Google Voice gives you a phone number for calls, texts and voicemail that works across your devices. If you want to add a Coinepay virtual card as the payment method for a paid Google Voice plan, this guide walks through what you need, how checkout works, an important restriction to check before you buy, and what to do if a charge is declined.

Create and manage your Coinepay card from the Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app for iOS and Android. You must register and complete identity verification (KYC) before your card can be used.

Before you start: an important card-type restriction

Google documents its accepted payment methods for Workspace and Google Voice. For subscriptions bought through the Admin console (team add-ons), Google explicitly states that prepaid credit/debit cards and virtual credit cards are not accepted, along with customer-initiated bank transfers, Western Union, MoneyGram, HSA cards and transit cards. This is Google's policy, not a Coinepay limitation.

Because of this, do not assume any card will work for an Admin-console Voice add-on. For the newer standalone Starter and Standard plans billed to a personal Gmail account, Google lists major cards (Visa, Mastercard and American Express) in the countries where those plans are offered, but it still applies the same screening at checkout. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets Google's requirement before you buy. Never enter details that are not your own, and always use your real identity and billing address.

What you need

  • A verified Coinepay account with an active virtual card (card number, expiry date and CVV are shown in the app once issued).
  • Your real billing address and name, matching the details on your Coinepay profile.
  • A Google account. Standalone individual plans require a personal @gmail.com account; team add-ons require an administrator with billing-management permission.
  • Eligibility in a supported region. Free and paid standalone local numbers are U.S.-only, while Google-provided team calling plans are available in 14 countries: the U.S., Canada, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the U.K.

Google Voice plans and pricing

Google's free tier is called Basic on the pricing page (and "Google Voice (no charge)" in help articles). Paid options include Google Voice Starter standalone and Google Voice Standard standalone, each for one user on a personal Gmail account. Team add-ons are named Starter, Standard and Premier, billed per user per month in addition to a separately billed Workspace plan.

At the time of writing (October 2026), Google advertised Standard standalone at $10/month for the first six months and $20/month thereafter, billed automatically each month and cancelable at any time; team add-ons were shown at $10, $20 and $30 USD per user per month. Prices and promotions change and vary by region, so always confirm current figures on Google's official Google Voice pricing page before you subscribe. Google bills add-on prices in USD even in Canada, the U.K. and supported European markets, so the local amount can vary with the exchange rate.

How to subscribe and pay (standalone individual plan)

  1. Open the Coinepay app, make sure your virtual card is active, and note the card number, expiry and CVV. Confirm your billing address on file.
  2. In a web browser, go to Google Voice and sign in with your personal @gmail.com account. Standalone plans are bought on the web, not as an in-app mobile purchase.
  3. Choose the Starter or Standard standalone plan and start checkout.
  4. Select a payments profile type — Individual or Organization — and set up billing. Pick this carefully, as it generally cannot be changed later.
  5. Enter your Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV, then the name and billing address exactly as they appear on your Coinepay account.
  6. If prompted, complete any 3-D Secure or identity check. Approve the request through your Coinepay app if required.
  7. Review the order and confirm. Voice uses monthly flexible billing: Google charges your primary method at the beginning of the following month for the prior month's usage, with prorating where applicable.

How an administrator adds the team add-on

  1. Sign in to the Admin console with an account that has billing-management permission.
  2. Go to Billing → Buy or upgrade → Google Voice → Get Started.
  3. Follow the on-screen order instructions, choosing Starter (up to 10 users), Standard or Premier.
  4. Complete payment setup. Remember that Google does not accept virtual or prepaid cards for Admin-console subscriptions — check your options before committing.

Managing billing and payment methods

In the Admin console, open Billing → Payment accounts for invoices and transactions, and use View payment methods to change the primary or backup card. Note that extra charges such as paid calling destinations, additional numbers, taxes and location-dependent regulatory fees can raise the invoice above the base subscription price.

