Coinepay Global Remittance lets you send money from the United Kingdom to India quickly and from a single dashboard. India's local currency is the Indian rupee (INR), and your recipient can receive funds in several ways. This guide explains what you need before you start, how each local payout method works, and how to track a transfer from send to delivery.
Coinepay supports transfers to India from the United Kingdom. Every transfer is subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations, and Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees clearly before you confirm.
Before you start: what the sender needs
To send money with Coinepay you must first register and complete identity verification (KYC). You can do everything from the Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app for iOS and Android. If you have not signed up yet, create your account and finish verification before you begin.
Collect your recipient's details in advance. For an Indian recipient you will generally need:
- Recipient's full legal name, exactly as it appears on their bank account or ID.
- The payout details for the method you choose (see the sections below).
- The purpose of the payment — for example family maintenance or a personal gift. India distinguishes between these (for instance, family maintenance and savings versus personal gifts), and stating the genuine purpose helps avoid delays.
Note that India has no national IBAN format, so do not expect an IBAN for an Indian account. Use the Indian account details required for the method you select instead.
Choosing a local payout method
Coinepay supports common local payout options. Which methods are available for a given transfer is shown in the app. Here is what each one typically involves and what your recipient needs.
Bank account deposit
This credits funds directly to an Indian bank account. You will usually need the recipient's full name, their bank account number, and the IFSC (Indian Financial System Code) that identifies their branch. An IFSC is 11 characters: four bank-identifying characters, a zero in the fifth position and six branch-identifying characters. Indian account numbers do not follow one universal length, so copy the number exactly as the recipient's bank shows it.
For some routes a direct international SWIFT wire may be used. In that case the receiving bank provides its own instructions — typically its SWIFT/BIC code, the beneficiary's account number and name, the branch address, and a mandatory purpose code. For example, HDFC Bank's inward-remittance form requires a valid purpose code, and a missing one can put the payment on hold or cause it to be returned. Always obtain the receiving bank's exact requirements.
UPI
A UPI-ID payout credits the recipient's UPI-linked bank account. Ask the recipient for their UPI ID and confirm it is linked to the account they want the money in. A UPI payout settles into a bank account rather than a standalone wallet balance.
Mobile wallets
Coinepay supports popular local mobile wallets across many countries. In India, prepaid-wallet-style payouts are governed by specific rules, so wallet availability for a particular UK-to-India transfer depends on the route and is shown in the app at the time you send. If a wallet option appears, you will typically need the recipient's registered mobile number or wallet ID.
Cash pickup
With cash pickup the recipient collects funds in person at a payout location. They will need the reference or control number from the transfer and a valid government photo ID matching the name you entered. Indian rules cap how much can be paid in cash under certain inward-remittance schemes, with larger amounts credited to a bank account, so cash pickup may not suit every amount.
Step-by-step: send money to India
- Open Coinepay and start a transfer. Sign in to the dashboard or app and choose Global Remittance.
- Choose the destination and currency. Select India as the destination and INR as the payout currency (or the currency options shown for your route).
- Select the payout method. Choose bank deposit, UPI, a mobile wallet or cash pickup from the options available for this transfer.
- Enter the recipient details. Add the recipient's full legal name and the fields for your chosen method — account number and IFSC for a bank deposit, UPI ID for UPI, mobile number for a wallet, or recipient details for cash pickup. Double-check every character.
- State the purpose. Select the genuine purpose of the payment. This helps your transfer clear compliance and reach the recipient's bank correctly.
- Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the rate and fees clearly before you confirm. Review the amount your recipient will receive.
- Confirm and pay. Confirm the transfer to submit it. Coinepay may ask for documents such as the purpose or source of funds as part of verification and sanctions screening.
- Track the status. Every transfer has status tracking. Follow it in the dashboard or app from submitted through to delivered.
Recipient-side considerations
Explain to your recipient what to expect. For a bank deposit or UPI payout, funds land in their bank account. For cash pickup, they bring ID and the reference number. Keep in mind:
- Certain inward-remittance arrangements in India are intended for personal remittances such as family maintenance and do not cover purposes like trade payments, property purchases or investments. Choose the correct route and purpose for your situation.
- Depending on the transfer and its purpose, your recipient may need a Foreign Inward Remittance Certificate (FIRC) for their own records or tax purposes. This is not required for every transfer.
- Indian tax rules treat gifts from specified relatives differently from other gifts. If you are sending a gift, your recipient may wish to check how local rules apply to them.
- For some business receipts, the recipient may need to supply payer details and an invoice before funds are released to their Indian bank account.
Troubleshooting
Wrong recipient details
Incorrect account details are a common reason a receiving bank rejects and returns a payment. Verify the account number, IFSC, UPI ID or mobile number before you confirm. If you spot a mistake after sending, contact Coinepay support as soon as possible.
Compliance review
Identity or compliance checks, missing requested documents or a recipient-information mismatch can place a transfer under review. Respond promptly to any request for the purpose or source of funds so the check can clear.
Delays
A transfer can be delayed by a provider's review, temporary bank or pickup-provider outages, or an incorrect or missing purpose code. For SWIFT wires in particular, a missing valid purpose code can cause a bank to hold or return the funds, so make sure the purpose is correct.
Returned transfers
A payment may be returned if details are wrong, if a required purpose code is missing, or sometimes even when the details are correct and the receiving bank declines it. Track the status in the app, and if a transfer is returned, contact Coinepay support or reach out on Telegram for help with next steps.

FAQ
What details do I need to send money to a bank account in India?
You generally need the recipient's full legal name, their Indian bank account number and the 11-character IFSC that identifies their branch. For a direct SWIFT wire, the receiving bank will also require its SWIFT/BIC code and a valid purpose code. India has no national IBAN, so use the account details the recipient's bank provides.
Which payout methods can I choose for India?
Coinepay supports common local methods including bank account deposit, UPI (which credits the recipient's UPI-linked bank account), mobile wallets and cash pickup. The methods available for your specific transfer are shown in the Coinepay app when you set it up.
Why do I need to state a purpose for the payment?
India distinguishes between purposes such as family maintenance and personal gifts, and banks require a valid purpose code for incoming wires. Stating the genuine purpose helps your transfer clear compliance; a missing or incorrect code can cause delays, holds or a returned payment.
How much will the transfer cost and how long will it take?
Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees clearly before you confirm, so you can review them in the app for your specific transfer. Delivery time depends on the payout method and any compliance checks; you can follow progress with status tracking in the dashboard or app.
What should I do if I entered the wrong recipient details?
Contact Coinepay support as soon as possible. Incorrect account details can cause the receiving bank to reject and return the payment, so acting quickly gives the best chance to correct or recover the transfer.
