what is on file for the card, the payment can be refused. Open your Coinepay app, copy your billing address and ZIP code exactly, and re-enter them at ClickUp checkout.
3-D Secure not completed
A missed or cancelled 3-D Secure step shows as a decline. Start the payment again and approve the verification in your Coinepay app promptly.
Card type or region checks
ClickUp excludes prepaid debit cards and PayPal, so a card flagged as prepaid can be rejected regardless of balance. Confirm with Coinepay support that your card meets ClickUp's requirement. Separately, one India-based user reported the message "Declined: Your bank didn't accept this transaction", which points to an issuer-side block rather than a balance problem. If you see an issuer decline, contact Coinepay support to check whether the card can authorise this merchant.
Service availability
ClickUp lists Cuba, Hong Kong, Iran, North Korea, Russia and Syria among places where Brain AI features are unavailable, and broader service restrictions also cover the Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine. Use your real location and billing details; do not attempt to bypass regional checks.
Billing, cancellation and refunds
To change a plan, go to Settings → Billing → Downgrade or Change plan → Cancel plan; ClickUp's help says a downgrade takes effect at the end of the billing cycle. To cancel an existing Brain AI add-on, open Plans → Add-ons and choose Cancel → Yes, cancel add-on; auto-renewal stops and paid features remain through the current cycle.
ClickUp's terms describe a 30-day satisfaction guarantee for eligible first purchases and newly purchased upgrades, with exclusions (for example renewals, expansions, and sales-assisted or reseller purchases). The terms also require notice of an annual-plan downgrade or cancellation at least 30 days before renewal, so set a reminder if you are on yearly billing. Review the current ClickUp terms for the exact conditions.
ClickUp has said any notified price updates for existing Workspaces begin no earlier than January 2027, applied at renewal rather than mid-term. Keep an eye on in-app notices so a renewal charge does not surprise your card.
Keep your Coinepay card ready
Topping up before renewal and keeping your billing details current are the simplest ways to avoid a failed charge. You can monitor balance, transactions and 3-D Secure prompts in the Coinepay app at any time, and reach the team via https://chat.coinepay.uk/ or https://t.me/coinepay_bank if a payment needs a closer look. FAQ
Can I use a Coinepay virtual card to pay for ClickUp Brain?
ClickUp accepts Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover credit or debit cards and does not accept PayPal or prepaid debit cards. Because card eligibility depends on the card's details, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement before you buy.
Is ClickUp Brain a separate purchase or included in the plan?
It depends on your Workspace. New plans (Core, Business, Business Plus, Max, Enterprise) include AI. Workspaces still on existing plans buy it as the Brain AI or Everything AI add-on via Settings → Plans → Add-ons, charged for all Workspace members.
Why was my card declined at ClickUp checkout?
Common causes include insufficient balance, a billing address or ZIP code that doesn't match, an incomplete 3-D Secure step, an incorrect default card, or a prepaid/issuer restriction. Top up, re-enter exact billing details, approve verification, and contact Coinepay support if an issuer decline persists.
Will I be charged in US dollars?
Yes. ClickUp says non-USD prices are conversions and upgrades are charged in USD, and your card issuer may add a foreign-transaction cost. Keep enough balance on your Coinepay card to cover the total plus any such cost.
How do I cancel ClickUp Brain or get a refund?
Cancel a plan under Settings → Billing → Downgrade or Change plan → Cancel plan, or cancel a Brain AI add-on in Plans → Add-ons. ClickUp's terms describe a 30-day satisfaction guarantee for eligible first purchases and require at least 30 days' notice before an annual renewal; check the current terms.
