Alaska Airlines sells its flight subscriptions under the Flight Pass brand, and the sign-up charges your card every month for a full year. This guide explains what you need before you start, walks through the sign-up and flight-checkout flow, and covers the most common reasons a card is declined so you can fix them quickly. It uses a Coinepay virtual card as the example payment method.
What you need before you start
Alaska Airlines manages Flight Pass through its own subscription site and moves flight booking onto alaskaair.com. To complete a purchase you will need:
- An Atmos Rewards account (you connect an existing one or create it during sign-up).
- Your real traveler details and a billing address that matches your card.
- A valid card accepted for the recurring subscription charge.
- A Coinepay virtual card with its card number, expiry and CVV, created and funded in the Coinepay app.
To get a Coinepay card, register for an account, complete identity verification (KYC), and issue a virtual card from the dashboard or the iOS or Android app. Card issuance and funds are handled by licensed partner institutions, and some services are not available in every jurisdiction.
Important: Alaska's Flight Pass terms specify a credit card for the recurring monthly charge, and they state that eWallet credit cannot pay the monthly subscription fee. Which card networks or card types work specifically for Flight Pass is not published in those terms. Because of this, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets Alaska's requirement before you buy, rather than assuming it will be accepted.
Choose a Flight Pass plan
Alaska streamlined Flight Pass to two plans in its 2024 update and phased out older tiers. The two plans advertised for new sign-up are:
| Plan | Round-trip credits | U.S. price (observed Oct 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Flight Pass | One credit every two months (six per year) | $69/month for 12 months |
| Flight Pass Plus | One credit monthly (12 per year) | $129/month for 12 months |
The published price table is in U.S. dollars; prices in other currencies are not confirmed, so always check the current figure on the official Alaska Airlines Flight Pass page before you commit. Note that Alaska Access is being discontinued and is not offered as a new ongoing plan, so any low monthly figure you see referenced for it is an existing-member reference, not a new sign-up offer.
Credits cover eligible nonstop round trips within California, or between California and Nevada, Arizona or Utah — not connecting itineraries or other airlines. You must be at least 18. Whether residence outside the United States prevents sign-up is not confirmed in Alaska's materials, so if you are unsure, check with Alaska Airlines directly.
Step-by-step: subscribe with your Coinepay card
- In the Coinepay app, open or create a virtual card and make sure it is funded. Plan for 12 monthly charges at the plan price, not just the first month.
- Go to the Alaska Airlines Flight Pass subscription site and select Flight Pass or Flight Pass Plus.
- Connect or join your Atmos Rewards account. Checkout redirects back to the subscription flow after you sign in.
- Provide the required traveler details using your real name and address.
- At the payment step, enter your Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV. Enter the billing address exactly as it appears in your Coinepay profile.
- Review the terms and authorize 12 monthly card payments. Flight Pass has a mandatory 12-month term, so you are agreeing to the full year.
- Complete any 3-D Secure confirmation if prompted, then submit. Keep the confirmation for your records.
Renewals are processed on the first of each month. After the initial 12-month term the subscription renews for another year unless you cancel through the subscription portal or by calling Alaska before renewal.
Paying for the flights themselves
Owning a Flight Pass does not fully cover ticket costs. When you redeem a credit you still pay the displayed fare plus taxes and fees at booking:
- Sign in at alaskaair.com and redeem a credit for an eligible round trip.
- Select your nonstop flights within the covered region.
- Pay the shown fares, taxes and fees with a valid card. Most eligible fares are listed at $0.01 per flight plus taxes and fees; Alaska's FAQ gives taxes and fees as $15.11 each way, though some flights carry a higher fare.
A reservation is created only after payment succeeds, so if the charge does not go through, you do not have a seat. You can use your Coinepay card for this step too, keeping in mind the same acceptance note above.
Troubleshooting a declined card
Alaska's terms do not publish a decline-code list; instead the airline alerts you, suspends benefits and credit deposits until payment succeeds, and may collect an unresolved balance later. Work through these common causes:
Insufficient balance
A virtual card needs enough to cover the charge. Because Flight Pass bills monthly for a year, make sure the card stays funded ahead of the first of each month. Top up in the Coinepay app and retry.
Billing address mismatch
If the address you typed does not match your card record, the payment can be rejected. Copy the billing address from your Coinepay profile exactly — street, city, postal code and country — and re-enter it.
3-D Secure / verification
If a confirmation prompt appears and times out, the charge can fail. Keep the Coinepay app handy to approve the step, then submit again.
Merchant card-type or region checks
Alaska requires a credit card for the recurring subscription and does not accept eWallet credit for it; it also restricts credits to specific U.S. regional routes. If your payment is refused and your balance and address are correct, the cause may be a card-type or region check on Alaska's side. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card details meet Alaska's requirement before trying again.
Generic error messages
Some travelers report seeing "There was an error while processing your booking. Please try again." after submitting payment. Reported cases include flight-availability problems rather than card issues, so this message alone does not confirm a decline. Try a different eligible itinerary, wait a few minutes, and retry; if it persists, contact Alaska Airlines.
Refunds and cancellation
Flight Pass is a nonrefundable 12-month commitment. To stop it renewing, request cancellation through the subscription portal or by calling Alaska before the renewal date. Flight Pass tickets are also nonrefundable; if you cancel a reservation while its credit is still valid, the credit may be redeposited and the ticket value returned as eWallet credit rather than a cash refund — which will not refund money back to your Coinepay card.
To change the card on file, sign in to the subscription account; Alaska's FAQ links to My Subscriptions for plan upgrades and management.

FAQ
Can I pay for an Alaska Airlines Flight Pass with a Coinepay virtual card?
You can enter a Coinepay virtual card at checkout, but Alaska's Flight Pass terms require a credit card for the recurring charge and do not publish which card types work. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets Alaska's requirement before you buy.
How much does Flight Pass cost?
As observed in October 2026, Flight Pass is $69/month and Flight Pass Plus is $129/month, each for 12 months, in U.S. dollars. Prices in other currencies are not confirmed, so check the official Alaska Airlines Flight Pass page for the current figure.
Do I still pay for the flights after subscribing?
Yes. When you redeem a credit you pay the displayed fare plus taxes and fees. Most eligible fares are $0.01 per flight plus taxes and fees, with Alaska listing taxes and fees of $15.11 each way; some flights cost more.
Why was my card declined at checkout?
Common causes are insufficient balance, a billing address that doesn't match your card, an unfinished 3-D Secure step, or Alaska's card-type or region checks. Fix the balance and address first, then contact Coinepay support if it still fails.
Can I get a refund if I cancel?
Flight Pass is a nonrefundable 12-month term, and tickets are nonrefundable. Canceling a reservation with a valid credit may redeposit the credit and return the ticket value as eWallet credit, not as a cash refund to your card.
