You can try paying for a STRATO hosting order with a Coinepay virtual card if card payment is offered for the product and storefront you choose. STRATO operates country-specific sites with different plans and payment terms, so check the order summary and available payment methods before you commit.

Before you start

Register for Coinepay and complete identity verification before using its card services. You can then find your virtual card number, expiry date and CVV in the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard. Check your available funds and the card details in the app before ordering. If you need to confirm a card requirement, contact Coinepay support.

Have your real customer and billing details ready, along with access to the phone or device you use for payment verification. Select the STRATO storefront appropriate to you; do not enter an invented address or use another region’s details to get past a checkout restriction. If you are unsure whether STRATO will accept your order or payment method, ask STRATO before purchasing.

Check the card option first: STRATO’s German and Dutch terms list credit cards among payment methods, while its Spanish hosting guidance describes credit and debit cards. These descriptions do not establish that every virtual card qualifies. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the relevant card requirement before you buy, and check which methods STRATO actually offers for your order. German terms say methods may be excluded for particular product groups.

Choose a STRATO hosting plan and review the term

STRATO’s shared-hosting names vary by country. For example, Germany lists Hosting Starter, Basic, Plus and Pro; the Netherlands lists Hosting Starter, Basic, Advanced and Pro; and Spain lists Hosting Básico, Avanzado, Profesional and Premium. STRATO sells separate domain, WordPress, website-builder, server and HiDrive products, so make sure the basket contains the service you intend to buy.

Compare the introductory period with the later rate and check the minimum term, tax treatment, billing interval and any extras in the checkout summary. An advertised monthly rate does not necessarily mean a month-to-month contract or a monthly charge. For a concrete example, at the time of writing (October 2026), Germany’s advertised 12-month Hosting Basic option was €1 per month for 12 months, then €9 per month, including VAT; that option listed no setup fee. Prices and offers can change, so verify the current figures on STRATO’s official hosting page and in your basket rather than relying on this example.

How to place the order with your virtual card

  1. Get your Coinepay card ready. Register with Coinepay if needed, complete identity verification, and open your virtual card details in the app or dashboard. Check that you have enough available funds for the amount STRATO shows as due, allowing for any applicable taxes or extras shown at checkout.
  2. Choose the product and term. On the appropriate STRATO country site, select your hosting plan and contract option, then add it to the basket. Review the contents before proceeding, particularly if you selected a domain or optional service during configuration.
  3. Enter your customer information. Supply your real name, contact information and billing details in STRATO’s order flow. Review the term and the amount payable now as well as the terms for later invoices.
  4. Check the payment methods displayed. If STRATO offers a suitable card option for this order, choose it and enter your Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV. Do not assume that a card option advertised for another country or product will appear in your checkout. If no suitable card option is offered, do not try to submit card details through another field; ask STRATO which payment methods apply.
  5. Complete any verification and submit. Follow any payment-authentication prompt shown during checkout and wait for STRATO’s order confirmation. Some German hosting and server orders also require an SMS activation code before processing; follow STRATO’s instructions if one is requested.
  6. Keep the account details. STRATO supplies a customer number and access details after ordering. Save your order confirmation and use the customer number when you need to review invoices or payment settings.

Payment setup is not necessarily a one-time task. STRATO’s Spanish guidance says it retains the payment method selected during ordering and charges it when it generates invoices, including subsequent invoices. Keep track of future bills and ensure the payment details remain current. Check your STRATO account and the Coinepay app rather than assuming an introductory offer covers the full contract.

Where to check bills and update payment details

The account menus differ by storefront. In STRATO’s German customer login, use Account information → Customer data for bank or payment details, Invoices to view bills, and Contracts for plan changes or cancellation. Changes to customer bank details can apply across packages under the same customer number, so review the affected services before saving a change.

On STRATO’s Spanish site, log in with your customer number, rather than only a domain. The documented route to payment settings is My contract → Change personal details → Payment method → Modify. If a bill remains unpaid, use View invoices → Pay invoice to attempt payment again. Menu names may be translated differently in your account; use the invoice and contract sections for your storefront if you do not see those exact labels.

What to do if STRATO declines the card

A declined payment does not, by itself, identify the cause. Read the message shown by STRATO or the payment-verification screen, check whether an invoice was created, and avoid repeatedly resubmitting unchanged details. STRATO documents expired, replaced or otherwise invalid card details as reasons an automatic card collection can fail; an affected invoice may remain unpaid until you update the details and retry. The following checks also help narrow down common checkout problems:

  • Insufficient available funds: Compare your Coinepay available funds with the full amount STRATO shows due now, including tax or extras in the order summary. If funds are insufficient, resolve that in your Coinepay account before retrying. Do not assume an introductory monthly price is the amount collected at checkout.
  • Billing details do not match: Recheck your name, address and card entries for typing errors. Use your real billing details consistently. If STRATO rejects your legitimate address or cannot serve your location, contact STRATO rather than changing it to a different one.
  • Authentication does not finish: If a 3-D Secure or other card-verification prompt appears, complete it on the device or screen provided and return to checkout. If it expires or fails, start a fresh payment attempt and check your Coinepay app for relevant information. Ask Coinepay support for help with a card-authentication problem; ask STRATO whether the order or invoice is still pending.
  • Card details have changed: Check the expiry date and number against your current Coinepay card details. STRATO’s Dutch and French help material specifically identifies expired or replaced cards as causes of failed automatic collection. Update the stored details through your storefront’s payment settings before retrying an unpaid invoice.
  • Merchant or region checks: Confirm that you are ordering on the intended country storefront and that its checkout actually offers a card option for your product. Card requirements and available methods vary; a card being available in your Coinepay account does not establish STRATO acceptance. Ask STRATO about order eligibility and its displayed payment methods, and contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the stated requirements.

Do not confuse card declines with direct-debit failures. STRATO separately documents issues such as insufficient funds or incorrect bank-account details for returned direct debits. If STRATO’s notice refers to a bank debit rather than your card, use the remedy for that payment method.

Manage the contract after payment

Keep your STRATO customer number, invoices and renewal date accessible. If you need to change or end a German hosting contract, check Contracts in the customer login. For German packages, STRATO documents Contracts / Cancellation and reversal as the place to cancel a package or individual items. Cancelling only the last domain does not cancel its paid hosting package. STRATO says it must receive an ordinary cancellation one month before the current term ends; check the terms applicable to your own order.

If you have just placed an order and want to undo it, check the applicable STRATO cancellation and withdrawal instructions rather than simply letting a payment fail. On its German help pages, STRATO describes a 30-day money-back cancellation option for an order and warns that immediate termination outside that process does not refund unused prepaid fees. Confirm the conditions for your storefront and product directly with STRATO.
