You can enter a Coinepay virtual card as a card payment method when booking an eligible Airbnb stay. Before you confirm, check the full price, when Airbnb will charge you, and the listing’s cancellation policy. Airbnb decides which payment methods are available for each booking, so a successful payment cannot be assumed in advance.

What you need before booking

  • A Coinepay account: Register and complete identity verification before using card services. You can get started with Coinepay and manage your card in its self-service dashboard or mobile app. Coinepay provides a virtual card number, expiry date and CVV.
  • An Airbnb account: Creating one is free. Airbnb offers sign-up by email and password, phone, Google or Apple; it also offers Naver in South Korea. Be ready to complete Airbnb’s identity verification for a booking.
  • Accurate personal and billing details: Use your real name and the billing details associated with your payment method. Check the address and postal code carefully rather than substituting details from the location of the stay.
  • Enough available funds: Review the complete checkout amount, including taxes and fees, and allow for any later scheduled payment you agree to. If you need to check funding options or card details, use the Coinepay app or contact Coinepay support.

Airbnb does not require a paid guest subscription to book a stay. Hosts set listing prices, so the amount you pay depends on the property, dates, guest count and applicable fees and taxes. Check the listing and Airbnb’s Price breakdown for the actual total.

How to sign up and pay for an Airbnb stay

  1. Prepare your card. After completing Coinepay registration and identity verification, open your card details in the Coinepay dashboard or app. Keep the card number, expiry date and CVV private.
  2. Create or sign in to your Airbnb account. Use Airbnb’s official site or app, follow its account prompts, and complete any identity checks it requests. Enter your real guest details.
  3. Choose a home and dates. Open the listing, set your check-in and checkout dates and guest count, and review the house rules and cancellation policy. Select Reserve to continue.
  4. Review the checkout. Open Price breakdown to see the total, including applicable fees and taxes. Check the payment timing shown for this particular reservation; not every booking offers the same options.
  5. Enter your Coinepay card details. If card payment is offered, enter the number, expiry date, CVV and the requested billing information exactly as applicable to your card. Review the final amount and complete any payment authentication Airbnb requests. Do not use another person’s identity or an invented billing address.
  6. Submit the booking. Depending on the listing, Confirm and pay books immediately, while Request to book sends the request to the host for approval. Check Airbnb for the resulting reservation status rather than assuming a submitted request is confirmed.

For an Instant Book reservation, Airbnb normally charges immediately. For a reservation request, it normally charges when the host accepts. There is a specific exception for guests paying in Indian rupees: Airbnb charges when they request to book and refunds the payment if the request is declined or expires. Once confirmed, find your receipt under Trips → stay → Payment info.

Check whether you are paying now or later

Some eligible stays offer Pay Part Now, Part Later or Reserve Now, Pay Later. Airbnb shows the amounts and due dates at checkout; neither option adds an Airbnb fee, although the reservation price can still include applicable taxes and other fees. Do not rely on a later payment date unless that option actually appears for your booking.

Airbnb’s scheduled-payment eligibility includes stays of fewer than 28 nights, check-in generally at least 14 days away, and at least US$50 remaining after credits. Services and Experiences do not qualify, and additional restrictions can apply. If you select a scheduled option, note the due dates and make sure your payment method can cover each charge. To review upcoming Airbnb payments, go to Trips → reservation → Get receipts and manage payments → Upcoming.

You can also add a guest payment method on Airbnb desktop through Menu → Account settings → Payments → Add payment method. In some countries, including India and Brazil, a payment method may need to be entered at checkout instead of saved to the account. A method linked to a pending or active reservation generally cannot be removed, so check that you have selected the card you intend to use before submitting the booking.

Why was the card declined?

A decline message does not, by itself, identify which company or check caused the problem. Review the following possibilities without repeatedly submitting unchanged details:

  • Insufficient available funds: Compare the available amount shown in Coinepay with Airbnb’s full checkout total, not just the nightly rate. If you chose scheduled payments, check the amount due for the current charge. Ask Coinepay support if you need help understanding the card’s available amount or funding options.
  • Billing information mismatch: Airbnb documents the message “Postal code must match your bank’s records”. Re-enter your real billing details and correct typing errors. Do not replace them with the address of the Airbnb listing unless that is genuinely your billing address.
  • Authentication did not complete: Airbnb may display “Looks like your bank declined the payment” after card authentication fails. If you receive a 3-D Secure or other verification prompt, follow the on-screen steps and return to Airbnb to check the outcome. If you cannot complete the prompt, contact Coinepay support with the time and amount of the attempt; Airbnb support can help review the booking-side error.
  • Transaction or region checks: Airbnb also documents “Do not honor” and “Payment Error: Amount is too large”. Transaction limits, currency restrictions or unusual-activity checks may be involved, but the message alone cannot establish the cause. Payment options can vary by country and booking. Use your real location and billing information, check which methods Airbnb offers at checkout, and ask the relevant support team to review the specific attempt. Do not try to bypass a regional restriction.

If a card still fails, record the exact error, booking amount and time before contacting support. Check that the booking is not already confirmed in Trips before trying again. Airbnb’s available payment methods differ by location; contact Airbnb if the checkout does not offer the card-payment option you expected.

Review cancellation terms before you confirm

The cancellation policy belongs to the specific Airbnb reservation, not to the card used to pay. For standard home stays of 27 nights or fewer, Airbnb lists a 24-hour full-refund window after confirmation when booked at least seven days before check-in, subject to exceptions. Its standard short-stay policies include Flexible, Moderate, Limited and Firm, each with different deadlines. Read the policy shown for your listing before paying.

If you cancel within the reservation’s free-cancellation period, Airbnb says the guest service fee is refunded. Eligible refunds normally return to the original payment method; when they appear depends on the payment method and bank. Keep access to your Coinepay account and save your Airbnb receipt and cancellation confirmation if you need to follow up.
