To send money from abroad to someone who uses India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), first identify where the recipient expects the money to arrive: an IPPB bank account or a separate, UPI-enabled wallet. IPPB offers UPI transfers, but it does not describe a separate IPPB mobile wallet account for receiving remittances. Check the payout methods available for India in Coinepay before collecting the recipient’s details or confirming a transfer.

Where is IPPB used, and what currency does the recipient receive?

IPPB is an Indian payments bank. Its accounts and domestic UPI services operate in Indian rupees (INR). When setting up a Coinepay transfer, select India as the destination and check the payout currency, exchange rate and fees displayed in the app. The available route determines whether Coinepay can pay into the recipient’s IPPB account or another eligible destination; an IPPB account should not be assumed to be a mobile wallet.

Coinepay offers cross-border bank deposits, mobile-wallet payouts and cash pickup, but the choices shown for a particular destination and recipient may differ. If you do not see a suitable IPPB bank-deposit option or a supported wallet payout that matches the recipient’s actual account, do not select a different provider merely because the recipient also uses IPPB. Ask Coinepay support which available route fits the recipient’s details.

Ask the recipient for the right details

Get the recipient’s full legal name exactly as registered with the account or wallet that will receive the payment. Then ask for the identifier required by the payout option displayed in Coinepay. Copy it directly from the recipient’s account details rather than guessing from a contact name or phone number.

  • IPPB bank deposit: Ask for the recipient’s IPPB account number and IFSC if the form requests them. Confirm the account holder’s registered name. A mobile number is not a substitute for a bank account number.
  • UPI-based option, if offered: Ask for the recipient’s actual UPI ID, also called a Virtual Payment Address (VPA), or use a recipient QR code only if the payout flow explicitly supports it. A UPI ID has a format such as user@upihandle; xyz@postbank is an example used by IPPB, not an ID you should enter for someone else.
  • Supported mobile-wallet payout: Ask for the wallet provider and its registered phone number or account ID, whichever Coinepay requests, plus the wallet holder’s registered full name. Confirm that this is an eligible wallet account, not simply the phone number registered with IPPB.

The recipient can check their details in their own banking or wallet app. IPPB customers may use IPPB Mobile Banking or DakPay to manage domestic payments. DakPay’s “send to contact” feature is specifically described for contacts registered on the @postbank handle; it is not evidence that any mobile number can receive a wallet payout. Never ask the recipient for their OTP, MPIN or UPI PIN. Those credentials are for the account holder’s own authentication, not for receiving money.

How to set up the transfer in Coinepay

  1. Open Coinepay and select a cross-border transfer. Use the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app. If you are new to Coinepay, register and complete any identity verification requested before sending.
  2. Choose India as the destination. Enter the amount you intend to send, then review the payout choices the app displays for this transfer.
  3. Select the matching payout method. Choose an IPPB bank-account deposit if that option is offered and the recipient has an IPPB account. If the app lists an IPPB-specific method, follow the identifiers requested on that screen. Choose a mobile-wallet method only if it names the recipient’s actual eligible wallet. Do not assume a general IPPB or UPI option exists when it is not displayed.
  4. Enter and check recipient details. Enter the registered full name and the account number, IFSC, UPI ID, registered phone number or wallet account ID required by the selected route. Compare each character with the details the recipient provided, especially if a phone number or UPI handle looks familiar.
  5. Review before confirming. Coinepay shows the exchange rate, fees and estimated arrival time before you confirm. Check the payout destination, recipient name, amount and any displayed instructions. If the route or recipient identifier does not match, go back rather than confirming.
  6. Confirm and track. Complete any verification requested in the app, confirm the transfer and use its status tracking to follow progress. Keep the transfer reference in case you need help.

Transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and destination country. Use the estimate shown for your particular transfer, and wait for a credited status or confirmation from the recipient before treating it as received.

