Coinepay Global Remittance supports cross-border transfers to Nepal from the United Arab Emirates. Whether you are supporting family, paying for services or settling with a business partner, this guide walks you through what you need, how to choose a payout method, and how to confirm and track your transfer. Rates and fees are always shown in the app before you confirm, so you can review the full cost in advance.
Before you start: what the sender needs
To send money with Coinepay you need a registered account with completed identity verification (KYC). If you have not signed up yet, create an account and finish verification first. You can manage everything from the iOS app, the Android app or the 24/7 self-service dashboard.
Transfers to Nepal are paid out in Nepalese rupee (NPR). Before you begin, gather the recipient's details. At minimum you will need the recipient's full legal name exactly as it appears on their official identification, because every Nepal payout method matches the beneficiary name against ID or KYC records. The remaining details depend on the payout method you choose.
Choose a payout method for Nepal
For the UAE-to-Nepal route, Coinepay supports the common local payout methods: bank deposit, mobile wallet and cash pickup. Pick the one that is most convenient for your recipient.
Bank deposit
To deposit into a Nepalese bank account, collect the recipient's full account name, the bank name, the branch and the account number. Account numbers in Nepal commonly fall in a 9-to-20-digit range depending on the bank, so copy the number exactly as issued. If you are sending as an international bank wire, you will also need the receiving bank's SWIFT/BIC code. Individual banks set their own formats — for example, Rastriya Banijya Bank publishes its BIC alongside a 16-digit account number and asks for the beneficiary's address and contact number. Always use the account number issued by the receiving bank.
About IBAN: Nepal does not have a national IBAN format in SWIFT's registry, so do not try to construct one. Use the bank-provided account number instead. A nationwide requirement for an IFSC, routing number or separate numeric branch code is not confirmed for Nepal; if a particular bank or payout partner asks for an extra field, confirm it directly with that bank before you send.
Mobile wallet
Nepal's main remittance-receiving wallets include eSewa and Khalti by IME. For a wallet payout you generally need the recipient's registered mobile number and full name. Two conditions matter:
- eSewa requires the supplied mobile number to be registered and verified for its wallet-load service.
- Khalti by IME requires the receiving wallet to be KYC-verified, and the beneficiary name must match the wallet's KYC record.
Confirm with your recipient that their wallet is fully verified before you send, otherwise the payout can be delayed or rejected.
Cash pickup
Cash pickup lets the recipient collect funds in person from a payout location. For this method the recipient needs the correct pickup reference (control number), a name that matches their valid identification, and that valid ID in hand at collection. Payout partners in Nepal include banks and remittance networks such as eSewa Money Transfer, NIC Asia Bank and Global IME Bank; the available partners are shown in the app when you select cash pickup.
Step-by-step: send the transfer
- Open Coinepay and go to the Global Remittance or Send Money section.
- Choose the destination and currency. Select Nepal as the destination and NPR as the payout currency.
- Select the payout method — bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup — and enter the recipient's details for that method, double-checking the full legal name against their ID.
- Enter the amount you want to send or want the recipient to receive.
- Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the rate and all fees clearly before you confirm, so you can see what will be deducted and what the recipient will get.
- Add the transfer purpose and any supporting information requested. Providers on both the UAE and Nepal sides collect the purpose of the transfer.
- Confirm. Review every field one more time, then confirm the transfer.
- Track the status. Every transfer has status tracking in the app, so you can follow it from submitted through to paid out and share the reference with your recipient.
Compliance: identity, sanctions and documents
All transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay screens customers and counterparties against sanctions lists, and may ask for documents such as the purpose of the transfer or the source of your funds — this is routine. In the UAE, exchange-business standards require source-of-funds evidence for larger cash-funded outward transfers (for example, AED 55,000 or more in a single transfer or accumulated over a 45-day period), and providers must record the transfer purpose. Having your documents ready helps avoid hold-ups.
On the Nepal side, the receiving bank performs its own checks. Rastriya Banijya Bank, for instance, requires the beneficiary's KYC to be up to date and a transfer purpose in the inward message, and it may request supporting documents or a due-diligence form before crediting funds. Ordinary family remittances are typically straightforward, but special cases — such as a social organization receiving overseas donations — may need prior Social Welfare Council approval. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions, and you should never split a transfer or use a third party to avoid these checks.
Recipient-side considerations
Funds are paid out in NPR, so the recipient receives local currency regardless of how you funded the transfer. For bank deposits and wallet loads, the recipient usually does not need to do anything beyond keeping their account or wallet active and verified. For cash pickup, they must bring valid ID and the pickup reference. Encourage your recipient to confirm their account number, wallet verification status or ID name matches exactly what you enter.
Troubleshooting
Wrong recipient details
A mismatched beneficiary name or an incorrect account number is the most common cause of a held or rejected transfer. For wallet claims, Khalti notes that an incorrect control number or NPR amount can make a claim fail, and a name mismatch causes rejection. Check every character before confirming. If you have already sent and spot an error, contact Coinepay support immediately with your transfer reference.
Compliance review
If your transfer is placed under review, it usually means additional information is needed — such as the purpose of the transfer or proof of your source of funds. Respond promptly through the app to keep things moving.
Delays
Delivery can be affected by the payment method, the chosen payout method, transaction review and the availability of partner systems. A missing transfer purpose, outdated beneficiary KYC or outstanding documents on the receiving side can also hold up a bank wire. Use the status tracker to see where your transfer is.
Returned transfers
If a transfer cannot be delivered — for example because the account is closed, the name does not match, or the wallet is not verified — it may be returned. Correct the details and resend, and reach out to support if you need help understanding why it was returned.

FAQ
What details do I need to send money to Nepal from the UAE?
At minimum you need the recipient's full legal name exactly as on their ID. For a bank deposit, add the bank, branch and account number (and the SWIFT/BIC for a wire). For a wallet, you need a registered, verified mobile number; for cash pickup, the recipient needs the pickup reference and valid ID.
Does Nepal use an IBAN?
No. Nepal has no national IBAN format in SWIFT's registry, so you should not construct one. Use the account number issued by the receiving bank, and include the bank's SWIFT/BIC code for international wires.
Which payout methods can I choose for Nepal?
Coinepay supports bank deposit, mobile wallet (such as eSewa and Khalti by IME) and cash pickup for the UAE-to-Nepal route. Wallets must be KYC-verified and the beneficiary name must match the wallet or ID record.
Why might my transfer be delayed or returned?
Common causes include a mismatched name or account number, an incorrect control number or amount for wallet claims, a missing transfer purpose, outdated recipient KYC, or outstanding documents. Compliance review and partner-system availability can also affect timing. Correct details and resend, or contact support.
Will I see the exchange rate and fees before I confirm?
Yes. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and all fees clearly in the app before you confirm the transfer, and every transfer includes status tracking.
