ActiveCampaign is a marketing automation and email platform, and paying for it means setting up a recurring card charge in your chosen billing currency. This guide walks through what you need, how the sign-up and checkout flow works, and what to check if a card is declined. You can create and manage a Coinepay virtual card entirely from the dashboard or mobile app, with an instant card number, expiry date and CVV.
Before you start: what you need
To subscribe to ActiveCampaign you will need a verified Coinepay account, an active virtual card with available balance, and your real billing details (name, address and country) matching the information on your Coinepay profile. A few things worth knowing up front:
- Complete KYC first. Coinepay requires identity verification before card services can be used. Register and finish verification at the Coinepay sign-up page before you try to check out.
- Important payment-method restriction. ActiveCampaign's accepted payment options state that monthly and yearly subscriptions take Mastercard, Visa, American Express and PayPal, and that prepaid cards are not accepted. Because card attributes vary, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets ActiveCampaign's requirement before you buy.
- Choose your currency carefully. ActiveCampaign supports billing in USD, BRL, CAD, AUD, EUR and GBP, and a paid account's chosen currency cannot be changed later. Note that PayPal is unavailable for BRL payments.
Step 1: Create your Coinepay virtual card
Log in to the Coinepay dashboard or open the app (iOS / Google Play), create a virtual card, and add funds so the balance comfortably covers your first ActiveCampaign charge plus any small verification hold. Copy the card number, expiry date and CVV, and note the billing address associated with the card. Keeping the balance topped up matters because ActiveCampaign subscriptions renew automatically and a failed charge can lead to suspension until payment is processed.
Step 2: Sign up and start the free trial
ActiveCampaign offers a 14-day free trial that requires email verification but does not require a credit card. An expired trial is not charged unless you manually upgrade, so you can explore the product first and add your card only when you decide to subscribe. Use your real name and details when registering.
During sign-up you will pick an Email plan tier. The pricing page lists Starter, Plus, Pro and Enterprise (the help center refers to Pro as Professional). If you want WhatsApp Messaging, that has its own Core, Advanced and Premium tiers and can be bought on its own or paired with a Plus, Professional or Enterprise Email plan.
Step 3: Choose a plan and reach checkout
Pricing depends on your contact count, currency and billing cadence. At the time of writing (October 2026), ActiveCampaign's U.S. reference pages listed starting monthly prices for 1,000 contacts of Starter around $15, Plus $49, Pro $79 and Enterprise $145, but these may not reflect live checkout amounts and prices vary by region. Always confirm the current figure on the official ActiveCampaign pricing page before you commit.
For an Email plan upgrade from a trial or existing account, an authorized user goes to profile → Billing & Upgrade → Upgrade, selects the tier and then confirms. For a WhatsApp or combined Email-and-WhatsApp purchase, the flow is: select your contacts and currency, choose a tier, customize the plan and billing cadence, continue to the details page, then select Complete purchase.
Step 4: Enter your Coinepay card details
At the payment step, enter the card number, expiry date and CVV from your Coinepay card. For the billing name and address, use the details that match your Coinepay account exactly. Review the plan, currency and renewal cadence one more time, then confirm. If your bank or Coinepay triggers a 3-D Secure check, approve it in the app or via the confirmation prompt to complete the charge.
To review or change your payment method later, go to profile → Billing & Upgrade, where an authorized admin can select Edit payment method.
Troubleshooting: why a card gets declined
If your payment does not go through, work through these common causes before retrying. ActiveCampaign does not publish a fixed list of decline messages, so focus on the underlying reasons.
Insufficient balance
Your Coinepay card must hold enough to cover the full subscription amount in the selected currency, plus any temporary authorization hold. Top up in the Coinepay app and try again. Remember that renewals recur, so keep the balance funded ahead of each billing date.
Billing address or name mismatch
Many declines come from a mismatch between the billing details entered at ActiveCampaign checkout and those on file for the card. Make sure the name, address and country match your Coinepay profile precisely, then resubmit.
3-D Secure not completed
If a verification step appears and is not approved, the charge fails. Keep your Coinepay app handy to approve the authentication prompt, then retry the payment.
Prepaid-card and card-type restriction
ActiveCampaign states that prepaid cards are not accepted and lists Mastercard, Visa and American Express as supported networks. If your payment is refused on these grounds, do not try to work around it. Instead, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets ActiveCampaign's requirement, or reach ActiveCampaign Customer Experience about alternatives.
Currency and region factors
Confirm you selected a supported billing currency (USD, BRL, CAD, AUD, EUR or GBP) and that your use is permitted where you are. ActiveCampaign's terms bar service where prohibited by law and specifically name Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria and Crimea, along with sanctioned persons. Coinepay likewise does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of comprehensively sanctioned jurisdictions.
Billing page won't load
If the billing page itself is inaccessible so you cannot save a card, that is a platform issue rather than a decline. Try a different browser, clear your cache, or contact ActiveCampaign Customer Experience.
If the terms consider a payment method unverifiable, invalid or otherwise unacceptable, your account can be suspended until payment is processed. Resolve any decline promptly to keep your automations running.
Managing, cancelling and refunds
A Primary Admin cancels at Billing & Upgrade → Edit payment method → Cancel my account, finishing with Confirm cancellation; "Commit annually pay monthly" customers must contact Customer Experience. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current subscription period, and inactivity alone does not cancel a subscription.
ActiveCampaign runs a 30-day money-back promotion (English terms cite a February 4, 2026 start) for eligible first-time paid subscribers: cancel and submit a support-ticket refund request referencing the guarantee within 30 days of purchase. Exclusions include one-time purchases, SMS and WhatsApp credits, and third-party subscriptions.
Downgrades require contacting Customer Experience. Wire transfer or check is only offered for annual plans over US$2,500 (or equivalent) and must be arranged directly with ActiveCampaign; neither is recurring.
Keep your Coinepay card healthy
For smooth renewals, maintain a buffer on the card, watch for ActiveCampaign billing emails, and update your payment method in Coinepay and at ActiveCampaign if you rotate cards. For anything specific to your card's features or eligibility, check the Coinepay app or reach out via support or Telegram. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions, and some services are not available in every jurisdiction.

FAQ
Can I use a Coinepay virtual card to pay for ActiveCampaign?
You can enter a Coinepay virtual card at ActiveCampaign checkout, but ActiveCampaign states it accepts Mastercard, Visa, American Express and PayPal and does not accept prepaid cards. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement before you buy.
Does ActiveCampaign require a card to start the free trial?
No. The 14-day free trial requires email verification but not a credit card, and an expired trial is not charged unless you manually upgrade. You only add your card when you choose to subscribe.
Which currencies can I be billed in?
ActiveCampaign supports USD, BRL, CAD, AUD, EUR and GBP. A paid account's chosen currency cannot be changed later, so pick carefully. Note that PayPal is unavailable for BRL payments.
Why was my card declined at ActiveCampaign checkout?
Common causes are insufficient balance, a billing name or address that doesn't match your card profile, an uncompleted 3-D Secure check, or the prepaid/card-type restriction. Fix the detail in question and retry, and contact Coinepay support if you need to confirm your card type.
How do I get a refund after subscribing?
Eligible first-time paid subscribers can use the 30-day money-back promotion by cancelling and submitting a support-ticket refund request that references the guarantee within 30 days. One-time purchases, SMS/WhatsApp credits and third-party subscriptions are excluded.