Free-tier calling credit is separate. At voice.google.com go to Settings → Payments → Add credit → select amount → select payment method → Buy. Starter and Standard standalone subscribers cannot buy calling credit this way because paid calls are added to the monthly invoice instead.

Troubleshooting a declined card

Google documents several checkout messages, including "Your transaction cannot be completed," "Please use another form of payment," "Your payment didn't go through," "Your payment was declined due to an issue with your account," "Unable to process payment: low card balance," and an ineligible or grayed-out card. Work through these common causes:

Card type not accepted

If the card is grayed out or rejected as ineligible, Google may be blocking the card type — most notably virtual or prepaid cards for Admin-console subscriptions. Check Google's accepted-payment-methods help page and contact Coinepay support to confirm your card's eligibility for the plan you want.

Insufficient balance

"Unable to process payment: low card balance" points to not enough available funds. Top up in the Coinepay app and retry. Remember Google may try to authorize a small amount or the full charge, and additional taxes and fees can apply.

Billing address mismatch

A mismatched billing address is a frequent decline reason. Make sure the name, address and postal code at Google checkout match the details registered on your Coinepay card exactly.

3-D Secure or verification request

Google may trigger an identity or suspicious-transaction check. Complete any 3-D Secure prompt and approve the transaction in your Coinepay app, then retry.

Issuer restrictions

Declines can also come from issuer restrictions on online, recurring or international charges, or from expired/incorrect card details. Google notes the exact issuer decline reason may require asking the issuer. Review your card status in the Coinepay app, and reach out to Coinepay support if charges keep failing.

Canceling a paid plan

To stop paid billing, an administrator uses Admin console → Billing → Subscriptions → Google Voice → More → Cancel Subscription and completes the confirmation. Cancellation stops further Voice billing, but charges through the cancellation date are prorated. After a standalone cancellation, the account moves to free Voice with existing data retained, you have 90 days to reclaim the unassigned number, and Google's eligibility help notes a 30-day wait before repurchasing. An automatic refund of already-paid subscription fees is not something you should assume; check Google's current refund terms.

A quick note on your Coinepay card

Coinepay virtual cards are issued with an instant card number, expiry and CVV, and are managed from the 24/7 dashboard and mobile app. They are commonly used for advertising, AI subscriptions, software and online shopping. If you run ad accounts, you can also issue a dedicated card per ad account with its own spending limit. Whether a specific merchant like Google accepts a given card depends on that merchant's rules — so confirm eligibility with Coinepay support before you subscribe. Ready to get a card? FAQ

Can I pay for Google Voice with a Coinepay virtual card?

It depends on the plan. Google explicitly does not accept virtual or prepaid cards for subscriptions bought through the Admin console (team add-ons). For standalone Gmail-account plans it lists major cards but still screens every payment. Confirm your card's eligibility with Coinepay support before you buy, and never assume acceptance.

How much does Google Voice cost?

Google's free tier is Basic. At the time of writing (October 2026) Standard standalone was advertised at $10/month for the first six months then $20/month, and team add-ons Starter, Standard and Premier were $10, $20 and $30 USD per user per month. Prices vary by region and change often, so check Google's official pricing page.

Why was my card declined at Google Voice checkout?

Common causes include an unaccepted card type, insufficient balance ("low card balance"), a billing address mismatch, a 3-D Secure or identity check, expired or incorrect details, and issuer restrictions on online or recurring charges. Verify your details, top up if needed, and contact Coinepay support if it keeps failing.

Is Google Voice available in my country?

Free and paid standalone local numbers are U.S.-only. Google-provided team calling plans are available in 14 countries including the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and several European markets. Some other markets use Carrier Link or SIP Link, which require a carrier or partner rather than direct checkout.

How do I cancel a paid Google Voice plan?

An administrator goes to Admin console → Billing → Subscriptions → Google Voice → More → Cancel Subscription and confirms. Billing stops, though charges through the cancellation date are prorated. Standalone accounts move to free Voice and keep 90 days to reclaim the number.