How the recipient sees the money arrive

For a successful IPPB bank deposit, the recipient should check their IPPB account balance and transaction history through an available IPPB channel, such as IPPB Mobile Banking. The credit should be checked against the expected amount and transfer information; its description may depend on the payment route. A recipient who has not yet set up Mobile Banking can ask IPPB how to view their account activity. Existing customers registering for IPPB Mobile Banking use their registered mobile number, account number, customer ID (CIF) and date of birth, followed by the app’s security setup and OTP authentication.

For a separate mobile-wallet payout, the recipient should check that wallet’s balance or transaction history, not assume the amount will appear as an IPPB account credit. If a supported UPI route is involved, the recipient should verify which underlying account or eligible wallet their UPI ID points to. IPPB also provides DakPay and assisted UPI services, but those domestic channels do not by themselves confirm which international payout route Coinepay offers.

Wallet verification and receiving limits

Verification matters when the destination is a wallet rather than an IPPB bank account. Under Indian rules, a full-KYC prepaid payment instrument wallet may make and receive interoperable UPI payments, while a small PPI cannot be used for funds transfers. The wallet provider may also apply its own balance and transaction limits. Ask the recipient to check their wallet’s verification status and available capacity before you send; do not treat IPPB’s published outward UPI limits as the receiving limits of another wallet.

IPPB account features can depend on the recipient’s account setup. For example, IPPB says DigiSmart Savings Account holders gain access to fund transfers and UPI after biometric verification at a post office or IPPB banking outlet. If the recipient plans to use UPI after receiving a bank deposit, they should check that their own account is eligible. A bank deposit and a subsequent UPI payment are separate actions.

Troubleshooting a missing or delayed credit

  • Wrong phone number or account ID: Check the identifier on the Coinepay transfer against the recipient’s registered details. An IPPB-registered phone number alone does not identify a wallet for payout. If you have already confirmed a transfer with incorrect details, contact Coinepay support immediately with the reference; do not assume it can be stopped or recovered.
  • Name mismatch: Ask the recipient to confirm the full name on the receiving account, including spelling and order. Do not change the name to someone else’s or use a third-party account to bypass a mismatch. Ask support what correction, if any, is possible for a submitted transfer.
  • Wallet limit reached: The recipient should check the wallet provider’s current receiving and balance rules. Do not split a payment to work around limits or reporting requirements. Ask Coinepay support about a suitable, compliant payout method if the selected one cannot receive the amount.
  • Unverified wallet: The recipient should complete the wallet provider’s required verification and confirm that the wallet supports the proposed payout. If it is a small PPI, do not assume it can receive a funds transfer through UPI.
  • Compliance review or pending status: Check Coinepay’s transfer tracking and respond to requests for information. Coinepay may ask for documents concerning the purpose of the transfer or source of funds. Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. If the app shows completion but the recipient cannot find the credit, give support the reference and ask the recipient to check the correct account or wallet history.

Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions. Before confirming an India-bound transfer, make sure the recipient details and selected payout route are accurate and permitted. If you are unsure whether an IPPB account or a particular wallet can receive the payout shown in your app, contact Coinepay support before sending.

FAQ

Can I send to an IPPB account using only the recipient’s mobile number?

Do not assume so. Use the account details or other recipient identifier requested by the payout method shown in Coinepay. An IPPB-registered phone number is not automatically a wallet account number.

Is IPPB itself a mobile wallet?

IPPB is a payments bank. It supports UPI through services including IPPB Mobile Banking and DakPay, but that does not make an IPPB bank account a separate mobile wallet.

What if Coinepay does not show IPPB as a payout method?

Check whether an available bank-deposit route accepts the recipient’s IPPB account details. If no matching route is shown, contact Coinepay support rather than selecting an unrelated wallet.

What should I do if the recipient has not received the money?

Check the transfer status in Coinepay and ask the recipient to review the account or wallet selected for payout. If the status or credit remains unclear, contact Coinepay support with the transfer reference.
