You can start using Amplitude on its Free plan without entering a card. If you want to upgrade to Plus, you can review the price at checkout and try paying with a Coinepay virtual card. Amplitude specifies credit cards for self-serve Plus purchases, so contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets that requirement before you buy. Card acceptance remains subject to Amplitude’s checkout checks.
Choose the Amplitude plan you need
Amplitude’s standard plans are Free, Plus, Growth, and Enterprise. Free is useful if you want to create an organization and explore the product before arranging payment. At the time of writing (October 2026), Amplitude listed Free at US$0, with 2 million events per month, no card requirement, and no time limit.
Plus is the self-serve upgrade covered in this guide. At the time of writing (October 2026), its public pricing started at US$0 for the first 2 million events per month and scaled with event volume up to 70 million events. Plus still requires a card. The pricing page provides a monthly-bill estimator rather than one fixed price for every usage level. Check Amplitude’s official pricing page and the amount shown at checkout before committing; applicable taxes may also appear.
Growth and Enterprise have custom, event-based pricing arranged through Amplitude sales rather than a standard self-serve Plus checkout. Amplitude also describes a temporary Startups plan for eligible organizations with fewer than 20 employees and less than US$10 million in funding. It provides one year of Growth at no cost and is not another standard paid tier.
What you need before paying
- An Amplitude account: Sign up through Amplitude’s official site. You can begin on Free without a card, then decide whether Plus fits your expected event volume.
- A Coinepay account ready for card use: Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using its virtual card services. Your card number, expiry date, and CVV are available after the card is issued.
- Your real billing information: Have the name and billing address associated with your payment details ready. Enter them accurately at checkout; do not use a fabricated address to satisfy a regional or payment check.
- Funds for the purchase: Review the checkout total, including any displayed taxes or applicable add-ons, and check your available card funds in the Coinepay app or dashboard.
- Confirmation of the card requirement: Amplitude’s Plus billing guidance says self-serve monthly and annual purchases are credit-card-only. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement before you buy. Do not assume that having card details guarantees acceptance.
Coinepay’s services may not be available in every jurisdiction. Amplitude also applies its own eligibility and payment rules. Use your genuine account and billing details, and check the applicable terms if you are unsure whether you can subscribe from your location.
How to sign up and check out with Plus
- Create your Amplitude account. Visit Amplitude’s official site, choose the sign-up option, and complete the account and organization setup prompts. Free does not require a credit card, so you can review the workspace before upgrading.
- Find the upgrade controls. In Amplitude, open the gear-icon Settings area and go to Organization Settings → Plans & Billing. This area shows plan and usage information and provides the route to upgrade to Plus. If the navigation labels differ in your workspace, look for Plans & Billing under Settings.
- Review the Plus offer. Compare your expected event volume with the current pricing display. Check whether the purchase is monthly or annual and read any additional-usage terms shown for your selection. Do not treat the starting price as a promise that your organization’s bill will remain at zero.
- Open checkout. Amplitude presents Plus purchase or upgrade fees on a Stripe payment checkout page. Applicable add-on fees may appear instead in an in-product checkout. Check the displayed charge, billing interval, taxes if shown, and any additional-usage information before entering payment details.
- Enter your Coinepay card details. Retrieve the virtual card number, expiry date, and CVV from the Coinepay app or 24/7 self-service dashboard. Enter the card and your real billing details into Amplitude’s checkout. Complete any authentication prompt if one appears; do not repeatedly submit the payment while an authentication step is pending.
- Confirm and verify. Submit only after reviewing the final amount and terms. Return to Settings → Plans & Billing to check the plan information. For Plus receipts, invoices, and billing information, select Manage Billing from that area.
If you need Growth or Enterprise instead, use Amplitude’s pricing page to contact its sales team for an offer. This guide’s self-serve checkout steps are for Plus and should not be taken as the payment process for a custom contract.
If your card is declined
A decline does not identify its cause by itself. Check the message actually displayed at checkout and avoid assuming that one explanation applies to every failed payment. Amplitude’s billing guidance says failed Plus charges may be retried, so also inspect your billing status before submitting the same purchase again.
- Insufficient available funds: Compare the available funds shown in Coinepay with the full checkout amount, not just the starting Plus price. Allow for any taxes or charges displayed in checkout. If needed, arrange funds through the options available in your Coinepay account, then retry once the balance is sufficient.
- Billing address or name mismatch: Recheck spelling, postal code, country, and other requested details against your genuine billing information. Correct a typo rather than substituting a different person’s address or changing countries to make the form accept the payment.
- 3-D Secure or another authentication step: If checkout asks you to verify the payment, follow the prompt and check whether an approval request or instruction appears in your card account. If the step times out or does not complete, check the payment status before trying again. Contact Coinepay support if you need help identifying what happened on the card side.
- Card-type or merchant region checks: Amplitude specifies credit cards for self-serve Plus. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets that requirement before you buy. If Amplitude indicates that your location or payment details are ineligible, ask Amplitude billing support about the restriction; do not attempt to bypass it.
If the charge appears on your card but your Amplitude plan has not changed, keep the transaction details and contact Amplitude billing support before making another payment. For a card-side decline, Coinepay support can help you review the card status; Amplitude can explain a checkout or account-side restriction.
Manage renewal, invoices, and cancellation
Plus renews automatically on the monthly or annual schedule selected for the subscription. To review invoices, receipts, and billing information, open Settings → Organization Settings → Plans & Billing → Manage Billing. Monitor your usage and the applicable pricing terms so a starting price does not come as a surprise when usage increases.
To stop renewal, go to Settings → Organization Settings → Plans & Billing → Manage Billing → Cancel Plan before the renewal date. Amplitude says Plus access continues through the current subscription period after cancellation. Fees already paid are generally non-refundable, although the Plus terms provide a pro-rata refund of prepaid remaining-term fees for termination due to Amplitude’s material breach under specified conditions. For an exceptional refund request or billing dispute, contact [email protected]; an exception is not guaranteed.
Finally, payment eligibility is not a way around service restrictions. Amplitude prohibits use involving sanctioned persons and the comprehensively sanctioned places listed in its terms, and it has reported that it stopped serving persons located in Russia. If your organization’s eligibility is uncertain, resolve that with Amplitude before purchasing.
