GCash is one of the most widely used mobile wallets in the Philippines, where payouts are made in Philippine pesos (PHP). If you have family, friends or business partners who use GCash, Coinepay Global Remittance lets you send a cross-border transfer that lands directly in their wallet. This guide explains what you need from the recipient, how the transfer works step by step, and what to do if something goes wrong.
Before you start
To use Coinepay's remittance service you first need to register and complete identity verification (KYC). You can do this in the Coinepay app for iOS or Android, or from the web dashboard. If you do not yet have an account, create one here and finish verification before you try to send.
Every transfer is subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay screens customers and counterparties against sanctions lists and may ask for supporting documents, such as the purpose of the transfer or the source of your funds. The Philippines is a fully supported destination; Coinepay sends to every country and region except those under comprehensive sanctions.
What you need from the recipient
GCash identifies a wallet by the GCash-registered mobile number. Collect these details from your recipient and confirm them carefully:
- The mobile number exactly as it is registered with GCash. An unregistered or inactive number cannot receive money, so ask your recipient to confirm the wallet is active.
- The recipient's full name exactly as it appears on their GCash account. Payout partners match the name against the wallet, and a mismatch can hold or reject the transfer.
- Whether their account is Fully Verified or Basic (more on this below).
GCash verification levels and wallet limits
GCash wallets come in different profiles, and the profile affects how much the recipient can hold and receive. A Basic profile has a much lower wallet maximum and tighter monthly incoming limits, while a Fully Verified adult profile has significantly higher wallet and monthly limits. GCash updated these figures effective 1 October 2026, so ask your recipient to confirm their own limits in the GCash app under Profile > Profile Limits rather than assuming a number.
Why this matters for you as the sender: if your remittance would push the recipient over their wallet maximum or their monthly incoming limit, the payout can be delayed or declined. For larger amounts, it is worth confirming the recipient is Fully Verified and has enough remaining headroom before you send.
GCash is e-money issued by a licensed non-bank e-money issuer in the Philippines; e-money is not a bank deposit. Coinepay's card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions.
Step by step: sending to GCash with Coinepay
- Open Coinepay and choose Global Remittance. From the dashboard or app, start a new transfer.
- Select the Philippines as the destination and choose the mobile wallet payout method, then pick GCash from the available wallets. Coinepay supports bank account deposit, mobile wallets and cash pickup; for GCash you want the mobile wallet route.
- Enter the recipient's details. Type the GCash-registered mobile number and the recipient's full name exactly as registered. Double-check every digit of the number before continuing.
- Enter the amount. You can usually enter either the amount you want to send or the amount you want the recipient to receive in PHP.
- Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the exchange rate, any fees and the final amount your recipient will receive before you confirm. Take a moment to check these figures and the recipient details on the summary screen.
- Confirm the transfer. Once you approve, Coinepay processes the payout to GCash. You may be asked to provide additional information if the transfer is selected for a compliance review.
- Track the status. Every transfer has status tracking in the Coinepay app and dashboard. You can follow it from submitted through to completed.
How the recipient sees the money arrive
When the payout completes, the funds appear in the recipient's GCash wallet balance, and GCash typically notifies them in-app and by SMS. There is nothing for the recipient to claim for a direct wallet payout. If your transfer instead uses a route that requires a reference number to claim, pass the recipient the exact registered name and reference shown in your Coinepay confirmation and let them know promptly, since claim references expire and repeated incorrect attempts can trigger a temporary wait on the GCash side.
Troubleshooting
Wrong mobile number
Mobile wallet payouts are fast, so correct the number before you confirm. If you have already sent to the wrong but active GCash wallet, Coinepay cannot simply pull the money back from someone else's account; contact Coinepay support immediately with your transfer reference so the case can be reviewed. If the number is unregistered or inactive, the payout should not credit and the funds are typically returned, but you should still raise it with support to confirm the next step.
Name does not match the wallet
If the recipient's full name does not match the name registered to the GCash number, the payout partner may hold or reject it. Ask your recipient to read out their name exactly as it shows in their GCash profile, then start a corrected transfer or follow the instructions Coinepay support gives you.
Wallet limit reached
If the recipient has hit their GCash monthly incoming limit or their wallet is already at its maximum, the payout can fail. Ask them to check Profile > Profile Limits, wait for their limit to reset, or (if they are on a Basic profile) upgrade to Fully Verified to raise their limits.
Unverified or Basic wallet
Basic GCash wallets have low limits, and some payout types require a Fully Verified account. If a transfer is declined for this reason, the simplest fix is for the recipient to complete full verification in the GCash app before you resend.
Account on hold or compliance review
GCash may place a wallet on hold, and Coinepay may pause a transfer for sanctions screening or to request documents about the purpose or source of funds. These checks protect everyone involved. Respond to any Coinepay request promptly and accurately, using your real details, to keep the transfer moving. Never split a transfer, use a third party's wallet or do anything to work around these checks.
Transfer not received yet
First confirm the status in the Coinepay app and check that the recipient details were correct. Mobile wallet credits are usually quick, but processing can occasionally take longer. If the status shows completed but the recipient still cannot see the money after a reasonable wait, contact Coinepay support with your transfer reference, and have the recipient check their GCash notifications and transaction history.
Tips for a smooth GCash transfer
- Always copy the number and name from a message rather than typing from memory.
- Ask the recipient to confirm their GCash account is active and verified before you send a large amount.
- Keep your Coinepay app updated and your own KYC details current to avoid delays.
- Save successful recipient details so repeat transfers are faster and less error-prone.

FAQ
What details do I need to send money to a GCash wallet?
You need the recipient's GCash-registered mobile number and their full name exactly as it appears on their GCash account. Confirm the wallet is active and, ideally, Fully Verified before sending.
Will I know the exchange rate and fees before I send?
Yes. Coinepay shows the exchange rate, any fees and the final amount the recipient will receive in Philippine pesos on the summary screen before you confirm the transfer.
What happens if I send to the wrong GCash number?
Mobile wallet payouts are fast, so check the number before confirming. If you already sent to the wrong account, contact Coinepay support right away with your transfer reference so the case can be reviewed; recovery depends on whether the receiving wallet is active.
Why might my transfer be held for review?
Every transfer is subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may pause a transfer and ask for documents such as the purpose or source of funds. Respond promptly with accurate information to continue.
Does the recipient need to do anything to receive the money?
For a direct GCash wallet payout, no action is needed; the funds appear in their balance and GCash usually notifies them. If your transfer uses a claim route with a reference number, give the recipient the exact registered name and reference shown in your Coinepay confirmation.
