Amazon SageMaker does not have a standard monthly subscription checkout. You create an AWS account, choose or enter an account plan, and pay for eligible SageMaker usage through AWS billing. If you hope to use a Coinepay virtual card, check AWS’s payment rules first: AWS says virtual credit cards are not accepted for AWS services. Do not assume a Coinepay card qualifies for your account. Contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets the applicable requirement before you rely on it for payment.
Understand what you are paying for
SageMaker AI offers on-demand pricing and Amazon SageMaker Savings Plans, rather than a single SageMaker subscription tier. SageMaker Unified Studio charges for the AWS services you use through it. Studio access itself is free, but underlying compute and storage can generate charges. Pricing varies by AWS Region, resource and configuration; consult the official Amazon SageMaker pricing page before starting a workload.
Free plan and Paid plan are AWS account plans, not SageMaker plans. Eligible new customers receive credits under the Free plan and may qualify to earn additional credits. The Free plan ends after six months or when its credits are exhausted, whichever comes first. SageMaker AI also has capability-specific Free Tier allowances for the first two months. Amazon SageMaker Studio Lab is a separate free offering; signing up for it is not the same as arranging payment for AWS SageMaker usage.
Eligible credits can cover qualifying usage while available. On the Paid plan, applicable usage is billed, generally on a monthly AWS billing cycle. There is no separate on-demand SageMaker checkout where you enter a card for each training job or endpoint.
What to prepare before sign-up
- Your real account details: Use your own identity and accurate contact and billing information. Your AWS account’s country and seller of record affect available payment methods.
- A suitable payment method: AWS’s accepted methods differ by seller of record, and AWS says virtual credit cards are not accepted for AWS services. Ask Coinepay support whether your card meets the requirements that apply to your AWS account; do not treat card issuance as confirmation that AWS will accept it.
- Access to Coinepay: To use Coinepay card services, register and complete identity verification. Once issued, your virtual card’s number, expiry date and CVV are available through Coinepay. Check the app or dashboard for information relevant to your card and available funds.
- A cost plan: Decide which SageMaker resources you need and check their regional pricing. Training instances, hosted endpoints and stored data can incur different charges.
If you use the Coinepay mobile app, it is available for iOS and Android. You can also manage Coinepay services through its self-service dashboard.
Sign up for AWS and open SageMaker
- Start from Amazon SageMaker or AWS. Follow the sign-up route offered for your account. AWS’s newer SageMaker Studio route lets eligible newcomers sign up using Amazon, Apple, GitHub, Google or email credentials and opens a configured Studio environment. That route is still being released to a limited number of customers, so your screens may differ.
- Enter accurate account information. Use your real contact and billing details. In the new experience, AWS assigns a project Region based on your contact country: US East (Ohio), Europe (Stockholm) or Asia Pacific (Sydney). Choosing a different project Region requires activating advanced features. Check that the SageMaker features and instance types you need are available in your project Region.
- Review the plan and payment prompts. Most eligible newcomers using the new Studio route can start without entering a card, but AWS may still ask for payment information. If you are ineligible for the Free Tier, you must provide payment details and enter the Paid plan. Follow the options actually shown for your account rather than assuming card-free access.
- Review costs before launching resources. A configured Studio environment is not a promise that subsequent compute or storage use is free. Check the relevant SageMaker AI or SageMaker Unified Studio pricing information for your planned work.
Where to add a payment method or upgrade
If you use the new AWS experience and need to move to the Paid plan, go to AWS Settings → Billing → Upgrade and follow the payment-details prompts. AWS says the Paid plan cannot later be downgraded to the Free plan. Billing information in this experience is under AWS Settings → Billing.
For an advanced AWS account, manage cards in AWS Billing and Cost Management → Payment preferences. Outstanding invoices appear under Payments. Enter only your genuine billing details and review the payment method’s verification status. Adding a card to AWS billing is not a SageMaker-specific purchase, and entering its details does not guarantee AWS will accept it.
Check eligibility before entering a virtual card. AWS lists accepted methods by seller of record. For example, AWS Inc. and AWS Europe publish different card and direct-debit options, while AWS Brazil and AWS India have their own local payment rules. AWS also states that virtual credit cards are not accepted for AWS services. Because eligibility depends on the applicable AWS requirements and your specific card, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets them before you buy or upgrade. If AWS does not accept it, use an AWS-supported payment method available to you.
Troubleshoot a declined or unverified card
Check the status in AWS billing first. An advanced account may show a card as Unverified in Payment preferences; an attempted payment may show Failed under Payments. Some AWS sign-up users have reported the message “The payment method cannot be verified.” These are AWS account and billing indicators, not SageMaker-specific error messages.
- Insufficient funds or a transaction limit: Check your available funds and any applicable card limits in Coinepay. AWS identifies both insufficient balance and transaction limits as possible reasons for a decline. Bear in mind that ongoing SageMaker usage can produce later AWS charges.
- Billing details do not match: Recheck the card number, expiry date and CVV, then make sure the name and billing address entered with AWS accurately reflect your real billing details. Correct mistakes; do not substitute a different address to try to pass a regional check.
- Authentication or 3-D Secure does not complete: Follow any authentication request presented during payment. If a verification step fails or never appears, ask Coinepay support about the attempted transaction and ask AWS Billing Support what verification AWS requires. Do not assume the card supports a particular authentication flow.
- Merchant or regional payment-method rules: Check which AWS seller of record bills your account and which methods it accepts. AWS’s virtual-credit-card restriction may be decisive, regardless of your balance. A card also cannot resolve restrictions on SageMaker features or instance types in a particular Region.
- Expired or unsupported card: Check the expiry date and AWS’s accepted payment methods for your account. If AWS cannot verify the method, ask AWS Billing Support about the account-side failure and Coinepay support about the card-side attempt.
Keep usage and charges under control
Monitor AWS billing after you start working in SageMaker. When you finish, stop running Studio applications and delete spaces or storage you no longer need. Delete other billable resources, including endpoints, separately; simply leaving Studio or removing a payment method is not a substitute for shutting down resources.
If you decide to close an AWS account, review its account-closing instructions first. Outstanding charges remain payable. In the new experience, AWS says users must close their projects and management account to stop AWS-resource charges. For a charge you believe is incorrect, contact AWS Billing Support rather than assuming previously consumed usage is refundable.

FAQ
Does Amazon SageMaker have a monthly subscription?
No single monthly SageMaker subscription applies. SageMaker AI offers on-demand pricing and SageMaker Savings Plans; AWS bills applicable usage through your account.
Can I pay AWS with a Coinepay virtual card?
Do not assume so. AWS says virtual credit cards are not accepted for AWS services. Contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets the applicable AWS requirements before you rely on it.
Where do I add a card for SageMaker billing?
In the new AWS experience, use AWS Settings → Billing; to upgrade, select Upgrade. In an advanced AWS account, use AWS Billing and Cost Management → Payment preferences.
Why does AWS say my payment method cannot be verified?
Possible causes include incorrect billing details, insufficient funds, a transaction limit, incomplete authentication or an unsupported method. Check AWS billing status, then contact AWS Billing Support and Coinepay support as appropriate.
Will stopping SageMaker Studio stop every charge?
Not necessarily. Stop running applications, delete unwanted spaces and storage, and separately remove other billable resources such as endpoints.
