Sending money from Malaysia to Indonesia starts with choosing how the recipient will receive it. Coinepay Global Remittance supports this route, with bank deposit, mobile wallet and cash pickup as payout methods. This guide explains the details to collect, how to review an Indonesian rupiah (IDR) payout, and what to do if the transfer needs attention.
What you need before sending
Register for a Coinepay account and complete identity verification before making a transfer. You can use the Coinepay registration page, then manage the transfer in the self-service dashboard or mobile app. Use your real identity and accurate transaction information. Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations; Coinepay may request documents explaining the purpose of the payment or source of funds.
Ask the recipient for their full legal name as it appears on their bank or wallet account, or on the identification they will present for cash pickup. Collect the details for the payout method they prefer before you begin. Do not substitute a nickname or guess an account number from an old receipt.
- Bank deposit: Get the bank name and Indonesian account number, and confirm that the beneficiary name matches the bank’s records. If the transfer form requests a bank code or SWIFT/BIC, ask the recipient or receiving bank for the correct code.
- Mobile wallet: Get the wallet provider and the phone number registered to the recipient’s wallet, including Indonesia’s +62 country code when requested. Confirm that the wallet can receive the intended payout.
- Cash pickup: Check the recipient’s legal name and whether they can visit an available pickup location with acceptable government-issued identification. Follow the pickup instructions shown for your transfer.
Indonesia’s local currency is IDR. A sender in Malaysia may be able to pay in Malaysian ringgit (MYR) for an IDR payout; select from the funding and payout currencies offered in your Coinepay transfer form rather than assuming every combination is available.
Choose the right payout method in Indonesia
Bank account deposit
For a bank deposit, enter the recipient’s bank name, full legal beneficiary name and account number exactly as supplied. Indonesian payouts use an account number, not an IBAN: Indonesia has no national IBAN format. Do not enter an IFSC, CLABE or US routing number in place of the Indonesian account number. Account-number formats differ by bank and account type, so check the number with the recipient instead of adding or removing digits to make it fit.
Indonesian banks include BRI, BNI, BCA and Bank Mandiri. If the payout form asks for a SWIFT/BIC, use the code confirmed by the recipient’s bank; a SWIFT/BIC may be relevant to a direct international bank transfer, but it is not a substitute for the beneficiary’s account number. For example, BCA’s published inward-remittance instructions specify a 10-digit account number, the registered beneficiary name, a transaction purpose and SWIFT code CENAIDJA. Bank Mandiri publishes SWIFT code BMRIIDJAXXX and requires the beneficiary name to match its records. These examples do not mean every Coinepay bank payout asks for SWIFT: complete the fields shown in the app and verify any bank code it requests.
Mobile wallet
Mobile wallets used for Indonesian payouts include DANA, GoPay, OVO and ShopeePay. Check the Coinepay transfer form to see which wallets are available for your recipient and transfer. Choose the correct provider and enter the recipient’s registered phone number as requested, typically with the +62 country code. Ask the recipient to confirm that their wallet is active and able to receive a payout; its verification status or the wallet provider’s rules may affect receipt. A phone number for one wallet should not be used for another without checking with the recipient.
Cash pickup
Cash pickup is useful when the recipient prefers to collect funds rather than receive a bank or wallet credit. Select an available pickup option in the Coinepay transfer form and review the location, payout currency and instructions displayed before confirming. Tell the recipient to bring government-issued identification bearing the same legal name used for the transfer, along with any transfer reference or collection details Coinepay instructs you to share. Ask them to check the pickup instructions before travelling; location requirements can differ.
How to send money from Malaysia to Indonesia
- Sign in to Coinepay. Open the self-service dashboard or the Coinepay app. If you have not completed registration and identity verification, do that first.
- Set up a transfer. Choose Indonesia as the destination, select the available sending currency and choose IDR as the recipient currency if that is how you want the recipient paid. Enter the amount using the options shown.
- Select the payout method. Choose bank deposit, an available Indonesian mobile wallet or cash pickup. Enter the recipient’s full legal name and the account number, wallet details or pickup information requested on screen.
- Review before confirming. Check the recipient’s name, payout details, amount and currency. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm the transfer. Read that review carefully, including the amount the recipient is shown to receive and any instructions or document requests.
- Confirm and follow the status. Confirm only when the details are correct. Use the transfer’s status tracking in your Coinepay dashboard or app to follow its progress. If it is a cash pickup, share only the collection information the recipient needs, through a trusted channel.
Coinepay also offers its mobile app for iOS and Android. Whichever way you start, keep your transfer record so you can refer to it if the recipient or support needs to check the payment.
What the recipient should check
For a bank payout, the recipient should confirm that the account remains open, can receive the payment and is registered under the name you entered. The receiving bank may require accurate sender, beneficiary and transaction-purpose information. It may also ask the recipient for supporting information under its own procedures. If the payment is for a business transaction, the recipient should retain relevant invoices or other records; export receipts can be subject to requirements different from ordinary personal remittances.
For a wallet payout, the recipient should check the registered phone number, wallet provider and any verification requirements in that wallet. For cash pickup, they should follow the location’s identification and collection instructions. If a bank or payout provider asks questions about the payment, answer truthfully and provide genuine documents. Do not ask someone else to receive it to avoid a check.
Troubleshooting a transfer
The recipient details are wrong
If you notice a misspelled legal name, incorrect account number, wrong wallet phone number or mismatched payout method, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly. Include the transfer reference and explain what needs correcting. Do not assume details can be changed after confirmation or send a replacement before checking what happened to the first transfer.
The transfer is under review or taking longer than expected
Check the status in your dashboard or app for any action requested. Identity, sanctions, source-of-funds or transaction-purpose checks can require more information. Sender-side processing, currency conversion, receiving-bank processing, weekends and public holidays can also affect progress. Provide requested documents through the channel Coinepay specifies; support can help explain the next step shown for your transfer.
The payout is rejected or returned
A receiving bank may reject incorrect beneficiary details, and a payout can sometimes be rejected even when the information appears correct. A wallet’s verification status or provider rules can also prevent receipt. Check the status and any stated reason, confirm the details with the recipient, then contact support before trying again. If the transfer is being returned, follow the status in Coinepay rather than assuming a new transfer will resolve the underlying issue.

Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees during transfer review, before you confirm. Check the recipient amount and payout details there as well.
