PrestaShop is an e-commerce platform you can run as a free self-hosted download or as a managed subscription. If you want to pay for the PrestaShop Hosted plan or a Marketplace add-on without using a personal bank card, a Coinepay virtual card gives you an instant card number, expiry date and CVV you can enter at checkout. This guide walks through what you need, how the PrestaShop sign-up and payment flow works, and how to troubleshoot a declined card.

Understand which PrestaShop offer you are paying for

PrestaShop's official store lists three offers: PrestaShop Classic, PrestaShop Hosted and PrestaShop Enterprise. These are separate from Marketplace add-on subscriptions and from the Care Center service. Knowing which one you want decides where you pay.

  • Classic is a free, self-hosted download. At the time of writing (October 2026) the download itself is listed at €0, but hosting and domain costs are not included and are billed separately by whichever host you choose. There is nothing to pay PrestaShop for the software itself.
  • Hosted is the managed subscription you pay PrestaShop directly for. At the time of writing (October 2026) monthly billing is advertised at €29 per month excluding VAT with no annual commitment, and annual billing is shown as €290 billed annually. Prices vary by region and change over time, so confirm the current figure on the official PrestaShop offers page before you buy.
  • Enterprise starts at €2,115 per month excluding tax on a 24-month commitment and is handled by contacting PrestaShop's sales team rather than through the self-service checkout.

Most readers paying with a card will be buying Hosted or a Marketplace add-on subscription. The steps below focus on those.

What you need before you start

  • A Coinepay account with identity verification (KYC) completed. You must register and verify before card services are available. You can sign up at the Coinepay registration page and manage everything from the iOS app or Android app.
  • A Coinepay virtual card created in your dashboard, with its card number, expiry and CVV visible.
  • Enough balance on the card to cover the plan plus any applicable VAT. Hosted's terms describe recurring monthly or annual debits, so plan to keep the card funded for renewals.
  • Your real billing details — legal name, address and, if you are a business, your VAT number. Use your genuine identity and billing information; do not use false addresses or any method to bypass a merchant's regional or payment checks.

Step-by-step: paying for PrestaShop Hosted

  1. Go to the official PrestaShop website and open the Hosted offer page.
  2. Create a PrestaShop Account or sign in to an existing one.
  3. Name your store and select your subscription, choosing monthly or annual billing.
  4. Enter your payment information. Hosted includes a 14-calendar-day trial; according to PrestaShop's terms you are charged only if you do not cancel before the trial ends.
  5. Type your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV exactly as shown in your Coinepay dashboard, and enter a billing address that matches your card profile.
  6. Complete any 3-D Secure step your bank partner prompts. Approve it in the Coinepay app if required.
  7. Confirm. PrestaShop emails your store and back-office access links after creation, which can take up to 24 hours. Your Hosted back-office login uses your PrestaShop Account credentials.

After purchase, you manage your billing address, VAT number and cancellation from the store back office under Settings → Manage My Subscription.

Step-by-step: paying for a Marketplace add-on subscription

  1. Sign in to your PrestaShop Marketplace account and add the module or template subscription to your cart.
  2. At checkout, choose your billing country and currency. The Marketplace can display prices in EUR, GBP or USD, and the available methods vary by billing country.
  3. Select card as your payment method. For subscription purchases, PrestaShop specifies card or PayPal.
  4. Enter your Coinepay virtual card details and a matching billing address, then complete 3-D Secure if prompted.
  5. Confirm the order. For a recurring add-on like Business Care, you manage renewals and payment methods in the Marketplace account's Subscriptions tab. Other recurring module subscriptions are generally managed individually in the store back office under Modules → Module Manager → Configure.

Troubleshooting a declined or failed card

PrestaShop notes that for Marketplace card payments you may see an error before confirmation for incorrect details or an expired card, while later failures can involve insufficient funds, a card's online-payment setting or limit, or failed 3-D Secure bank authentication. Work through these common causes:

Insufficient balance

Make sure your Coinepay card holds enough to cover the plan price plus VAT. Remember annual Hosted billing is charged as a single larger amount (€290 at the time of writing), not a small monthly figure. Top up in the Coinepay app and retry.

Billing address mismatch

Enter the billing address that matches your Coinepay card profile. A mismatch between the address on file and the one typed at checkout is a frequent decline cause. Check both in your Coinepay dashboard and on the PrestaShop form.

3-D Secure authentication

If the payment stalls at a bank verification screen, complete the 3-D Secure confirmation in your Coinepay app. If you miss the prompt, start the checkout again so a fresh authentication request is sent.

Card limit or online-payment setting

A per-transaction limit or a disabled online-payment control can block the charge. Review your card settings in the Coinepay dashboard before retrying.

Region checks

PrestaShop warns that Marketplace purchases may be restricted for countries under economic sanctions, and it has not published a definitive Hosted sign-up country list. Coinepay likewise does not serve residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions. If your purchase is blocked for a regional reason, that is set by PrestaShop's own rules — use your real country and do not attempt to work around the check.

Some merchants restrict which card types they accept. PrestaShop's Hosted pages do not enumerate every accepted card network, and whether a specific card works is decided by PrestaShop and its payment partner. If you are unsure, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets a requirement before you buy.

If you were debited but cannot find the order, or you see multiple charges, PrestaShop directs customers to its support team and says verified extra charges can be refunded.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel Hosted at any time in Manage My Subscription with no cancellation penalty. Cancellation takes effect at the next monthly or annual anniversary, and there is no refund for a period already started; technical or payment-related refund requests are assessed by PrestaShop. Business Care renews annually unless you disable automatic renewal, and cancellation takes effect when the paid period expires; its help page notes refunds are not automatic and are subject to conditions.
