Audible Premium Plus is being renamed Audible Premium in the US, so you may see either name while signing up. This guide explains how to choose the credit-based membership, enter a Coinepay virtual card for a website-billed subscription, and check common reasons a payment might be declined. Card acceptance is not assured: review Audible’s payment requirements and confirm your card is eligible before relying on it for a recurring membership.
Choose the right Audible membership
Audible offers different plans by marketplace. In the US, the plan formerly called Premium Plus is now called Audible Premium; Audible says the name change has not changed its benefits. Do not confuse it with Audible Standard. Standard gives you a monthly audiobook selection to access while your membership continues, and an unused selection does not roll over. Premium provides credits you can use to purchase titles that remain accessible after cancellation, as well as access to an included listening catalog during membership.
At the time of writing (October 2026), Audible’s US plans page listed Audible Premium – 1 Credit at $14.95 per month, Audible Premium – 2 Credits at $22.95 per month, Audible Premium Annual – 12 Credits at $149.50 per year, and Audible Premium Annual – 24 Credits at $229.50 per year. It also listed Audible Standard at $8.99 per month. Check the official Audible plans and pricing page for the price, trial terms, and plan names shown to you at checkout; offers and prices can differ by marketplace. Audible Plus appears in US help information as an option for existing Plus members, not a general new-sign-up tier.
Use the Audible marketplace assigned to your country of residence and enter your real account and billing details. Audible has separate marketplaces for countries including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, France, and Germany. Catalog availability can also vary by location. Changing the storefront in the Audible app does not transfer an account between marketplaces.
What to check before entering your Coinepay card
- Your Coinepay account: Register and complete identity verification before using card services. You can get started with Coinepay and manage your card in its app or 24/7 self-service dashboard. A Coinepay virtual card provides a card number, expiry date, and CVV.
- Audible’s recurring-payment requirement: Audible’s US Conditions of Use state that membership fees accept credit cards only and advise against debit cards. Its Help Center lists additional payment methods for purchases, but that list should not be treated as confirmation that a particular card is eligible for recurring membership fees. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets Audible’s requirement before you buy. Audible makes the final decision at checkout.
- Available funds and accurate details: Check the amount due on Audible’s checkout page and ensure your card has enough available funds for any charge or verification. Have the correct billing address ready; use your real details rather than an address chosen to match another marketplace.
- Billing channel: This guide covers paying Audible directly on its website. If a subscription is billed through Apple or Google, its payment method is managed in that store instead, and its price may differ.
How to sign up and pay on Audible’s website
- Open the Audible website for your marketplace. Go to Browse → Plans & pricing → Premium. If the page says Premium Plus, check the included credits and benefits rather than relying on the name alone.
- Choose a plan and review its terms. Select the monthly or annual credit-based option you want. Read the price, billing interval, and any trial offer displayed for your account. An eligible 30-day trial converts to an automatically renewing paid membership unless you cancel.
- Sign in when prompted. Audible may ask you to use an Amazon account. Create or sign in to the account using your real identity and the marketplace appropriate for your residence.
- Enter a payment method. If Audible offers card entry for your membership, take the number, expiry date, and CVV from your Coinepay virtual card and enter them in the corresponding fields. Supply your actual billing details. Review any card or membership eligibility message before proceeding.
- Review, then confirm. Check the plan, amount or trial terms, renewal schedule, and selected payment method on Audible’s confirmation screen. Confirm only if these match what you intend to purchase. A submitted card does not mean the membership is active; check for Audible’s confirmation.
- Verify membership and billing. On Audible’s website, select your username and open Account details → Membership details to review subscription billing information. Under Account details → Payment, you can review, add, edit, delete, or set a default card where those options are available.
You can also begin in the Audible app through Profile → Settings → Membership → Details → Start now; Audible may redirect you to its website to complete enrollment. Check which company will bill you before confirming. Buying an individual audiobook is a separate checkout: where offered, you may choose a membership credit or pay by card, then confirm the title purchase. A successful title purchase does not establish that the same card can pay a recurring membership fee.
What to do if Audible declines the card
Start with the message Audible displays, then check one issue at a time. Repeatedly submitting the same details may not help: Audible says three incorrect payment-method entries can temporarily block adding another method for approximately 30 minutes.
Insufficient available funds or a verification issue
Compare your available card balance with the amount shown at checkout, including an upcoming charge if you are not receiving a trial. Audible also identifies an unprocessed or unauthorized card verification and an expired card as possible sign-up problems. Recheck the expiry date and CVV, and look for any verification request associated with the transaction. Audible says a pending $1 card verification is not a completed membership charge; its release may take several business days. If the authorization continues to fail, contact Coinepay support with the transaction time and amount, without sharing your full card number or CVV.
Billing address mismatch or card eligibility
Compare the billing details entered on Audible with your real card billing details and correct any typing errors. Do not substitute an address in another country to try to pass a check. If the details are correct but the card is rejected, remember the US membership rule: Audible states that fees accept credit cards only and advises against debit cards. Ask Coinepay support whether your card meets that requirement, and ask Audible about the payment methods available for your marketplace and membership.
3-D Secure or merchant region checks
If checkout presents an authentication step, complete it using the instructions on screen. If it times out or fails, restart checkout and follow up with support rather than assuming the card was charged or the membership began. For a region-related rejection, verify that you are using the Audible marketplace for your country of residence and that your account and billing details are accurate. A card cannot override Audible’s marketplace rules or a title’s geographic restrictions.
Audible also lists a trial used within the preceding 12 months as a possible enrollment issue; that is different from a card decline. Check whether you are eligible for the trial and review the paid offer presented instead. If you need to change the default card after enrolling, use Account details → Payment on Audible’s website. Audible says it may charge another card on the Amazon account if the default card cannot be charged; backup-payment controls are under Amazon Your Payments → Settings → Manage back-up payment method. Review those settings if you want to understand which card may be billed.
Manage or cancel the membership
For a website-billed subscription, go to Membership details → Cancel membership → Confirm cancellation. If Apple or Google bills you, manage or cancel the subscription in that store. Deleting the Audible app does not cancel membership. In the US, Audible’s Conditions of Use say cancellation does not refund membership fees already paid.
Purchased audiobooks remain accessible after cancellation, but access to the included catalog ends. For website-billed Premium membership, unused credits expire at the end of the final billing cycle or at their earlier 12-month expiry. Check your credits and renewal date in Membership details before confirming cancellation.
