Coinepay Global Remittance lets you send money from Hong Kong to Indonesia and have it paid out in Indonesian rupiah (IDR). You can choose a bank-account deposit, a mobile wallet or cash pickup, and the exchange rate and fees are shown clearly before you confirm. This guide explains what you need from your recipient, how each payout method works, and how to track your transfer from the Coinepay app or dashboard.
Before you start: what the sender needs
To send a cross-border transfer with Coinepay, you must first register and complete identity verification (KYC). Card and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions, and every transfer is subject to sanctions screening and local regulations.
- A verified Coinepay account. If you have not registered yet, create an account and finish verification first.
- The Coinepay mobile app for iOS or Android, or the 24/7 self-service dashboard.
- Your recipient's full legal name exactly as registered with their bank or wallet.
- The payout details for the method you choose (see below).
- Be ready to state the purpose of the transfer and, if asked, provide documents on the source of funds.
The local currency and recipient details
Indonesia's local currency is the Indonesian rupiah (IDR). Indonesia does not use IBAN-format account numbers, so you will use the receiving bank's own account number together with the identifiers your payout method requires. The exact details depend on which payout method your recipient prefers.
Bank-account deposit
Bank deposit is available to Indonesian personal and business accounts. Banks commonly used on this route include BCA, BRI, BNI, Bank Mandiri, CIMB Niaga and Bank Syariah Indonesia. For a bank payout you will generally need:
- The recipient's full name as registered with the bank.
- The bank name.
- The account number. Length is bank-specific \u2013 for example, BCA uses a 10-digit account number for inward remittances, and account numbers across Indonesian banks typically run roughly 7 to 18 digits depending on the bank.
- The receiving bank's SWIFT/BIC for an international bank remittance. For example, BCA publishes CENAIDJA and Bank Mandiri publishes BMRIIDJAXXX. Confirm the correct code with your recipient's bank.
- The payment purpose, which some banks (BCA among them) list as required inward-remittance information.
There is no universal Indonesian branch code, routing number or CLABE for these transfers \u2013 the account number plus the receiving bank's SWIFT code are what the banks specify.
Mobile wallet
If Coinepay offers wallet payout for your transfer, popular Indonesian wallets include DANA, GoPay, OVO and ShopeePay. For a wallet payout you typically need the recipient's full name and the wallet-linked mobile number beginning with +62. Wallets have their own verification-based receiving limits, so make sure the recipient's wallet is verified and able to receive the amount.
Cash pickup
Cash pickup is a common option on the Hong Kong-to-Indonesia route. For cash pickup the recipient usually needs their full name exactly as entered, a valid government photo ID, and the reference number for the transfer. Agent opening hours and time-zone differences can affect when a payout can be collected.
Step-by-step: sending the transfer
- Open Coinepay and start a transfer. In the app or dashboard, choose Global Remittance and start a new send.
- Choose Indonesia as the destination. Select the country and the payout currency (IDR), then pick the payout method \u2013 bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup.
- Enter the recipient details. Type the full legal name and the method-specific details above. Double-check the account number, SWIFT/BIC or +62 mobile number before moving on.
- Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the rate and fees for your transfer clearly before you confirm. Check the amount your recipient will receive and the payout method.
- Add the purpose of the transfer. Enter the reason for the payment and any supporting information if requested; this helps compliance screening and some receiving banks require it.
- Confirm. Once you are satisfied with the details and the quoted rate, confirm the transfer.
- Track the status. Every transfer has status tracking in the app and dashboard. You can follow it from submitted through to paid out, and share the reference with your recipient.
What the recipient should expect
Indonesian financial-service providers are required to report incoming international funds transfers to the authorities (PPATK) as part of their own obligations, regardless of amount \u2013 this is a provider reporting duty, not a charge or action for the recipient. Whether funds can be received in a foreign currency depends on the account and the type of transaction; domestic transactions generally use rupiah, with exceptions such as international commercial transactions and foreign-currency bank deposits. Business and export-related receipts can be subject to separate rules \u2013 for example, banks may request a specific invoice reference for export remittances, and Indonesia's export-proceeds rules were amended effective 1 June 2026. If your transfer relates to trade, ask the recipient's bank what reference details it needs.
Troubleshooting
Wrong or mismatched recipient details
Incorrect, incomplete or mismatched recipient, sender or transaction information can prevent the funds from being credited. The name must match the bank or wallet record, and the account number, SWIFT/BIC or +62 number must be exact. If you spot a mistake after confirming, contact Coinepay support as soon as possible.
Compliance review
Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. A bank or correspondent may request additional information or documents, such as the purpose or source of funds; providing them promptly helps avoid a failed transfer. Sanctions or anti-money-laundering restrictions can prevent an inward remittance from being processed. Never try to work around these checks \u2013 do not split a transfer or route it through a third party.
Delays
Regulatory or foreign-exchange checks, the transfer amount, required recipient action, ID verification, agent hours and time-zone differences can all slow a payout. Keep the status open in the app and make sure your recipient is reachable in case their bank, wallet or pickup agent needs to confirm something.
Wallet limits
Mobile wallets apply their own per-transfer and verification-based receiving limits. If a wallet payout cannot be completed, ask the recipient to verify their wallet, or choose a bank deposit instead.
Returned transfers
If a transfer cannot be paid out \u2013 for example because details were wrong or a review could not be cleared \u2013 it may be returned. Track the status in Coinepay and reach out to support for help correcting the details or arranging a resend.
