Figma Professional unlocks unlimited files, version history and team collaboration for design work. If you want to pay for it with a Coinepay virtual card, this guide walks through what you need, how the Figma checkout works, and what to do if a payment is declined. It is written for individuals and small teams setting up a new Professional subscription.

Before you start: what you need

Figma bills each Professional team as a separate subscription, so you will be paying per seat. Have these ready before you reach checkout:

  • A registered, identity-verified Coinepay account. You must complete KYC before using card services. If you have not signed up yet, create your Coinepay account and finish verification first.
  • A Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV, which are issued instantly once your card is created in the Coinepay app or dashboard.
  • Enough available balance on the card to cover the first charge. Figma charges the card and upgrades immediately, and it bills the subscription term in advance.
  • Your real billing address. Use the name and address tied to your Coinepay account, not an invented one.
  • A Figma account. You can create a free one with email and password or with Google; organization members may use their company SAML SSO.
Important: Figma states that a new Professional upgrade currently requires a credit card. Its general payment pages mention credit cards, debit cards and SEPA direct debit, but the upgrade-specific instructions say "credit card," and which debit cards work for a new Professional checkout is not something Figma spells out publicly. Coinepay does not publish whether its card is prepaid, debit or credit, so before you buy, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets Figma's requirement.

Figma Professional pricing to expect

At the time of writing (October 2026), Figma's public USD list prices for Professional are, per seat per month: Full $20, Dev $15 and Collab $5 on monthly billing, or roughly Full $16, Dev $12 and Collab $3 as annual-rate equivalents on annual billing. Starter remains free. Full, Dev, Collab and free View are seat types within the Professional plan, not separate plans.

These are list prices that exclude applicable tax, and amounts in GBP, CAD, EUR or JPY are not a simple conversion of the USD figures. Always confirm the exact total on Figma's own pricing page and at checkout, since prices vary by region and change over time. Any Figma AI-credit add-ons are billed separately from seat fees.

Step 1: Create or open your Coinepay virtual card

  1. Log in to the Coinepay app (iOS or Google Play) or the web dashboard.
  2. Create a virtual card if you do not already have one, and note the card number, expiry and CVV.
  3. Top the card up so the balance comfortably covers the first charge plus any tax Figma adds at checkout.

If you run ad accounts or multiple tools, you can keep a dedicated card for software subscriptions and set a custom spending limit on it, which makes recurring charges easier to track.

Step 2: Set up your Figma account and team

Figma Professional is tied to a team. You have two common paths:

  • New team: create a team, invite or skip collaborators, select Professional, choose each member's seat type (Full, Dev, Collab or View), then enter payment information.
  • Upgrade an existing Starter team: in the file browser, click the team's Free badge, select Professional and the seats you want.

Step 3: Complete checkout with your Coinepay card

When upgrading an existing team, Figma walks you through Next: Payment → Next: Review → agree to the Terms → Complete purchase. At the payment step:

  1. Enter your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV exactly as shown in the app.
  2. Enter the billing address that matches your Coinepay account details.
  3. Review the seat count, billing cycle (monthly or annual) and the quoted total, including tax, on the Review screen.
  4. Agree to Figma's Terms and select Complete purchase. If a 3-D Secure (3DS) prompt appears, approve it in the Coinepay app or via the verification method on your account.

Figma says it charges the card and upgrades the team immediately on success. Professional subscriptions renew automatically, and paid seats added mid-term default to monthly pricing unless you change them to annual.

Step 4: Check and manage billing later

Once you own a Professional team, a team owner or admin can view the billing overview, next invoice and invoice history at file browser → Admin → Billing. To change the card on file, go to file browser → Admin → Settings → Billing → Payment details. The payment-update control may not appear until a plan has actually been purchased.

Troubleshooting: card declined or payment failed

Figma users have reported messages such as "payment failed," a card "declined due to frequent repeated attempts," and "There was an issue with loading our payment form. Please refresh and try again." Work through the likely causes below.

Insufficient balance

Confirm the Coinepay card has enough to cover the seat total plus any tax Figma adds. Top up in the app and retry. Remember renewals bill in advance, so keep a buffer.

Billing address or currency mismatch

Some users hit restrictions like "Your payment method's address is in a country that can't pay in EUR." Make sure the billing address you enter matches your Coinepay account, and that the billing currency Figma offers is appropriate for your region. Figma confirms GBP, CAD, EUR, JPY and USD as billing currencies, but does not publish a full country-by-currency eligibility list. Do not use a false address to work around this.

3-D Secure verification

If checkout asks for extra authentication, complete the 3DS step promptly. Keep the Coinepay app open so you can approve the prompt without timing out, then let the page finish loading.

Repeated attempts triggering a block

Figma's community support has noted that repeated failed attempts can cause an issuer-side block. Avoid submitting the same payment many times in a row. If you have retried several times, pause, confirm the card details are correct, and check your Coinepay app or contact support before trying again.

Card type restriction

Because a new Professional upgrade is described as requiring a credit card, a decline may reflect the card type rather than your balance. If payment fails and the card is funded, reach out to Coinepay support to confirm your card is suitable for this checkout.

Form error

The "issue with loading our payment form" message is a page error, not a card decline. Refresh, clear the browser cache or try another browser, then re-enter your details.

If a renewal payment fails

Figma retries a failed subscription payment for up to 21 days. During that window an admin can update payment details or open and pay the invoice from Figma's invoice details. Continued failure can leave files viewable but not editable until payment succeeds.

Availability, cancellation and refunds

Figma does not offer paid services to new customers located in Russia, and access for existing accounts can be restricted under US, UK or EU sanctions. Coinepay likewise does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of comprehensively sanctioned jurisdictions. Use the service only where both Figma and Coinepay are available to you.

To stop a subscription, go to file browser → team Admin → Settings → Plan → Cancel plan and pick a reason. The team keeps Professional access until the end of the current billing period, then downgrades to Starter. Cancelling prevents the next renewal but does not ordinarily refund fees already paid. A limited Terms exception lets a customer who objects to a mid-term price change terminate and receive a refund of prepaid unused fees if they give notice within 30 days of the change notice.

FAQ

Can I pay for Figma Professional with a Coinepay virtual card?

You can enter your Coinepay virtual card at Figma's payment step. However, Figma states that a new Professional upgrade currently requires a credit card, and Coinepay does not publish its card type, so contact Coinepay support to confirm your card is suitable before you buy.

How much does Figma Professional cost?

At the time of writing (October 2026), USD monthly list prices are Full $20, Dev $15 and Collab $5 per seat per month, with lower annual-rate equivalents. Prices exclude tax and vary by region, so confirm the total on Figma's official pricing page and at checkout.

Why was my card declined at Figma checkout?

Common causes include insufficient balance, a billing address or currency mismatch, an unmet 3-D Secure prompt, repeated attempts triggering an issuer block, or the card type not matching Figma's credit-card requirement. Check each, and avoid retrying many times in a row.

What happens if a Figma renewal payment fails?

Figma retries a failed subscription payment for up to 21 days. An admin can update payment details or pay the invoice from Figma's invoice details. If payment keeps failing, files may become viewable but not editable until a successful charge.

How do I cancel Figma Professional?

Go to file browser → team Admin → Settings → Plan → Cancel plan and select a reason. The team keeps Professional access until the current billing period ends, then downgrades to Starter. Cancelling does not ordinarily refund fees already paid.
