You can use Coinepay Global Remittance to send money from the United Kingdom to Bangladesh. Before starting, ask your recipient how they want to receive the money: in a bank account, a mobile wallet or through cash pickup. The details you need depend on that choice. This guide explains what to prepare, how to review the transfer and what to do if it needs attention.

What you need before you send

Start with a Coinepay account and complete the identity verification requested for your transfer. Use your real identity, and enter your recipient’s full legal name as it appears on their bank or wallet records or identity document. Coinepay may request information about the purpose or source of funds; have relevant documents ready if asked.

Bangladesh’s local currency is the Bangladeshi taka (BDT). In the Coinepay app or dashboard, check the destination, available payout method and currency shown for your particular transfer. Ask the recipient to confirm their receiving details directly, rather than relying on an old payment record or a copied message.

  • For bank deposit: Get the recipient’s full legal name, bank name, branch and account number. The receiving bank or the transfer form may also require the branch’s district or its nine-digit routing number.
  • For a mobile wallet: Get the name registered to the wallet, the wallet provider and its registered mobile number. Check the number’s country code and every digit with the recipient.
  • For cash pickup: Get the recipient’s legal name exactly as it appears on the identification they will present. Check the pickup instructions displayed for the transfer before confirming.

Do not invent an IBAN for a Bangladeshi account: Bangladesh does not use a national IBAN format. If the payment instructions for a particular bank route ask for a SWIFT/BIC or correspondent-bank information, obtain those instructions from the recipient’s bank. A SWIFT/BIC identifies a bank; it does not replace the recipient’s account number. Enter a branch routing number only when the selected payout route requests one.

Choose a payout method in Bangladesh

Bank-account deposit

Bank deposit is suitable when the recipient wants the funds paid into their own Bangladeshi account. Confirm the account holder’s full name, account number, bank and branch with them. Depending on the route shown in Coinepay, you may also need a nine-digit Bangladesh bank-branch routing number, the branch’s district or bank-provided international payment instructions. Use the fields presented for your selected transfer rather than putting a routing code into an account-number field.

If the recipient is unsure which details to provide, ask them to obtain their inward-remittance instructions from their bank. That is particularly useful when the bank requires a SWIFT/BIC or correspondent-bank details. The receiving bank may need to check the payment purpose or request documents before crediting an account.

Mobile wallet

A wallet payout sends the remittance to an eligible local wallet through the available payout route. bKash is a common Bangladesh wallet destination; Nagad is another wallet used for Bangladesh remittances. Check the Coinepay transfer screen to see which wallet providers are offered for your transaction before you proceed.

For bKash, ask for the recipient’s registered wallet number and matching full name. For any wallet, verify that the recipient has an active, eligible account and that the mobile number is recorded in the format requested on screen. Some Bangladesh remittance routes ask for a number beginning with the country code 880; follow the format displayed in Coinepay rather than adding or removing digits by guesswork. An unregistered wallet or a mismatch between the recipient’s name and number may prevent payout. Wallet disbursement of an inward remittance must also follow the applicable banking and local payment rules.

Cash pickup

Cash pickup may be useful if the recipient does not want a bank or wallet deposit. Choose cash pickup only if it appears as an available option for the transfer, and review the displayed pickup instructions. The recipient should be prepared to present valid identification bearing the same legal name you entered. Share any pickup reference or collection instructions through a secure channel, and ask the recipient to check the location’s requirements before visiting. Do not send a pickup reference to someone other than the intended recipient.

How to send from the UK with Coinepay

  1. Sign in and start a transfer. Open the Coinepay mobile app or self-service dashboard and choose Global Remittance. If you are new to Coinepay, register and complete the requested identity verification first.
  2. Set the destination and currency. Select Bangladesh as the receiving destination. Enter the amount and choose from the currencies and payout options shown for your transfer. If the recipient is to receive BDT, check that BDT appears in the receiving details before continuing.
  3. Select the payout method. Choose bank deposit, an available mobile wallet or cash pickup. Enter the recipient’s full legal name and the details required for that method. Recheck account numbers, branch codes and mobile numbers character by character.
  4. Review the transfer. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm. Check the amount the recipient is shown to receive, the payout method and the recipient details. If anything is wrong, go back and correct it before submitting.
  5. Confirm and track it. Confirm the transfer only after reviewing the displayed information and any requests for supporting details. Use Coinepay’s transfer-status tracking in the app or dashboard to follow its progress. Keep the transfer reference handy if you need help.

The available options and information requests can depend on the transaction and local rules. Do not assume that a previous transfer’s recipient details or payout choice will be suitable for a new one.

What the recipient may need to do

Tell the recipient which payout method you selected. For a bank deposit, they should check the account and ask their bank whether it needs a stated payment purpose or supporting documents to process the incoming funds. For a wallet payout, they should confirm that the name and mobile number you used match their registered wallet details. For cash pickup, they should follow the displayed collection instructions and bring the required identification.

Bangladesh’s receiving requirements can differ according to the purpose of the remittance. For example, a bank may ask for a contract, invoice or platform statement for certain service-export receipts; other inward payments may require a declaration or additional review under local rules. Requirements for a personal remittance may differ from those for a business receipt. If the recipient is asked for documents, they should provide accurate information to the receiving institution.

Troubleshooting a transfer

  • Wrong recipient details: If you notice an incorrect name, account number, branch or wallet number after confirming, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support with the transfer reference. Do not assume submitted details can be changed. The recipient may also need to contact their bank or wallet provider.
  • Compliance review: Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay or a receiving institution may ask for documents about the payment purpose, recipient or source of funds. Respond with complete, accurate information through the requested channel; do not create another transfer to avoid a review.
  • Transfer appears delayed: Check status tracking first. A receiving bank may need to resolve incomplete purpose details, obtain documents or complete its own checks before crediting the recipient. If the status does not explain what is needed, contact support with the reference and ask the recipient to check with their bank or wallet provider.
  • Transfer is returned or cannot be paid out: A closed or invalid bank account, missing bank details, an unregistered wallet or a name-and-number mismatch can prevent payout. Review the status and ask support what happened before attempting a new transfer. Confirm corrected details with the recipient rather than guessing.

Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions, and transfers remain subject to screening. For questions about the payout options or information requested for your UK-to-Bangladesh transfer, check the Coinepay app or contact support before confirming.

Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees in the app or dashboard before you confirm the transfer.
