Amazon Prime bundles faster delivery, Prime Video and member-only deals into one subscription, and you can pay for it with a virtual card. This guide explains what you need, how to add a Coinepay virtual card at sign-up or checkout, and how to work through the most common reasons a card gets declined. Prime plans and prices differ by country, so always confirm the current price on your local Amazon site before you confirm.
What you need before you start
Amazon lists credit cards, debit cards, the Amazon Store Card, Amazon.com Gift Cards and selected promotional codes as payment options for US Prime membership; the options you actually see are shown at checkout. To pay with a Coinepay virtual card, have the following ready:
- A Coinepay account with identity verification (KYC) completed. If you have not registered yet, you can sign up with Coinepay and finish verification first.
- An active virtual card. Coinepay issues virtual cards with an instant card number, expiry date and CVV, which you can view in the Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app (iOS / Google Play).
- Enough available balance on the card to cover the plan you choose plus any authorisation hold Amazon may place.
- Your real billing details, matching the identity on your Coinepay account. Use your genuine name and address, not invented details.
Services related to virtual assets are not available to residents of mainland China, and some services are not available in every jurisdiction. Note too that a trial requires a credit or debit card on file as backup: paying solely with an Amazon.com Gift Card does not qualify you for a free trial.
Choose your Prime plan
Prime is sold by country, with different tiers and prices. At the time of writing (October 2026) published examples included:
| Region | Example plans and prices |
|---|---|
| United States | Prime at US$14.99/month or US$139/year; reduced-price Prime for Young Adults and Prime Access for eligible customers |
| United Kingdom | Prime Monthly £8.99/month, Prime Annual £95/year; a student/18–22 rate advertised at £4.49/month |
| Germany | Prime Monatlich €8.99/month, Prime Jährlich €89.90/year |
| France | Prime €6.99/month or €69.90/year |
| Canada | Prime C$9.99/month or C$99/year |
| Australia | Prime A$9.99/month or A$79/year |
| Japan | Prime ¥600/month or ¥5,900/year |
| India | Prime ₹299/month, ₹599/3 months or ₹1,499/year; Prime Lite ₹799/year; Prime Shopping Edition ₹399/year |
| South Africa | Prime R59/month or R399/year |
These prices were published on Amazon pages on the research date and are not a promise of what your own checkout will show. Always check the official Amazon Prime page for your country for the current price, available tiers and any eligible trial. An eligible trial converts to a paid membership unless you cancel before it ends.
Step-by-step: subscribe to Prime and pay with your Coinepay card
- Open your local Amazon site and go to the Amazon Prime page, then sign in or create an Amazon account.
- Choose a monthly or annual plan (or a tier such as Prime Lite where offered). If you qualify for a reduced rate like Prime for Young Adults, Prime Student or Prime Access, select that option and complete Amazon's eligibility checks.
- When asked for payment, choose Add a payment method and enter your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV exactly as shown in the Coinepay app.
- Enter your billing address. Make it match the address on file with Coinepay.
- Review the plan, price and renewal date, then confirm. If a 3-D Secure or one-time passcode step appears, approve it so the payment can authorise.
Alternatively, Amazon offers an eligible Prime sign-up at checkout when you buy a product or a Prime-exclusive offer; this is a convenient route to join, not a separate tier. In India, Amazon lets you select a plan, enter billing details and pay by credit/debit card, a UPI app or Amazon Pay balance.
Manage or update your card later
On a US account you can reach membership management from Account & Lists → Prime Membership; Amazon also routes membership-payment and 1-Click settings through Manage Your Memberships & Subscriptions. Use these screens to switch your default card to a Coinepay virtual card before your next renewal, or to change the plan. Because Prime renews automatically, keep enough balance on the card ahead of the renewal date.
Troubleshooting a declined card
Amazon lists payment and Prime Video error codes including 2016, 2021, 2023, 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029, 2040, 2041, 2043, 2044, 2047, 2048, 2063 and 7035, and says its checks cover the card number, expiry date and security code, whether the card supports e-commerce, available funds and the issuing bank. Work through these causes:
Insufficient balance
Amazon may place a short authorisation on top of the plan price. Top up your Coinepay card so it covers the full amount plus any hold, then retry.
Billing address mismatch
If the address you typed into Amazon does not match the address your card provider has on record, the payment can be rejected. Re-enter your billing details to match the information on your Coinepay profile.
3-D Secure or verification not completed
If a verification prompt appears and is not approved, the charge fails. Make sure you can receive the confirmation from Coinepay and complete the step while checking out.
Card details entered incorrectly
Double-check the card number, expiry date and CVV against the Coinepay app. A single wrong digit triggers a decline.
Region and card-acceptance checks
Prime eligibility, delivery and video benefits depend on your location, and a membership bought on one country's Amazon site does not cover orders on another. Amazon decides at checkout which cards and networks it accepts for a given membership, and whether a particular card is accepted is outside Coinepay's control. If a "payment needs revision" or "Payment Revision Needed" message appears, update the card in your membership settings and retry. If the card is still declined after you have confirmed the balance, details and billing address, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card is suitable before trying again.
Cancellations and refunds
On a US account you can cancel on desktop via Account & Lists → Prime Membership → Manage Membership → End Membership, or in the Amazon Shopping app via Profile → Manage Prime Membership → Manage Membership → End Membership. Refund rules vary by country: in the UK, a directly billed member who cancels may get the current period's fee refunded in full if no authorised user used Prime benefits that period, while benefit use may mean only a partial refund, and memberships redeemed by promotional or gift code are not refundable. Check the refund policy on your own Amazon site, since these terms differ by region.

FAQ
Can I use a Coinepay virtual card to pay for Amazon Prime?
You can add a Coinepay virtual card as a payment method on Amazon's Prime sign-up or checkout page using the card number, expiry and CVV from your Coinepay app. Amazon decides at checkout which cards it accepts, so if the card is declined, contact Coinepay support to confirm it is suitable.
How much does Amazon Prime cost?
Prices vary by country and tier. For example, at the time of writing (October 2026) US Prime was published at US$14.99/month or US$139/year and UK Prime Annual at £95/year. Check your local Amazon Prime page for the current price before you confirm.
Why was my card declined at Amazon Prime checkout?
Common causes are insufficient balance, a billing address that does not match your card record, an uncompleted 3-D Secure step, a mistyped card number, expiry or CVV, or Amazon's own region and acceptance checks. Fix each in turn and retry; if it persists, contact Coinepay support.
Do I need identity verification before paying with Coinepay?
Yes. You must register and complete Coinepay's identity verification (KYC) before using card services. Use your real identity and billing details that match your Coinepay profile.
Can I get a Prime free trial if I only pay with a gift card?
No. Amazon requires a credit or debit card on file as backup to qualify for an eligible free trial; paying solely with an Amazon.com Gift Card does not qualify. You can add your Coinepay virtual card as that backup method.
