Coinepay Global Remittance lets you send cross-border transfers to Egypt from your verified account, choosing the local payout method that suits your recipient. This guide walks through what you need before you start, the payout options available in Egypt, the step-by-step sending flow, and what to do if a transfer is delayed or returned.

Everything is managed from the 24/7 self-service dashboard or the Coinepay mobile app, so you can set up, confirm and track your transfer at any time. The exchange rate and fees for your transfer are always shown clearly before you confirm, so you know exactly what applies to your payment.

Before you start: what the sender needs

To send money to Egypt, make sure you have the following ready:

  • A verified Coinepay account. You must register and complete identity verification (KYC) before using remittance services. If you have not done so yet, you can create your account and finish verification first.
  • The recipient's full legal name exactly as it appears on their bank account, wallet registration or government ID.
  • The payout details for the method you choose (see below).
  • The purpose of the transfer and, if requested, the source of funds. Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations, and Coinepay may ask for supporting documents.

Egypt's local currency is the Egyptian pound (EGP). Your recipient will usually receive funds in EGP, and Coinepay supports multiple currencies on the sending side.

Egypt payout methods and what the recipient needs

Coinepay supports common local payout methods for Egypt. Availability of a specific method can depend on the route, so check which options appear for your transfer in the app.

Bank account deposit

For a bank deposit, you will typically need the recipient's account name and their Egyptian IBAN. An Egyptian IBAN is 29 characters: it starts with EG, followed by two check digits, a four-digit bank code, a four-digit branch code and a 17-digit account number. Because the IBAN already contains the bank and branch identifiers, you do not need separate codes such as IFSC, CLABE or a US routing number for Egypt.

If the payment is routed as an international wire, you may also be asked for the recipient bank's SWIFT/BIC and, where requested, the bank name and address. Some approved Egyptian bank partners can credit inbound remittances through the local Instant Payment Network, but that is a specific service and not a guarantee that every transfer arrives instantly.

Mobile wallet

Egyptian mobile wallets can receive cross-border funds. The Central Bank of Egypt lists wallets such as Vodafone Cash, Orange Cash, Etisalat Cash and bank-branded wallets. For a wallet payout, you generally need the recipient's full name and the mobile number linked to their wallet. The recipient's wallet must be registered with a valid national ID and a mobile number whose details match the account holder. Wallet transaction limits are set by each provider, so ask your recipient to confirm their wallet's applicable limits before you send.

Cash pickup

With cash pickup, the recipient collects the funds at a payout location. They should be prepared to present a valid photo ID and the transfer tracking or control number. Make sure the recipient's name on the transfer matches their ID exactly, or the payout location may refuse to release the funds.

Step-by-step: sending money to Egypt

  1. Sign in and start a transfer. Open the Coinepay app or dashboard and choose to send a new remittance.
  2. Choose Egypt as the destination and select the currency. Pick the payout currency (typically EGP) and the payout method — bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup.
  3. Enter the recipient's details. Add the recipient's full legal name and the payout details for your chosen method: IBAN (and SWIFT/BIC if required) for a bank deposit, the registered mobile number for a wallet, or the name and location details for cash pickup. Enter a payment-purpose category if prompted.
  4. Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the rate and fees for your transfer before you confirm. Check the amount your recipient will receive and confirm the details are correct.
  5. Confirm the transfer. Once you are satisfied, confirm to submit. Your transfer then goes through verification and sanctions screening.
  6. Track the status. Every transfer has status tracking in the app and dashboard. Follow it from submitted through to paid out, and share the tracking or control number with your recipient if they need it for cash pickup.

Recipient-side considerations

Egyptian banks apply customer-identification, due-diligence and transaction-monitoring requirements. This means your recipient may occasionally be asked for information — for example, about the purpose or source of the funds — during a review before the money is released. This is routine and not a sign that anything is wrong. Suspicious-transaction reporting in Egypt is handled by the relevant financial institutions; it does not mean a recipient must personally report every ordinary incoming transfer.

Encourage your recipient to make sure their receiving account or wallet is active and that the registered name matches their ID, so the payout can be credited without extra steps.

Troubleshooting

Wrong recipient details

An incorrect IBAN, SWIFT/BIC, account name, mobile number or payment method can delay a transfer or cause it to fail. Always confirm the exact receiving details with your recipient before you send. If you realise a detail is wrong after submitting, contact Coinepay support as soon as possible.

Compliance review

Transfers may be placed on hold for identity checks, sanctions screening or a provider compliance review. If Coinepay requests documents such as proof of the purpose or source of funds, providing them promptly helps the transfer continue. Coinepay screens all customers and counterparties against sanctions lists and does not serve sanctioned persons or jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions.

Delays

Identity checks, a temporary issue at the receiving bank or pickup provider, or a sending approval step can all slow a transfer down. Use the status tracker to see where your transfer is, and keep an eye on the app for any requests for information.

Returned transfers

If the receiving bank or wallet rejects the payment — for example because the name does not match or the account is closed — the transfer may be returned. Check the status details, correct the recipient information with them, and resend or follow the guidance shown in the app. For anything unclear, reach out through support.

Manage everything from the app

You can start, confirm and track Egypt transfers anytime from the dashboard or the mobile app, available on iOS and Google Play. To learn more about Coinepay services, visit the Coinepay home page. Some services are not available in every jurisdiction, and services related to virtual assets are not available to residents of mainland China.
