Coinepay Global Remittance supports transfers from Malaysia to Bangladesh. You can choose an available bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup option for your recipient, then review the exchange rate and fees before confirming. This guide explains what to prepare, how to send the transfer and what to check if it needs attention.
What you need before sending
Start with a Coinepay account in your real name and complete the identity verification requested in the app. If you have not registered, use the Coinepay registration page. Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may ask for supporting documents, including information about the transfer’s purpose or the source of funds.
Ask the recipient for their full legal name exactly as it appears on their bank or wallet account, or on the identity document they will use for cash pickup. You will also need the payout details for your chosen method. Check those details directly with the recipient rather than copying an old account number or sending to someone else’s account.
- For bank deposit: Ask for the recipient’s account number, bank name and branch details. The transfer form may also request a Bangladesh bank routing code or, where applicable, a SWIFT/BIC. Use the fields shown in Coinepay and confirm the required codes with the recipient’s bank.
- For a mobile wallet: Ask for the wallet provider, the mobile number registered to the wallet and the account holder’s legal name.
- For cash pickup: Confirm the recipient’s legal name and any other details requested for the selected pickup option. The recipient will need an acceptable identity document and any pickup reference or instructions provided after the transfer is arranged.
Bangladesh’s local currency is the Bangladeshi taka (BDT). Select the currencies available for your transfer in the app and check the amount the recipient is shown to receive. If you are unsure which payout details to enter, ask the recipient or their bank or wallet provider before confirming.
Choose a payout method for Bangladesh
Bank account deposit
Choose bank deposit if the recipient wants the money paid into a bank account in Bangladesh. Enter the account holder’s name and the account number in the format supplied by the bank, along with the bank and branch information requested in the transfer form. Bangladesh bank deposits commonly use an account number and, when needed, a local bank routing code. A SWIFT/BIC may be requested for a bank-transfer route. Do not invent a code or substitute a branch name for one.
Bangladesh does not generally use IBAN for domestic bank accounts. If you have been given an IBAN, or the details you have do not match the fields shown in Coinepay, verify the instructions with the recipient’s bank or contact Coinepay support before sending. A bank may also require the recipient to provide information before it can credit an incoming payment.
Mobile wallet
A mobile wallet payout sends funds to an eligible wallet account rather than a bank account. bKash is an example of a Bangladesh mobile wallet; other providers may be available depending on what the app displays for your transfer. Select the listed provider that the recipient actually uses and enter their registered mobile number and name as requested. Do not assume a phone number is linked to an active wallet: have the recipient confirm the provider, number and account ownership first.
The recipient may need access to their wallet and may have to complete requirements set by their provider before they can use the funds. If their preferred wallet does not appear among the available options, choose another payout method with the recipient’s agreement rather than selecting a different provider.
Cash pickup
Cash pickup can be useful when the recipient prefers to collect funds in person. Choose an available cash pickup option in the app and review its collection instructions before confirming. Tell the recipient to bring the identity document required by the pickup provider and to make sure its name matches the transfer details. Share any pickup reference securely, only with the intended recipient. The recipient should follow the instructions shown for the selected pickup location and check that the location can serve them before travelling.
How to send money from Malaysia to Bangladesh
- Sign in and start a transfer. Use the Coinepay mobile app or self-service dashboard. Complete any identity or account steps shown before proceeding.
- Set the destination and currencies. Choose Bangladesh as the destination and select the available sending and receiving currencies for your transfer. Check the displayed BDT amount if the recipient will receive taka.
- Select the payout method. Pick bank deposit, an available mobile wallet or cash pickup. The details you must enter depend on that choice.
- Enter the recipient’s information. Use their full legal name and the bank account, wallet or cash pickup details requested on screen. Recheck digits, spelling and any bank or branch code against information confirmed by the recipient.
- Review before confirming. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm. Check the sender and recipient details, payout method, currencies, amount and any instructions or information requests. If something is wrong, go back and correct it before confirming.
- Confirm and track the transfer. Follow the on-screen confirmation steps, then use the transfer’s status tracking in the app or dashboard. Keep its reference handy in case you need to contact support.
Only confirm a transfer you understand and intend to make. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions; customers and counterparties are screened. Do not send on behalf of someone else to avoid a check or enter details that misrepresent who will receive the money.
What the recipient should expect
Tell the recipient which payout method you selected, but share sensitive transfer information only when necessary and through a secure channel. For a bank deposit, they should monitor the account named in the transfer and respond to any legitimate request from their bank. For a wallet payout, they should check the correct provider account rather than relying only on a text notification. For cash pickup, they should wait for the relevant collection instructions and bring the required identification.
The recipient’s bank, wallet provider or pickup provider may apply its own account checks or collection rules. Requirements can vary by provider and payout route. If the recipient says a payment is missing, compare the account or mobile number you entered with their current details and check the transfer status before starting another transfer.
Troubleshooting a transfer
- Wrong recipient details: If you notice a misspelled name, incorrect account number, wallet number or bank code before confirmation, correct it first. If you have already confirmed, contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer reference. A correction or cancellation may not be possible once processing has progressed.
- Compliance review: If Coinepay requests identity, purpose-of-payment or source-of-funds information, respond through the instructed channel with accurate documents. Do not create a second transfer to bypass a review.
- Status has not changed: Check the latest status in your dashboard or app and verify whether Coinepay has asked you or the recipient for information. If the status or next step is unclear, give support the transfer reference so they can look into it.
- Recipient cannot collect or locate funds: Confirm that they are checking the payout method and account specified on the transfer. For cash pickup, compare their identification name and the collection instructions with the transfer details.
- Transfer is returned: Review the status and any reason supplied, then check the recipient information and payout requirements before trying again. Contact support if you need help understanding the return or what to do next.
