MEGA offers cloud storage through a Free account and paid plans with different storage and transfer allowances. If card payment is available at your MEGA web checkout, you can enter the details of a Coinepay virtual card to attempt a subscription purchase. This guide covers what to prepare, how to sign up and pay, and what to check if the payment is declined. MEGA decides whether to accept each payment.

Before you start

  • A MEGA account: You can create a Free account without a card. Use an email address you can access, agree to MEGA’s terms during sign-up, and confirm the email address when prompted.
  • A Coinepay account and virtual card: Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Coinepay provides a virtual card number, expiry date and CVV after issuance. You can manage the card through the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app.
  • Enough available funds: Check the amount shown at MEGA checkout and make sure sufficient funds are available for the charge. Allow for any applicable taxes or currency conversion shown before you confirm; check the Coinepay app or contact support if you need details about card funding or charges.
  • Your real billing information: Have your correct name and billing address ready. Enter details that match your payment account records, and choose your actual country or region. Do not use a different address or region to try to pass a payment check.

MEGA’s web pricing has listed card payments, although the methods presented can vary by location and checkout. A listed payment method is not a promise that a particular virtual card will be accepted. For the clearest card-payment path, follow MEGA’s browser checkout rather than assuming an in-app purchase will use the same billing system.

Choose the right MEGA plan

Check MEGA’s official pricing page for current availability, allowances, billing periods and the total you will pay. The plans described in MEGA’s 2026 pricing information include:

PlanWhat to check before buying
Free20 GB storage, with limited transfer; no payment card required.
Essential200 GB storage; check the annual billing commitment at checkout.
Pro Lite750 GB storage; check the annual billing commitment at checkout.
Pro I, Pro II and Pro III3 TB, 10 TB and 20 TB storage respectively; compare the available monthly and yearly options.
Pro FlexiA usage-based option starting with 3 TB of storage and transfer; review how extra usage is billed.
BusinessAn option for at least three users; review its base allowance and charges for additional usage.

Plan options and prices can change or differ by region. In particular, a monthly equivalent displayed beside a yearly plan is not necessarily a month-to-month payment. Read the billing period and final checkout total before authorizing a charge. A MEGA purchase made through an app store may have different prices and will be managed through that store rather than MEGA’s web card settings.

How to subscribe through MEGA’s web checkout

  1. Create or open your MEGA account. Visit MEGA’s official site in your browser. If you are new, create a Free account, accept its terms and confirm your email address. Sign in before selecting a paid plan so you know which account will receive the upgrade.
  2. Open MEGA’s pricing page. Compare the storage and transfer allowances. Choose the plan and, where offered, the monthly or yearly billing period that fits your needs. Select its Buy action.
  3. Review the checkout. Follow the on-screen prompts and select a card payment option if one is offered in your location. Check the plan, billing period, amount, currency and any displayed tax. MEGA may ask for consent to retain a payment method for later purchases; read that choice before proceeding.
  4. Enter your Coinepay card details. Retrieve the virtual card number, expiry date and CVV from your Coinepay dashboard or app. Type them into MEGA’s card form, along with your real name and billing details wherever requested. Check for typing mistakes before submitting.
  5. Complete any required verification. If your payment flow requests an authentication step, follow the instructions presented by the payment provider. Keep the checkout open until it shows a result; do not repeatedly press the payment button while a transaction is processing.
  6. Confirm the outcome. Look for MEGA’s purchase confirmation and verify the plan in your account. Save the receipt or confirmation for your records. If you see a card charge but the account does not upgrade, check the transaction status and contact MEGA about the order before attempting another purchase.

Checkout screens can differ by region and payment provider. If your checkout does not offer card payment, a Coinepay virtual card cannot be entered through that flow. Ask MEGA what purchase options are available for your account rather than changing your stated location.

What to do if your MEGA card payment is declined

A decline does not, by itself, identify the cause. One reported MEGA payment error reads “Something went wrong - Please verify your payment details and try again.” Treat that message as a prompt to check the transaction, not as proof that your card number is wrong.

  • Insufficient available funds: Compare your available funds with the full amount shown at checkout, including any applicable tax or currency conversion. If the card cannot cover the charge, fund it through the options available in Coinepay and try again after the funds are available. Check the app or ask Coinepay support if you cannot determine why the available amount differs from what you expect.
  • Billing details do not match: Recheck the card number, expiry and CVV, then verify your name and billing address. Use your actual details as recorded for the payment method. A mismatch can prevent payment; entering an invented address or another country is not a fix.
  • Authentication was not completed: If checkout asks for 3-D Secure or another cardholder verification step, complete it before it expires. If the prompt fails to appear or cannot be completed, check the transaction information available in Coinepay and contact support. Do not assume every MEGA payment will use the same authentication flow.
  • Merchant or regional checks: MEGA’s available payment methods can depend on location, and its payment provider may decline a transaction after checking card or account details. Make sure your account region and billing information are accurate. If you are told that a card type, card origin or local purchase option is restricted, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets the stated requirement before you buy. MEGA support can clarify restrictions applied by its checkout.
  • Repeated attempts: Pause after a decline and investigate instead of submitting the same payment many times. Check whether a charge is pending before retrying. If MEGA reports a purchase block, follow its instructions or contact MEGA support; do not assume a particular waiting period applies to your account.

If the card details have changed since an earlier MEGA subscription payment, sign in to MEGA in a browser and look under Account → Plan for Edit card. Update the details there if that option is available. For a persistent decline, give MEGA the error wording and approximate attempt time, and give Coinepay support the transaction details shown in your account. Never send your full CVV in a support message.

Manage renewals and cancellation

MEGA paid subscriptions generally renew on the selected monthly or yearly schedule unless cancelled before renewal. For a web-billed subscription, sign in to MEGA and review Account → Plan for plan and billing controls. If you bought through an app store, manage cancellation through that store instead; changing a card in MEGA’s web account may not change an app-store purchase.

Cancel renewal early enough to avoid an unwanted next charge and keep MEGA’s confirmation. Cancelling renewal does not necessarily end the paid plan immediately. Before a paid plan ends, compare your stored data with the Free tier’s allowance: access may be restricted if your usage exceeds Free limits. If a charge looks mistaken or you need a refund, contact MEGA promptly and check its current terms for the rules that apply to your purchase and residence. For card-related questions, use Coinepay support; for plan access, checkout availability or a MEGA receipt, contact MEGA.

FAQ

Do I need a card to create a MEGA account?

No. You can create and confirm a MEGA Free account without entering a card. A paid plan requires completing an available checkout method.

Can I pay for MEGA Essential monthly?

Essential was listed as an annual-billing plan in MEGA’s 2026 web pricing information. Check the current official pricing page and checkout before buying.

Why did MEGA reject my Coinepay virtual card?

Possible causes include insufficient available funds, incorrect billing details, an incomplete authentication step or a merchant payment check. Review the error and transaction status before retrying.

Where can I change the card for a MEGA web subscription?

Sign in to MEGA in a browser and check Account → Plan for Edit card. An app-store-billed subscription is managed through the relevant store.
