To pay for Notion AI, first choose the right Notion workspace plan. Notion AI is included with Business and Enterprise; the complimentary AI responses on Free and Plus are limited. This guide explains how to upgrade a workspace on the web with a Coinepay virtual card, check the bill before confirming, and troubleshoot a declined payment.
What you need before checkout
- A Notion account and the right workspace. You can sign up with a work email or continue with Google, Microsoft, or ChatGPT. Creating an account does not upgrade a workspace. If you belong to several workspaces, select the one you intend to pay for.
- Access to workspace billing. A workspace owner can view its plan, billing interval, renewal date, and billing information under Settings → Billing. If you cannot change the plan, ask the workspace owner to handle the upgrade.
- A Coinepay virtual card. Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Coinepay provides a virtual card number, expiry date, and CVV, which you can retrieve in its app or 24/7 self-service dashboard.
- Accurate payment details. Use your real identity and billing details. Check the card details and available funds in Coinepay before starting, and review Notion’s actual checkout for the amount due, currency, taxes, and billing interval.
Notion says it accepts major credit- and debit-card brands, but that does not establish whether a particular virtual card will be accepted. If Notion’s checkout specifies a card-type or country-of-issue requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets it before you buy.
Choose the Notion plan that includes AI
Notion’s workspace plans are Free, Plus, Business, and Enterprise, although the options shown can vary by workspace. Business and Enterprise include Notion AI. Free and Plus offer limited complimentary AI responses rather than an ongoing subscription to the full set of included AI features. If you are upgrading specifically for AI, do not assume that paying for Plus will provide the Business-level AI offering.
At the time of writing (October 2026), Notion’s U.S. pricing page displayed Business at $20 per member per month when billed yearly, with the year paid upfront. Enterprise had custom pricing. This is not a month-to-month checkout quote: confirm the current price, billing interval, currency, and any applicable taxes on Notion’s official pricing page and in your workspace’s order summary. Notion bills plans per member, per workspace, so the total may differ from a single-member headline rate.
If you need Custom Agents, check their costs separately. They use a recurring Notion credits add-on for Business and Enterprise rather than simply drawing on every included AI feature. At the time of writing (October 2026), Notion listed US$10 per 1,000 monthly credits, with unused monthly credits not rolling over. Review the current credit terms on Notion’s official product page before adding them.
How to upgrade and pay on the web
- Sign in or create your Notion account. On Notion’s sign-up page, enter your work email or choose one of its offered sign-in options. Open the workspace you want to upgrade.
- Open the plan choices. In the web or desktop app, go to Settings → Upgrade plan or Settings → Explore plans, then choose Upgrade for the available plan you want. Select Business if its included AI features meet your needs; contact Notion about Enterprise if you need an Enterprise quote.
- Review the order summary. Check the number of members, billing interval, amount due, and estimated next bill. Because plans are billed per member per workspace, verify that you have selected the intended workspace and understand the total before proceeding.
- Enter your Coinepay card details. Retrieve the card number, expiry date, and CVV from Coinepay and enter them in Notion’s payment form where a card-payment option is offered. Enter your real billing information accurately. Notion lists card payments, Apple Pay, and Stripe Link with a saved card for web payments; use the option actually presented at your checkout.
- Complete any payment verification and confirm. If your checkout requests an authentication step, follow its on-screen instructions. Check the final details, then select Upgrade now. Do not treat an unfinished authentication prompt or a pending screen as confirmation of payment.
- Verify the result. Return to Settings → Billing to review the workspace plan and billing information. If the upgrade is not reflected there, check for a Notion payment email and resolve the payment status before attempting repeated purchases.
The web flow is the clearest route for entering a virtual card. Mobile purchase and management flows may differ, so use the checkout shown on your device rather than assuming the web steps apply inside an app.
What to do if Notion declines the card
A decline does not identify a single cause. Read the message shown at checkout and any email from Notion, then check the relevant item below. Do not repeatedly submit unchanged details.
Insufficient funds or an unexpected total
Compare the available funds shown in Coinepay with Notion’s complete checkout amount, not just the displayed per-member rate. A yearly plan is paid upfront for the year; additional members, taxes, or other selections can affect the bill. If the available funds are insufficient, address that in Coinepay and try again after confirming the final amount. For questions about your card’s funding options or limits, check the Coinepay app or contact support.
Card details or billing address mismatch
Recheck the card number, expiry date, and CVV against the details shown in Coinepay. An expired card or incorrect entry can prevent payment. Make sure the billing details entered at Notion are your real, accurate details and match the information associated with your payment method where required. Correct mistakes rather than substituting someone else’s address or identity.
3-D Secure or another authentication step
If checkout asks you to authenticate the payment, complete the prompt rather than closing it or starting another attempt immediately. If the prompt fails, expires, or never appears, check the status in Coinepay and contact Coinepay support with the time and amount of the attempt. You can also ask Notion support what its checkout recorded. Whether a particular transaction can complete authentication depends on the checkout and card involved; do not assume a retry will resolve it.
Merchant region or card-eligibility checks
Notion may apply payment and location requirements that a card cannot override. Notion states that it has denied access to people located in Russia since September 9, 2024. It also says workspaces with current or historical Russia-associated billing information are subject to termination; changing that information does not remove the restriction. If checkout indicates a card-type, issuing-country, or location issue, follow Notion’s stated requirements and ask Coinepay support to confirm any card eligibility requirement before buying. Do not use an inaccurate billing address or other means to bypass a restriction.
For a failed plan payment, Notion says it sends an email and may retry payment up to eight times over the following month. Unresolved failure can eventually limit access and lead to a downgrade to Free. If you are already subscribed, a workspace owner can check Settings → Billing and change the stored payment method through Edit method → Update. If the reason for failure remains unclear, contact Notion about the workspace’s invoice and Coinepay about the card attempt.
Manage renewal, cancellation, and refunds
Paid Notion plans renew automatically until canceled. To downgrade on desktop, go to Settings → Billing → Change plan. Notion says paid features remain available until the end of the current billing period, when the downgrade takes effect. If you enter a Business trial with payment details, it automatically continues as a paid Business subscription at trial end unless you cancel; check the trial terms and renewal date in your workspace.
If you need a refund, contact Notion promptly from the workspace owner’s or billing contact’s email. Notion says it can process subscription refunds in most cases when contacted within three days of a monthly invoice date or 30 days of an annual invoice date. These are request windows, not a promise that every purchase qualifies. For a payment problem specific to the Coinepay card, use Coinepay support; for the subscription or invoice, contact Notion.
