Agoda sells travel bookings rather than a paid subscription. If a card payment is available for your booking, you can enter a Coinepay virtual card at checkout. The important checks are the payment method shown for that particular booking, when Agoda or the property will collect payment, and the room’s cancellation terms.
What you need before booking
- A Coinepay account and virtual card. Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Once your card is issued, its number, expiry date and CVV are available through Coinepay.
- Enough available funds. Review the full amount displayed at Agoda checkout, including any taxes or charges shown there. If payment is due later, make sure funds will be available when the charge is scheduled.
- Your real booking and billing details. Use the guest’s correct name and contact information, and enter your genuine billing information where requested. Check that the billing details you provide are consistent with your card account details.
- The booking’s payment and cancellation conditions. Card acceptance, payment timing and cancellation rules depend on the travel product and selected rate. Read them before confirming.
Agoda lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express and JCB credit cards, plus Visa- or Mastercard-branded debit cards, among its card options. That list does not mean every card is accepted for every booking. Use the methods displayed at your checkout, and contact Coinepay support if you need help checking your card details before you buy. Agoda booking prices vary with the travel product, dates and rate; review the final price at checkout.
Step 1: Create or sign in to your Agoda account
On Agoda’s website, select Create account. You can follow the prompts using Google, Facebook, Apple ID or an email address, then provide your name as requested. If you already have an account, sign in before booking so you can find the reservation more easily afterward.
You do not need to buy an Agoda membership to make a booking. AgodaVIP is a free, account-based loyalty program; eligible customers join automatically. Its listed levels are Member, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. Any benefit shown for a stay should be checked against that booking’s actual price and conditions, rather than assumed to apply to every property.
Step 2: Choose a booking and check how payment works
- Search Agoda for your destination, dates and number of guests, then open a suitable property and room.
- Compare the available rates. Look for the total price, included items, cancellation deadline and whether the rate is non-refundable.
- Continue to the booking page and read the payment options shown for that specific reservation. Availability can differ by country, property and rate.
Pay particular attention to Pay Now, Agoda-charged Pay Later and Pay at Property or other property-collected arrangements. With Pay Now, expect the payment step during booking. With Pay Later, check the date and conditions for Agoda’s later charge. If the property collects payment, confirm its accepted methods rather than assuming the card you enter online will pay the final bill. The booking confirmation is the place to check the agreed payment date and conditions after purchase.
For some bookings, Agoda also displays methods such as PayPal, AgodaCash, gift cards, online banking or regional wallets. These are alternatives only when offered for your reservation; they do not change the terms of a card-based booking.
Step 3: Enter your Coinepay virtual card and confirm
- Open the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app and locate your virtual card’s number, expiry date and CVV. Check your available funds before returning to Agoda.
- At Agoda checkout, choose an available card-payment option. Enter the card details in the relevant fields and supply your real billing details if requested.
- Review the guest name, stay dates, room or rate, total price, currency, cancellation policy and payment timing. Correct any mistakes before submitting.
- Complete any verification requested during checkout. Watch for an authentication prompt or an email asking you to verify the booking or payment.
- Submit the booking and wait for Agoda’s confirmation. Check the confirmation email for the reservation details and the payment date or conditions. Do not assume a booking is complete solely because you entered card details.
If a charge or booking status is unclear, check your Agoda confirmation and the transaction information in Coinepay before trying again. Repeated checkout attempts can make it harder to tell which reservation or payment needs attention.
How to manage the card on an existing Agoda booking
Open the Manage My Booking link in your confirmation email. Alternatively, on Agoda’s website go to Bookings/My Bookings → Manage Booking; in the app, go to My Trips → Manage Booking. For an eligible reservation, scroll to Payment information to see whether you can update the card. You can also manage saved cards in your personal Agoda account, but editing a saved card does not by itself change a completed payment.
Agoda says a successfully processed charge cannot have its payment type changed. For an unpaid Pay Later reservation, you may be able to replace one credit or debit card with another, but you cannot change the payment type or currency through that update. Updating the card triggers an immediate charge, so check the amount and your available funds first. Some Pay at Property bookings also allow a change; the options shown in your booking determine what you can do.
What to do if Agoda declines your card
A failed payment does not, by itself, identify the cause. Agoda does not publish a definitive list of decline messages or issuer reason codes. Work through the checks below instead of guessing from a generic error:
- Insufficient available funds: Compare the available card balance with the amount Agoda is trying to charge. For Pay Later, remember that the charge may occur on the date in your confirmation—or immediately if you update the card on an eligible unpaid booking. Check the Coinepay app for your current balance and any transaction activity.
- Billing details do not match: Recheck the name, billing address and other requested fields for typing errors. Use your genuine details; do not substitute an address from another country to try to pass a payment check.
- Authentication was not completed: If a 3-D Secure or other verification step appears, finish it within the checkout flow. If a prompt never arrives, expires or fails, check for a verification email and ask Coinepay support to help you investigate the card-side issue.
- Booking or region checks: Confirm that card payment is offered for the selected booking and that your location and booking comply with Agoda’s terms. Payment options vary by country and booking. Do not use a different location or identity to bypass a restriction.
- Card details or checkout session: Re-enter the number, expiry date and CVV carefully, then check whether Agoda has already created a reservation before starting a new attempt.
Agoda advises checking email for verification requests and, when appropriate, trying another card or a payment method actually offered at checkout. If the issue persists, contact Agoda about the booking or checkout error and Coinepay support about the card transaction. Share the booking reference and relevant error information with support, but do not send your CVV in a message.
Cancellation and refunds
Agoda does not apply one cancellation rule to all stays. Read the selected room’s deadline and conditions before paying, then keep the confirmation email. You can request cancellation through booking management. A rate marked for free cancellation has no cancellation fee when cancelled within its stated window; after that window, or for a non-refundable rate, the property’s stated fee may apply.
For an eligible cancellation, Agoda says it processes the refund automatically and normally returns it to the original payment method. Its help-center estimate for a credit or debit card refund to appear on a statement is up to 30–45 business days in most countries, depending on the issuer and country. Keep your booking and cancellation confirmations, and contact Agoda if the refund status needs clarification.

FAQ
Do I need an AgodaVIP subscription to book with a Coinepay card?
No. AgodaVIP is a free, account-based loyalty program, not a paid subscription. You pay for the travel booking you select.
Can I replace the card on an Agoda Pay Later booking?
An eligible unpaid Pay Later booking may allow you to replace one credit or debit card with another. Agoda says updating the card triggers an immediate charge; check Payment information in Manage Booking first.
Why was my Coinepay card declined on Agoda?
Possible causes include insufficient available funds, incorrect billing details, incomplete authentication or booking-specific payment restrictions. Check your email and booking status, then contact Agoda or Coinepay support if the cause remains unclear.
Will Agoda charge my card now or at the property?
It depends on the option shown for your booking. Review whether it says Pay Now, Agoda-charged Pay Later or property-collected payment, and check the confirmation for the payment date and conditions.
