To send money from abroad to a Zamtel Kwacha account, first check whether Zamtel wallet delivery is available for your transfer in the Coinepay app. Zamtel currently calls its consumer wallet Zamtel Money; you may also see the name Zamtel Mobile Money. It is used in Zambia, where the wallet currency is the Zambian kwacha (ZMW). This guide covers the recipient details to collect, the steps to send, and what to check if the money does not appear.

What to ask the recipient for

Before starting, ask the recipient to confirm that they have an active Zamtel Money wallet and can receive a transfer into it. Collect these details directly from them:

  • Wallet identifier: Their registered Zamtel Money phone number, or an account ID if that is what the payout form requests. Ask them to read it from their wallet information rather than relying on an old contact entry.
  • Full registered name: Their first and last names exactly as registered with the wallet. Check the spelling and order of any additional names the form asks for.

Zambia’s country calling code is +260. When entering a phone number, follow the format shown in the Coinepay app: a form with a separate country-code field may expect a different entry from one that asks for the complete international number. Do not change the number or substitute someone else’s wallet to get past a validation message. A phone number alone does not tell you whether its wallet is active or eligible to receive a payout; confirm that with the recipient.

It also helps to ask the recipient whether they have completed any identity-verification steps requested by Zamtel Money and whether their wallet has room for the expected payment. Zambia’s e-money rules provide for risk-based verification levels and wallet transaction and balance limits. The applicable conditions can depend on the wallet’s verification level, so the recipient should check their current status with Zamtel rather than assuming every wallet can receive the same amount.

How to send to a Zamtel Money wallet with Coinepay

  1. Open Coinepay Global Remittance. Sign in through the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard and start a cross-border transfer. If you are new, register with Coinepay and complete any identity verification requested.
  2. Select Zambia as the destination. Enter the amount you want to send or the amount the recipient should receive, according to the fields available. Check the displayed receiving currency before moving on.
  3. Choose mobile-wallet delivery. Look for a Zamtel Money or Zamtel Mobile Money payout option. Select it only if it appears for your transfer. Do not select another wallet provider merely because the recipient’s phone number is in Zambia. If Zamtel is not offered, check the other payout methods shown in the app or contact Coinepay support before paying.
  4. Enter the recipient’s details. Use their full name exactly as registered and enter the registered phone number or account ID requested by the form. Compare every digit with the details the recipient supplied.
  5. Review before confirming. Check the destination, payout method, recipient name, wallet identifier and amounts. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm, along with an estimated arrival time. If anything is wrong or unclear, go back and correct it before submitting.
  6. Confirm and track. Submit the transfer only when the review is accurate. Keep its reference and follow the status in Coinepay’s transfer tracking. Share the reference with the recipient only when they need it to help investigate a payment.

Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may request documents explaining the payment’s purpose or source of funds. Respond through the requested channel with accurate information. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions.

How the recipient receives the money

With mobile-wallet delivery, the payment is directed to the selected Zamtel Money wallet, not to a bank account or a cash-pickup counter. Once the transfer shows as delivered, the recipient can check their wallet balance and transaction activity using *115# or the My Zamtel app. They should check the wallet linked to the number or account ID you entered, rather than a different Zamtel account they may also use.

If the recipient wants physical cash, that is a separate step after wallet delivery. Zamtel agents provide wallet cash-out services; the recipient should check Zamtel’s current withdrawal requirements and charges before visiting an agent. A transfer to the wallet should not be described or selected as a cash-pickup payout.

Coinepay transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual delivery time depends on the payout method and destination country. Use the estimated arrival time shown in the app before confirmation and the transfer’s tracked status afterward, rather than assuming that a particular Zamtel payment will arrive within a set period.

If the transfer is delayed or the wallet cannot receive it

Start with the Coinepay transfer status. A payment that is still under review needs a different response from one marked delivered but missing from the recipient’s wallet. Keep the transfer reference, and ask the recipient to check their wallet activity before reporting a missing payment.

  • Wrong number or account ID: Compare the submitted identifier against the recipient’s registered wallet details. If you have already confirmed the transfer, report the mistake to Coinepay support promptly and provide the reference. Ask the recipient to contact Zamtel as appropriate. Do not assume an incorrect payout can be reversed.
  • Name mismatch: Ask the recipient to confirm their name as registered with Zamtel Money, including its spelling. If it differs from what you entered, contact support about the existing transfer instead of repeatedly submitting new ones.
  • Wallet limit reached: A wallet may be unable to accept a payment because of its current balance, applicable transaction conditions or verification level. The recipient should ask Zamtel what applies to their wallet, while you check the transfer status with Coinepay.
  • Unverified or ineligible wallet: Ask the recipient to confirm with Zamtel that their wallet is active, appropriately verified and able to receive the intended payment. Do not use another person’s wallet to work around a restriction.
  • Compliance review: If Coinepay asks for identity, purpose-of-payment or source-of-funds information, provide genuine documents and wait for the review outcome shown through the service. Do not split or reroute a payment to avoid a check.

If Coinepay marks the transfer delivered but the recipient cannot find it through *115# or the My Zamtel app, report the discrepancy to Coinepay with the reference and the recipient details submitted. The recipient can also raise it with Zamtel customer care. For a missing payment, mistaken recipient or disputed charge, report the issue promptly; an investigation or reversal is not guaranteed to recover the funds.

Check availability before you rely on wallet delivery

Mobile-wallet payout options can differ by destination and transfer route. Selecting Zambia does not by itself mean Zamtel Money will appear: confirm the named payout method in Coinepay before entering recipient details or making plans around delivery. If it is unavailable, the app may show another supported local payout method, such as bank deposit or cash pickup. Choose an alternative only if the recipient can use it and you have the correct details for that method.

You can manage and track transfers in Coinepay’s 24/7 self-service dashboard or mobile app, available for iOS and Android. For a question about a specific transfer or available payout option, contact Coinepay support with the transfer reference if you have one.

FAQ

Is Zamtel Kwacha the same as Zamtel Money?

Zamtel calls its consumer wallet Zamtel Money. You may also encounter Zamtel Kwacha or Zamtel Mobile Money as names for the service or payout option in Zambia.

What details do I need to send to a Zamtel Money wallet?

Ask for the recipient’s full name exactly as registered and their registered wallet phone number or account ID, depending on what the Coinepay payout form requests.

What if Zamtel Money does not appear as a payout option?

Do not select a different wallet provider for a Zamtel recipient. Check the other payout methods offered for your transfer or contact Coinepay support before confirming.

How can the recipient check whether the money arrived?

The recipient can check their Zamtel Money balance and activity through *115# or the My Zamtel app. If Coinepay shows delivery but the payment is missing, report it with the transfer reference.

Can a Zamtel Money wallet reject a transfer because of its limits?

Yes. Wallet balance and transaction conditions can depend on the recipient’s verification level. The recipient should check their current wallet status with Zamtel; the sender should check the transfer status with Coinepay.
