Udemy offers two main ways to pay: one-time individual course purchases and recurring subscriptions such as the Starter Plan, Personal Plan, Learn AI with Google, and the business-focused Team Plan. This guide shows how to set up a Coinepay virtual card, complete Udemy checkout, and work through the most common reasons a card is declined. It is an independent how-to; Coinepay is not affiliated with Udemy.

What you need before you start

  • A Coinepay account with identity verification (KYC) completed. You can register here and finish verification before you try to pay.
  • A Coinepay virtual card created in the dashboard or app, with its card number, expiry date and CVV visible, and enough balance to cover the charge plus any applicable taxes.
  • The billing address exactly as it appears on your Coinepay card profile. Udemy checks the cardholder name and postal code, so these must match.
  • A Udemy account. You can sign up in a browser with your name and email, then confirm with the six-digit code Udemy emails you. Google, Facebook or Apple sign-up may also be offered.

You can manage your card and check your balance anytime from the 24/7 Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app for iOS and Google Play. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions, and services are not available in every jurisdiction.

Which Udemy product are you paying for?

Pricing and payment options differ by product, so decide first what you are buying:

  • Individual courses are one-time purchases, not a subscription. Prices and promotions vary.
  • Starter Plan is an ad-supported subscription offered monthly or annually to eligible learners.
  • Personal Plan subscribes you to a selected course catalog, with monthly and annual options.
  • Learn AI with Google and the combined Learn AI with Google + Udemy Personal Plan are separate subscription offerings; the combined plan has monthly and annual options. Learn AI with Google has an explicit country list and currently cannot be purchased in the Udemy mobile app.
  • Udemy Business Team Plan is an annual, per-user subscription; the Enterprise Plan and offerings like AI Fluency and Leadership Academy are sales-priced.

Subscriptions such as Starter Plan and Personal Plan are not available to every learner, and availability depends on your account location. On the Udemy Business pricing page the Team Plan was displayed at $360 per user per year on 14 October 2026, and an indexed course page advertised the Personal Plan "Starting at $13.00 per month" the same day; applicable taxes and your account location affect the payable total. Prices and promotions change often, so always confirm the current figure on Udemy's own pricing or checkout page before you pay.

Step 1: Create and fund your Coinepay virtual card

  1. Log in to the Coinepay dashboard or app and open your cards section.
  2. Create a virtual card. The card number, expiry date and CVV are issued instantly.
  3. Add enough balance to cover the course price or the subscription charge, plus any taxes Udemy adds at checkout.
  4. Note the billing address on your card profile; you will enter it on Udemy.

If you run ad accounts or buy courses for a team, you can issue a dedicated virtual card and set a custom spending limit per card to keep spending organized.

Step 2: Choose your Udemy plan or course

For a subscription, pick a plan from your account's Subscriptions menu or from an eligible course page. For a single course, use Buy Now, or Add to Cart and then Checkout. Browser-only guest checkout is available to some learners and finishes account setup with an email code.

Step 3: Enter your card and complete checkout

  1. At checkout, select card payment. Udemy's consumer course checkout accepts many Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB and Discover credit or debit cards, including many prepaid cards, though availability depends on your account country, location and device.
  2. Enter the card number, expiry date and CVV from your Coinepay card.
  3. Type the cardholder name and billing postal code exactly as they appear on your Coinepay card profile.
  4. If prompted, complete 3-D Secure authentication. Approve the step through the method Coinepay uses so the payment can be authorized.
  5. Review the total, including taxes, and confirm.

Udemy's own help notes that whether a specific payment method works for a given subscription can differ from course checkout, so check the payment options shown on that subscription's checkout screen. Because Coinepay does not control which cards a merchant ultimately accepts, contact Coinepay support if you want to confirm your card details before a large purchase.

Step 4: Manage billing and invoices

For consumer subscriptions, your charges, renewal date, payment method and cancellation controls are on the Subscriptions page, and invoices are in Purchase history. Saved cards for course checkout live under the profile menu's Payment methods. Team Plan administrators manage renewal or cancellation at Manage → Subscription & Billing → Subscription management, and update the card under Manage → Settings → Billing.

