Criteo is a commerce media and advertising platform, with self-service sign-up for its Criteo GO product currently documented for brands running campaigns in the US or UK. If you want to fund your Criteo advertising with a dedicated virtual card, this guide walks through what you need, how registration and billing work, and what to check when a card payment is rejected.

A Coinepay virtual card gives you an instant card number, expiry date and CVV you can enter into Criteo's billing page. Because you can create a separate card per ad account and set custom spending limits, it is a practical way to keep your Criteo spend isolated from other budgets.

Before you start: what you need

  • A verified Coinepay account. Register at Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC) before you can use card services.
  • A Coinepay virtual card with available balance. Create one in the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app, then note the card number, expiry and CVV.
  • Your real company and billing details. Criteo's billing step asks for company information and a billing address, and this must match the details on your Coinepay card.
  • Eligibility for Criteo's self-service flow. GO self-sign-up is documented for US- or UK-bound campaigns; the eligible billing countries depend on the advertiser country you select, and a country absent from the registration dropdown is not currently eligible.

Criteo documents credit/debit card registration and, in some countries, a SEPA option; available billing methods vary by country. Criteo does not publish a confirmed list of accepted card networks, and no merchant can guarantee any particular card will be accepted. If you want to confirm your Coinepay card meets Criteo's requirements before you commit a budget, contact Coinepay support.

Step 1: Create or sign in to your Criteo account

For Criteo GO self-service, create a Criteo login or sign in with an existing one, verify your email, then complete your advertiser profile. Agency-managed accounts are directed elsewhere, so if an agency runs your account you will not complete self-sign-up yourself.

For Commerce Growth, the route is often sales-assisted: after a contract is signed and Criteo's Sales team creates the account, you receive an invitation to register payment. In that case only an Administrator or Financial Manager can perform the initial payment registration.

Step 2: Open the billing section

The location depends on the product:

  • Criteo GO: onboarding moves you from Getting Started → Set up payment → Billing & payments. A valid payment method and event tracking are required before your first campaign can run.
  • Commerce Growth: go to the left navigation → Billing → Billing and payments. Use Add method to register a payment method. Agency users do not see this section and must contact support or their account team.

Step 3: Add your Coinepay virtual card

  1. Enter your company and billing details exactly as they appear on your Coinepay account.
  2. Choose to add a card where you are offered Add method (credit card, or SEPA where available).
  3. Type in the Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV from your Coinepay app.
  4. Enter the billing address that matches your Coinepay card profile.
  5. Accept the applicable terms and select Validate to save the payment method.

If a verification step appears during saving or the first charge, complete any 3-D Secure confirmation using the Coinepay app so the transaction can be approved.

Step 4: Launch and fund your campaign

Once your payment method is validated and event tracking is in place, you can create your campaign. Criteo GO uses campaign budgets and CPM-based pricing rather than a fixed monthly subscription fee, so your spend depends on the budget you set. Criteo does not publish a fixed country-by-country rate card; advertisers set budgets and any applicable commercial terms may appear in an order form. For current pricing details, check Criteo's official pricing page rather than relying on figures elsewhere.

Note: In September 2026, GO added a selectable Delivery timezone that affects daily budget resets and billing-period boundaries from the next billing period. Set this correctly so your charges align with your expectations.

Paying an outstanding invoice

If a card payment fails, Criteo documents a Transactions → Pay now action for outstanding card-paid invoices in Commerce Growth. A rejected card payment, a failed payment without a successful alternative, or an overdue balance can pause your campaigns, so clearing the balance promptly helps you relaunch.

Troubleshooting: common card-declined causes

Criteo's help pages describe rejected or failed payments without listing issuer-level reasons, so work through the usual causes below. Fix them on the Coinepay side first, then retry in Criteo.

Insufficient balance

Advertising charges can be larger than expected if your budget runs through quickly. Open the Coinepay app and confirm the card has enough balance to cover the pending charge, then use Pay now on the failed transaction.

Billing address mismatch

If the billing address in Criteo does not match the address on your Coinepay card profile, the payment can be rejected. Re-check both and make sure the country, postal code and street match exactly.

3-D Secure / verification not completed

Some charges trigger a 3-D Secure confirmation. If you miss or dismiss it, the payment fails. Keep the Coinepay app to hand when you add a card or retry a payment so you can approve the prompt.

Card details entered incorrectly

A single wrong digit in the card number, expiry or CVV will cause a decline. Copy the details directly from the Coinepay app and re-enter them carefully.

Merchant region or country checks

Criteo's self-service billing eligibility depends on the advertiser country you selected, and available billing methods vary by country. If your country is not offered, the self-service route may not be available to you regardless of card. Use your real details — never enter a false address or try to bypass regional checks.

Spending limit on the card

If you set a custom limit when you created the Coinepay card, a charge above that limit will be refused. Adjust the limit in the Coinepay dashboard, then retry.

If everything above checks out and the payment still fails, contact Coinepay support to confirm the card is active and suitable for this merchant, and contact Criteo support for account-specific billing issues.

Managing and cancelling

Under the May 2026 Commerce Growth/GO-specific terms, either party may terminate the agreement without penalty or indemnity with five business days' notice by registered letter or acknowledged email. You can also suspend or end an individual campaign in the platform, or ask Criteo to do so. Review Criteo's current terms for refund and invoice-claim details rather than older documents, as the umbrella terms require payment of charges already incurred.

Keep control from the Coinepay app

With the Coinepay app on iOS or Google Play, you can watch Criteo charges in real time, top up, and adjust per-card limits. Businesses running several ad platforms can issue a dedicated card per ad account to keep budgets and records clean.

FAQ

Can I pay for Criteo with a Coinepay virtual card?

You can enter a Coinepay virtual card's number, expiry and CVV on Criteo's Billing & payments page where card registration is offered. Criteo does not publish a confirmed list of accepted card networks, and no merchant guarantees acceptance, so contact Coinepay support if you want to confirm your card is suitable before you commit a budget.

Where do I add a payment method in Criteo?

In Criteo GO, onboarding takes you from Getting Started to Set up payment and then Billing & payments. In Commerce Growth, go to the left navigation, then Billing, then Billing and payments, and use Add method. Agency-managed accounts do not see this section and must contact their account team.

Why was my Criteo card payment rejected?

Common causes include insufficient card balance, a billing address that does not match your card profile, an incomplete 3-D Secure confirmation, mistyped card details, a per-card spending limit, or a region not eligible for Criteo's self-service billing. Fix the cause in the Coinepay app, then use Pay now to retry.

How much does Criteo cost?

Criteo GO uses campaign budgets and CPM-based pricing rather than a fixed subscription fee, and there is no published country-by-country rate card. Set your own budget and check Criteo's official pricing page for current details.

Can I set a spending limit for my Criteo ad card?

Yes. When you create a Coinepay virtual card you can set a custom spending limit, and businesses can issue a separate card per ad account. Adjust the limit anytime in the Coinepay dashboard or app, but make sure it is high enough to cover your Criteo charges.
