Coinepay Global Remittance lets you send cross-border transfers to Australia, with the exchange rate and fees shown clearly before you confirm. This guide walks through what you need as a sender, the Australian payout methods you can choose, and how to track your transfer from the Coinepay app or dashboard.

Before you start

To send money to Australia you need a Coinepay account with identity verification (KYC) completed. If you have not registered yet, you can create an account and finish verification first, then manage everything from the Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app for iOS and Android.

Every transfer is subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay screens all customers and counterparties against sanctions lists, and may ask for supporting documents such as the purpose of the transfer or the source of funds. Australia is not under comprehensive sanctions and is a supported destination; just make sure your recipient is not a sanctioned person.

What you need from your recipient

Australia's local currency is the Australian dollar (AUD). The details you collect depend on how your recipient wants to receive the money.

Bank account deposit

For a deposit into an Australian bank account, your recipient typically provides:

  • Account name — the recipient's full legal name exactly as held by the bank.
  • Bank name and sometimes the branch address.
  • BSB — the six-digit Bank/State/Branch code that identifies the branch.
  • Account number — length varies by bank (for example, some banks use eight digits, while other payout services accept five to nine digits).
  • SWIFT/BIC — the bank's international code, used to route the payment to Australia.

Australia does not use IBANs. If a form asks for an IBAN or a single account identifier, Australian banks commonly instruct customers to enter the BSB followed by the account number with no spaces or hyphens. IFSC, CLABE and US routing numbers are not the standard identifiers for an Australian bank account, so you should not expect to need them. Ask your recipient to confirm the exact details with their own bank before you send.

PayID (domestic Australian leg)

Some transfers to Australia are completed over the local real-time network using PayID, where the recipient is identified by something like a mobile number or email linked to their bank account. Where this option is offered in Coinepay, your recipient needs their registered PayID and their full legal name. Availability can depend on the recipient's bank and the sender's conditions, so check what appears for your transfer in the app.

Cash pickup

Where cash pickup is available for Australia, your recipient collects the funds at an agent location. They will need to present accepted government photo ID that matches the name on the transfer, plus the transfer reference you share with them. Double-check that the name you enter matches their ID exactly, as agents verify this at the counter.

Mobile wallet

Coinepay supports mobile-wallet payouts in many markets. Which payout methods are offered for Australia can vary, so the authoritative list is always the one shown in your Coinepay app when you select Australia as the destination. Choose the method your recipient has confirmed they can use.

Step-by-step: sending to Australia

  1. Open Global Remittance. In the Coinepay app or dashboard, start a new transfer.
  2. Choose the destination and currency. Select Australia and the payout currency, which is normally Australian dollars (AUD).
  3. Select the payout method. Pick bank deposit, PayID, cash pickup or another option shown for Australia, then enter the recipient details for that method (for a bank deposit, the account name, BSB, account number and SWIFT/BIC).
  4. Review the rate and fees. Coinepay displays the exchange rate and fees for your transfer before you confirm. Check the amount your recipient will receive in AUD and the total you will pay.
  5. Confirm the transfer. Once you are satisfied the details are correct, confirm. If Coinepay needs more information for compliance, you may be asked to provide the purpose or source of funds at this stage.
  6. Track the status. Every transfer has status tracking. Follow it in the app or dashboard, and share the reference with your recipient so they can watch for the funds (or present it at a cash-pickup counter).

Recipient-side considerations in Australia

A few things are worth knowing so your recipient is not caught off guard:

  • Australian banks and licensed remittance providers have their own reporting duties under AUSTRAC rules for international funds transfers. This is a provider obligation, not something the recipient normally has to file themselves.
  • The widely cited A$10,000 threshold reporting rule relates to physical currency transactions, not to an electronic transfer simply because it reaches that amount.
  • A recipient does not need to make a cross-border cash declaration for money received through a bank or money-transfer business; carrying physical cash across the border has separate rules.
  • For tax, the nature of the payment matters. A genuine personal gift from overseas is generally not assessable income in Australia, but assessable foreign income must be declared. If in doubt, your recipient should check with a tax professional or the ATO.

Coinepay cannot give tax advice, so treat the above as general context only.

Troubleshooting

Wrong recipient details

An incorrect account number, BSB or recipient name can delay a payout or cause the receiving bank to reject and return the transfer. A closed account can also trigger a return. Compare every field against what your recipient's bank provided before you confirm, and fix any mismatch between the account name and the recipient's legal name.

Compliance review

Security or compliance checks may pause a transfer and prompt a request for identity or source-of-funds information. Respond promptly with the documents Coinepay requests. In some cases these checks can prevent a transfer from completing; if that happens, follow the guidance shown in your dashboard or contact support.

Delays

International payments pass through several stages, any of which can add time: your funding method, currency conversion, the Australian receiving bank's processing, and any intermediary banks on the route. Weekends and public holidays in either country can extend delivery. Check the live status in the app before assuming something is wrong.

Returned transfers

If a transfer is returned — for example because of wrong details or a closed account — the funds generally come back so you can correct the information and try again. Use the in-app status and your transfer reference when you reach out for help.

If you are unsure which payout method to choose, or a transfer is held for review, contact Coinepay support or reach the team on Telegram. Have your transfer reference and recipient details ready so the team can look into it quickly.

FAQ

What details do I need to send money to an Australian bank account?

You typically need the recipient's full legal account name, the bank name, the six-digit BSB, the account number, and the bank's SWIFT/BIC. Australia does not use IBANs. Ask your recipient to confirm the exact details with their bank.

Does Australia use an IBAN?

No. Australian accounts are identified by a BSB (branch code) and an account number. If a form requires a single identifier, Australian banks commonly tell customers to enter the BSB followed by the account number with no spaces or hyphens.

Which payout methods can I use to send money to Australia?

Bank account deposit is widely available, and cash pickup and PayID (the local Australian leg) may be offered. The methods shown in your Coinepay app when you select Australia are the authoritative list, so choose the one your recipient has confirmed they can use.

How do I know the exchange rate and fees before sending?

Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees for your transfer before you confirm, along with the amount your recipient will receive in AUD. Review these on the confirmation screen, then confirm.

Why might my transfer to Australia be delayed or returned?

Wrong account number, BSB or recipient name, or a closed account, can delay or return a payout. Compliance checks, currency conversion, receiving-bank processing, intermediary banks, weekends and holidays can also add time. Track the status in the app and contact support if needed.
