Sending money to someone in India? NEFT is a way to credit an Indian bank account, not a mobile wallet identified by a phone number. If you are sending from abroad with Coinepay Global Remittance, first check which payout methods the app offers for your recipient in India. This guide explains the details needed for an account payout, how to review the transfer, and what to do if the recipient does not see the money.
What is NEFT, and where is it used?
National Electronic Funds Transfer (NEFT) is an India-wide payment system operated by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). It moves money between participating accounts in India. The recipient receives funds in Indian rupees (INR).
A standard NEFT instruction identifies the destination with an account number and Indian Financial System Code (IFSC). It does not identify a recipient using only a registered mobile number or wallet account ID. Indian mobile wallets are a separate type of payment product, and whether a wallet provider can receive funds through an account-based arrangement depends on that provider. Do not assume that selecting India, or having the recipient’s phone number, means an NEFT-to-wallet payout is available.
An international remittance and a domestic NEFT transfer are also distinct steps. When sending from abroad, use the India payout choices displayed in Coinepay rather than trying to initiate an ordinary NEFT payment directly from a foreign bank. If the app shows an account payout described as NEFT, follow the account-detail fields it presents. If it shows a mobile-wallet payout instead, follow that wallet’s separate instructions; do not enter a phone number in an account-number field.
Which recipient details should you collect?
Ask the recipient to copy their details from their bank or account provider’s records, and check them together before you confirm. For a standard NEFT account credit, you need:
- Full beneficiary name: use the recipient’s real full name exactly as registered on the destination account.
- Account number: confirm every digit. NEFT credit is based on the account number supplied, so an incorrect number can be consequential even if the name looks right.
- Bank and branch: obtain the name of the bank and the relevant branch.
- IFSC: ask for the branch’s 11-character code. Its format is four letters, a zero, then six branch-identifying characters; check the complete code against the recipient’s account information.
- Account type: ask whether the recipient’s account is a savings, current or other account type, and enter it if requested.
A registered phone number or wallet account ID is not a substitute for these NEFT details. Collect one only if Coinepay presents a separate, supported mobile-wallet payout method that explicitly asks for it. In that case, also use the recipient’s full name as registered with the wallet and check the wallet provider’s instructions for its required identifier. Do not guess the identifier format or substitute a bank account number for a wallet ID.
How to set up and send the transfer in Coinepay
- Open Coinepay Global Remittance. Sign in through the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app. If you are new, register and complete any identity-verification steps requested before sending.
- Choose India as the destination. Enter the amount you want to send or the amount the recipient should receive, as the transfer flow permits. Check the displayed receiving currency.
- Select the appropriate payout method. Look at the options actually offered for this transfer. Choose an account or NEFT-labelled payout only if it appears and matches the recipient’s account details. If you intend to pay a mobile wallet, choose a wallet option only if that option and the recipient’s provider are available; NEFT itself is not a phone-number wallet method.
- Enter and check the beneficiary information. For an account payout, enter the full registered name, account number, bank, branch, IFSC and account type wherever requested. Compare the completed form with details supplied directly by the recipient. For a wallet payout, follow the identifier fields shown for that option instead.
- Review before confirming. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm a remittance. Check the amount the recipient is expected to receive, payout method, destination and beneficiary details. Review the estimated arrival time shown in the app, then confirm only if the information is correct.
- Track the transfer. Use Coinepay’s transfer status tracking after confirmation. Keep the transaction details available in case you need help or the recipient needs to identify the incoming payment.
Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may request documents explaining the purpose of the payment or the source of funds. Provide accurate information and respond through the requested channel; do not send funds on another person’s behalf to avoid a review.
How will the recipient see the money arrive?
For a successful NEFT account credit, the recipient should see an incoming transaction in the destination bank account’s transaction history or statement. They can check their bank’s app, online banking or account notifications, if those are available to them. NEFT operates in half-hourly batches rather than as a phone-number wallet push; a transfer marked as sent may not appear on the recipient’s account screen at the same moment.
If the payout is instead a supported mobile-wallet transfer, the recipient should check that wallet’s balance and transaction history. A bank credit does not automatically mean the same amount will appear in a separate wallet. Some wallet providers may support account-based funding arrangements, but the recipient should verify the applicable process with their provider before you choose that destination.
Wallet verification levels and provider rules can affect whether a wallet can receive or hold an incoming payment. In India, small and full-KYC prepaid payment instruments are treated differently, and providers may apply their own restrictions. Ask the recipient to check their wallet’s verification status, available receiving capacity and current provider rules in the wallet app. These wallet conditions are separate from the requirements for an ordinary NEFT credit to a bank account.
Troubleshooting a missing or unsuccessful payout
Wrong number or account ID
If you entered the wrong bank account number, contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer details. An NEFT credit is based on the supplied account number; do not assume a correct name will prevent a mistaken credit. If the issue involves a wallet phone number or ID, check the identifier entered for the specific wallet payout and contact support. Do not initiate a replacement transfer until you understand what happened to the first one.
Name mismatch or incorrect IFSC
Compare the recipient’s full registered name, account number and IFSC with their bank records. An IFSC identifies a branch, so an incorrect character can affect processing. If an available beneficiary-name check displays a name that differs from the intended recipient, stop and verify the details before proceeding. If you have already confirmed the transfer, give support the transfer reference and explain which detail may be wrong.
Wallet limit reached or wallet unverified
If you selected an actual wallet payout, ask the recipient to check for a capacity or verification notice in the wallet app. A wallet that has not completed its required verification, or cannot accept more funds under its provider’s rules, may be unable to receive the payment. Have the recipient resolve the issue with their wallet provider and ask Coinepay support what options are available for the pending transfer. These wallet issues should not be treated as NEFT account-number errors.
Compliance review or delayed arrival
Check the transfer status in Coinepay and respond to any request for identity, purpose-of-payment or source-of-funds documents. If the recipient still cannot find an account credit, confirm that they are checking the correct bank account rather than only a wallet balance. When contacting support, provide the Coinepay transfer reference, date, amount and beneficiary details. If a bank provides a NEFT transaction reference or UTR, keep it for tracing with the receiving institution. Never resend solely because a transfer is under review or has not yet appeared.
For help before you confirm an India payout—or if the method you need is not shown—contact Coinepay support. They can help you check the available options for your transfer without assuming that a particular wallet accepts NEFT.

FAQ
Can I send a standard NEFT transfer using only a mobile number?
No. A standard NEFT credit uses a bank account number and IFSC. Use a phone number only if a separate, supported wallet payout explicitly asks for it.
What country and currency does NEFT use?
NEFT is an Indian payment system for account credits in Indian rupees (INR). Check the India payout options shown in Coinepay when sending from abroad.
What if the recipient’s name does not match the account details?
Pause before confirming and ask the recipient to verify their full registered name, account number and IFSC. If you already sent the transfer, contact Coinepay support with the transfer reference.
Will an NEFT account credit appear in the recipient’s mobile wallet?
Not necessarily. A standard NEFT credit appears in the destination bank account. A separate wallet balance depends on the wallet provider’s arrangements and the payout method selected.
