If you need to send money to family, friends or a partner in Bangladesh, you can use Coinepay Global Remittance to pay out to a recipient's mobile wallet. Bangla QR is Bangladesh's national retail-payment standard, built on the EMV merchant-presented QR specification and overseen by Bangladesh Bank. This guide explains what Bangla QR is, what details you need from your recipient, and how to set up a transfer so the money lands in their wallet in Bangladeshi Taka (BDT).

What Bangla QR is and what it is not

Bangla QR is the shared QR code standard that Bangladesh Bank introduced so customers can scan one code at a shop and pay from a bank, mobile financial services (MFS) or e-wallet account. In practice today it is a merchant-payment system: a customer scans a merchant's code, checks the merchant name, and authorizes the payment. Bangladesh Bank has announced plans for interoperable person-to-person (P2P) Bangla QR transfers, but that P2P service is not confirmed to be live in any particular wallet app as of October 2026.

For a cross-border remittance, what matters is the destination wallet behind the code. When you send with Coinepay, you are depositing funds into your recipient's registered mobile wallet in Bangladesh. Your recipient can then spend from that wallet, including by scanning Bangla QR codes at shops once the funds arrive. In other words, Coinepay delivers the money; Bangla QR is how your recipient later pays merchants with it.

Coinepay sends to Bangladesh and almost every other country, with payout by bank account deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup. All transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations.

Before you start

You need a Coinepay account with identity verification (KYC) completed. If you have not registered yet, create an account and finish verification first, then install the app from the App Store or Google Play. Everything below is done from the Coinepay app or the 24/7 self-service dashboard.

Details to collect from your recipient

  • The recipient's full name exactly as registered on their Bangladeshi wallet. Payout networks match the name against the account, so a nickname or spelling difference can cause a failure.
  • The registered mobile number or wallet account ID that identifies the wallet. In Bangladesh the wallet is almost always tied to a local phone number.
  • The wallet or provider they use, so you select the right payout option in the app.
  • That the wallet is active and verified, since unverified wallets have tighter limits and may reject incoming funds.

Ask your recipient to confirm these details directly. A single wrong digit in the phone number sends the money to the wrong person.

Step by step: send to a Bangladeshi mobile wallet

  1. Open Coinepay and start a transfer. Choose Global Remittance or Send Money from the home screen.
  2. Select the destination. Choose Bangladesh as the country and Bangladeshi Taka (BDT) as the payout currency.
  3. Choose the mobile wallet payout method. Pick the wallet payout option and the specific provider your recipient uses.
  4. Enter the recipient details. Type the full name exactly as registered and the registered phone number or account ID. Double-check every character.
  5. Enter the amount. You can usually enter either the amount you want to send or the amount you want the recipient to receive; the app converts between them.
  6. Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the rate, the fees and the amount your recipient will receive before you confirm. The estimated arrival time is also shown on this screen.
  7. Provide any required information. You may be asked for the purpose of the transfer or the source of funds as part of compliance checks. Answer accurately.
  8. Confirm. Review the summary one last time and confirm to submit the transfer.

Tracking the transfer

After you confirm, the transfer gets a status you can follow in the app or dashboard. You will typically see it move through states such as processing, sent and completed, with a reference you can quote to support. Keep this reference until your recipient confirms the money arrived.

If you are wondering how fast it is: transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and the destination country. Mobile wallet payouts are often quick, yet a transfer can take longer if it is selected for a compliance review or if the receiving provider is processing a backlog. The estimate shown before you confirm is your best guide.

How the recipient sees the money

When the payout completes, the funds appear in your recipient's mobile wallet balance, usually with a notification from their wallet provider. From there they can keep the balance, cash out, or spend it, including scanning Bangla QR codes to pay participating merchants. Ask them to check their in-app transaction history if they do not see a push notification.

Recipient wallet limits and verification

Bangladeshi wallets apply their own limits by verification level. Bangladesh Bank originally set a Tk 20,000 daily limit for individuals using static Bangla QR, but a February 2023 circular let institutions set their own per-payment, daily-value and transaction-count limits based on risk, so there is no single figure that applies to every wallet. A fully verified wallet generally accepts more than a basic or unverified one. If your recipient is near a cap, an incoming transfer can be held or rejected. Coinepay does not control the receiving wallet's internal limits, so ask your recipient to confirm their wallet is verified and has room to receive the amount.

Troubleshooting

Wrong phone number or account ID

If you notice a mistake before the transfer is sent, cancel or edit it. Once it is processing, contact Coinepay support immediately with your reference number; recovery depends on whether the funds have already been paid out.

Name mismatch

If the name does not match the registered wallet holder, the payout may be rejected and returned. Re-check the spelling against your recipient's official name on the wallet and resend with the exact details.

Wallet limit reached

If the deposit would push the wallet over its balance or receiving limit, it can be declined. Ask your recipient to cash out or raise their verification level, then try again or send a smaller amount.

Unverified wallet

Unverified or dormant wallets often cannot receive remittances. Your recipient should complete their provider's verification and confirm the account is active before you resend.

Compliance review

Transfers are screened against sanctions lists and local rules. Coinepay may ask you for documents such as the purpose or source of funds. Respond promptly to clear the review. Never try to split a transfer, route it through a third party, or avoid these checks.

Still stuck

Keep your transfer reference and reach the team through support or on Telegram. You can also explore more guides from the Coinepay home page.

A note on availability

Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions, and some services are not available in every jurisdiction. Always use your real identity and your recipient's real registered details. For anything about rates, fees, limits or supported wallets, check the latest information in the Coinepay app.

FAQ

What currency does my recipient in Bangladesh receive?

Payouts to Bangladesh are made in Bangladeshi Taka (BDT). Coinepay shows the exchange rate, fees and the exact amount your recipient will receive before you confirm the transfer.

What details do I need to send money to a Bangladeshi wallet?

You need the recipient's full name exactly as registered on their wallet, their registered mobile number or wallet account ID, and the name of the wallet provider they use. Confirm these directly with your recipient.

How fast will the money arrive?

Transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and destination country. The estimated arrival time is shown in the app before you confirm.

Can my recipient pay shops with Bangla QR after receiving the money?

Yes. Once the funds land in their verified mobile wallet, they can spend the balance, including scanning Bangla QR codes to pay participating merchants in Bangladesh.
