You can send money to New Zealand with Coinepay Global Remittance. Before you start, verify your account and ask your recipient how they want to receive the money. This guide explains the New Zealand bank details you may need, how to review the transfer before confirming it, and what to do if a payment is delayed or returned.

What you need before sending

Register for Coinepay and complete any identity verification requested in the app or 24/7 self-service dashboard. Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may also ask for documents explaining the purpose of a payment or the source of funds.

Have your recipient’s full legal name ready, written as it appears on their bank account or identity document. You will also need the details for the payout method you select. Ask the recipient to confirm those details directly rather than copying them from an old transfer: an account may have changed, and a missing digit can prevent delivery.

New Zealand’s local currency is the New Zealand dollar (NZD). Select New Zealand as the destination and check the available payout methods and currency choices in Coinepay before proceeding. The exchange rate and fees are displayed before you confirm a transfer.

Choose a payout method in New Zealand

Bank deposit

For a deposit to a personal or business bank account, obtain the recipient’s legal account name and complete New Zealand bank account number. A standard New Zealand account number has 15 or 16 digits: a two-digit bank code, four-digit branch code, seven-digit account number, and a two- or three-digit suffix. The recipient may write these groups with hyphens; enter them in the format the Coinepay form requests and check that no group has been omitted.

New Zealand bank accounts do not use IBANs. Use the New Zealand account number instead. If a form asks for a local bank, branch, national clearing or routing code, the first six account-number digits identify the bank and branch. Do not substitute an unrelated code. For an international bank payment, the receiving bank may also require its name, address and SWIFT/BIC, along with the recipient’s physical address. Ask the recipient to confirm the exact incoming-payment instructions with their bank, and supply the fields requested for the route shown in Coinepay.

A recipient bank may require information about you as the sender, such as your full name and address or another accepted identifier. Use your real details and respond if Coinepay requests more information. Before confirming, compare the entire account number, including its suffix, with instructions supplied by the recipient.

Mobile wallet

Coinepay supports mobile-wallet payouts as a remittance method, but do not assume a particular New Zealand mobile wallet is available. Check the New Zealand payout options displayed in the app. If a wallet option appears, ask the recipient for the exact registered name and mobile number or wallet identifier requested by the form, and confirm that their account can receive that type of payout.

PayPal is a separate digital account that people in New Zealand can use to receive payments, but that does not make it a confirmed Coinepay mobile-wallet payout option. Only select a wallet if Coinepay actually offers it for your transfer. If none is listed, choose another available method rather than entering a PayPal email address into a bank-account or mobile-number field.

Cash pickup

Cash pickup is another remittance payout method. Check whether Coinepay offers a pickup location for your New Zealand transfer before choosing it; the available locations and collection instructions should be confirmed in the app. Enter the recipient’s legal name exactly as it appears on their valid government-issued ID.

After the transfer is confirmed, give the recipient the collection instructions and any reference or tracking number provided for the transfer. They should take their ID and follow the instructions for the selected location. Do not assume that a particular pickup operator is a Coinepay payout partner just because it operates in New Zealand; use the location shown for your transfer.

How to send money to New Zealand

  1. Sign in to your verified account. Use the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard. If you are new, register for Coinepay and complete the identity checks before starting.
  2. Start a Global Remittance transfer. Choose New Zealand as the destination, then select the currency and a payout method offered for that transfer. NZD is the local currency; review the currency displayed for the recipient.
  3. Enter recipient and payout details. Use the recipient’s full legal name. For bank deposit, enter the complete account number and any bank code, SWIFT/BIC or address information the form requests. For an available wallet or cash-pickup option, follow its specific recipient fields.
  4. Review before confirming. Check the recipient’s name, account or collection details, destination and currency. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before confirmation; read that summary and verify the amount the recipient is expected to receive.
  5. Confirm and track the transfer. Submit only when the details are correct. Open the transfer in your Coinepay app or dashboard to follow its status, and keep the transaction reference in case you need help.

If Coinepay asks for additional documents during the process, provide accurate information through its requested channel. Do not ask someone else to send on your behalf or divide a payment to avoid a check.

What the recipient should expect

For bank deposit, the recipient should check the account they specified and contact their bank if the transfer status indicates a problem with receipt. Their bank may request information about the sender or the purpose of the payment. For cash pickup, the recipient should check the selected location’s collection requirements and bring the ID specified in the instructions. For a wallet option offered in the app, they should check the registered wallet associated with the details you entered.

New Zealand financial institutions have reporting obligations for qualifying international transfers. An institution-reporting threshold is not a cap on what a recipient may receive. A recipient’s tax treatment also depends on why they received the money: overseas income and a genuine gift, for example, can be treated differently. The New Zealand border-cash declaration rules concern physical cash carried across the border, not an ordinary electronic bank deposit. If the recipient needs advice about reporting or tax, they should consult a qualified local adviser.

Troubleshooting a transfer

  • Wrong account number or recipient name: Check the bank and branch digits, seven-digit account portion and suffix against the recipient’s instructions. A bank may not verify that an account name matches its number during processing. If you have already confirmed the transfer, contact Coinepay support promptly with the transaction reference; do not assume a correction is possible after processing begins.
  • Compliance review or request for information: Respond with truthful documents requested by Coinepay. The sender, recipient and payment may be screened, and a receiving bank may also ask for transaction details. Incomplete information can cause a payment to be delayed, rejected or blocked.
  • Transfer taking longer than expected: Check its status first. Identity or source-of-funds checks, currency conversion, recipient-bank processing, weekends and public holidays can affect progress. If the status is unclear, contact support with the reference and the recipient details you entered.
  • Returned or rejected transfer: Review the reason shown in your transfer status or provided by support. Confirm the recipient’s details and their bank’s incoming-payment instructions before considering a new transfer. If funds are returned, check the transfer record or ask support how the return is being handled.

Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions. All customers and counterparties are screened against sanctions lists, and transfers must comply with applicable local rules.

FAQ

Do I need an IBAN to send money to a New Zealand bank account?

No. New Zealand bank accounts do not use IBANs. Ask for the recipient’s full New Zealand account number and any additional bank details requested for the transfer.

Which part of a New Zealand account number is the bank and branch code?

The first six digits are the two-digit bank code followed by the four-digit branch code. Check the complete account number, including its suffix, with the recipient.

Can I send to a mobile wallet in New Zealand?

Check the payout methods offered for New Zealand in the Coinepay app. Do not assume a particular wallet, including PayPal, is available as a Coinepay payout option.

How do I check whether my New Zealand transfer has arrived?

Open the transfer in your Coinepay app or dashboard to view its status. If it is unclear or the recipient cannot access the funds, contact Coinepay support with the transaction reference.