Troubleshooting a declined card

Udemy groups checkout messages under headings such as "Try with a different payment method," "Make sure your card can be used," "Issues connecting to payment provider," "Sufficient funds," "Complete required fields," "Complete payment authentication," "Cancelled payments" and "Security reasons." Here is how those map to common fixes.

Likely causeWhat to check
Insufficient fundsConfirm your Coinepay balance covers the price plus taxes. Top up and retry.
Billing address or details mismatchRe-enter the cardholder name, security code, expiry and postal code to match your Coinepay card profile exactly.
3-D Secure not completedFinish the "Complete payment authentication" step. If it times out, start checkout again.
Issuer restrictionSome cards are restricted at the issuer level. Check your Coinepay app for any card controls, or contact support.
VPN-related authorization problemUdemy lists VPN use as a cause of authorization failures. Use your normal, real connection and real billing details.
Region checkA plan may not be offered for your account location. Confirm the product is available to you.

A declined attempt can leave a temporary authorization hold that usually clears on its own. Do not retry repeatedly; fix the underlying cause first. Always use your real identity and real billing address, and do not attempt to bypass Udemy's region or payment checks. If the card still will not go through after these checks, reach Coinepay via support or Telegram, and contact Udemy support for merchant-side issues.

Refunds and cancellation to know before you pay

A Udemy.com subscription can be cancelled anytime, and access normally continues to the end of the displayed billing period; a promotional free trial can be cancelled before its first charge. Subscription payments generally receive no refund or partial refund except where law requires one. Udemy's listed examples of statutory subscription-refund periods include 14 days in the UK and Germany and 7 days in Australia and South Africa, counted from initial checkout. Eligible individual courses have a 30-day refund window, subject to policy restrictions. Team Plan renews automatically unless an administrator cancels, and its purchases are described as final and non-refundable apart from possible tax refunds. If you subscribed through Apple or Google Play, those stores handle cancellation, payment changes and refunds.

Udemy announced a Help Center migration on 12 October 2026, so some support pages and exact wording may have changed. Verify current prices, availability and policies on Udemy's official site before you buy.

Once your Coinepay card is verified and funded, paying for Udemy is just a matter of entering the card details, matching your billing address and completing authentication. Keep an eye on your balance and renewal dates in the Coinepay app so recurring charges go through smoothly.

FAQ

Can I use a Coinepay virtual card to pay for Udemy?

Udemy's consumer course checkout accepts many Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB and Discover cards, including many prepaid cards, but acceptance depends on your account country, location and device. Make sure your Coinepay card is funded and your billing details match, and contact Coinepay support if you want to confirm your card details before a large purchase.

Does Udemy charge a subscription or a one-time fee?

Both. Individual courses are one-time purchases, while the Starter Plan, Personal Plan, Learn AI with Google and the Team Plan are subscriptions. Prices vary by account location and promotions, so check Udemy's official pricing or checkout page for the current amount.

Why was my card declined at Udemy checkout?

Common causes are insufficient balance, a cardholder name or postal code that does not match your card profile, incomplete 3-D Secure authentication, issuer restrictions, VPN-related authorization problems, or a plan not offered in your region. Fix the cause and retry once; repeated attempts can leave temporary holds.

Can I get a refund on a Udemy subscription paid with my card?

Subscription payments generally receive no refund or partial refund except where law requires one; examples Udemy lists include 14 days in the UK and Germany and 7 days in Australia and South Africa. Eligible individual courses have a 30-day refund window subject to policy. Refunds go back to the original card, so keep your Coinepay card active.

Can I pay for a Udemy Team Plan with a virtual card?

The Team Plan requires online card payment (not cheque or purchase order) and its renewal FAQ lists Visa, Mastercard and American Express credit or debit cards. Administrators update the card under Manage, Settings, Billing. Ensure the card is funded for the annual per-user charge plus taxes.
