To subscribe to the Financial Times (FT) with a Coinepay virtual card, start with FT’s subscription options and choose a checkout that lets you enter card details. This guide covers what to prepare, how to complete a card payment, and what to check if it is declined. The payment options and terms shown in your FT account at checkout take precedence over any general guidance here.

Choose the FT subscription and checkout route

FT offers several products, so confirm which one you are buying before entering payment details. The FT app lists Standard Digital, Premium Digital and FT Edit. A separate FT Digital Edition subscription is listed in its own app. Do not assume that buying one gives you access to another: read the access description on the offer you select.

For a direct virtual-card payment, use an FT checkout that offers a card-entry option. Begin on the Financial Times official site, select the subscription you want, and review the payment choices presented for your location and offer. The exact web-checkout screens can change, so follow the labels displayed there rather than looking for a particular button name.

The FT app also offers in-app purchases, but an Apple-billed subscription follows the App Store’s purchase flow rather than an FT card-entry checkout. FT Edit’s app listing says its first 30 days do not require card details and that an Apple-billed purchase charges the App Store account when confirmed. If you intend to pay FT directly with your Coinepay card, check who will bill you before accepting an app offer.

Prices and offers vary by region and purchase route. Check the Financial Times official pricing page and the final checkout summary for the amount, billing frequency, any introductory period and applicable taxes. Do not treat an App Store listing as the price you will pay on FT’s website.

What you need before paying

  • A Coinepay account ready for card use. Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC) before using its card services. You can manage your card in the Coinepay self-service dashboard or mobile app.
  • Your virtual-card details. Coinepay issues a card number, expiry date and CVV. Have them available in the dashboard or app when you reach checkout.
  • Enough available funds. Check the amount FT displays for the first payment, including any taxes shown, against the funds available to your card. If a promotion applies, also note the amount stated for subsequent billing.
  • Your real account and billing information. Use your own identity and accurate billing details. Check that the information you submit matches the details associated with your payment method where applicable.
  • A suitable FT offer. Confirm that the subscription and payment option are available to you in your actual location. Availability in another country’s app listing does not establish availability where you live.

If FT displays a requirement for particular card types or issuing locations, pause before paying. Contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets the stated requirement; do not assume it does. A merchant decides whether to accept a payment.

How to subscribe and pay by card

  1. Open the Financial Times official site. Find its subscription offers and select the product you want. Compare Standard Digital, Premium Digital or any other offer shown to you by the access described on that page.
  2. Review the offer. Check the billing interval, price, introductory terms if any, and what FT says will happen when the initial period ends. Prices can differ between FT’s website and app-based purchases.
  3. Create or sign in to your FT account. Use an email address you can access and complete any account steps requested. If you already subscribe, sign in first so you can check your existing access rather than accidentally starting a second purchase.
  4. Select card payment if it is offered. At checkout, confirm that you are paying FT directly and can enter card details. If you are taken to an App Store confirmation instead, that purchase is billed through Apple.
  5. Enter the Coinepay card details. Copy the card number, expiry date and CVV from your Coinepay dashboard or app. Enter your genuine billing information in the fields FT requests; check it carefully before continuing.
  6. Complete any security prompt. If the checkout presents a bank or card-verification step, follow the on-screen instructions. Do not close the checkout while an authentication request is pending.
  7. Confirm and verify the result. Submit payment once, wait for FT’s confirmation, and check the subscription status in your FT account. Keep the confirmation email or receipt for your records.

A payment screen that appears to stall is not proof that the charge failed. Before trying again, check your FT account, email and Coinepay transaction activity. If a charge appears without the expected FT access, give FT support the transaction details so it can investigate the subscription; contact Coinepay support for help with the card transaction.

If FT declines the virtual card

FT’s payment team has identified insufficient funds, expired cards and processing errors among reasons payments fail. A decline message alone may not tell you which occurred. Work through these checks rather than repeatedly submitting the same details:

  • Insufficient available funds: Compare the checkout total with the amount available for your card in Coinepay. Include taxes or a different first-payment amount if FT shows them. Add funds using the options available in your Coinepay account, then retry only after the balance reflects them.
  • Billing-address mismatch: Check the name, address and other billing fields you entered for mistakes. Use your real details, not an address from another country to match an offer. If you are unsure which billing information applies to your card, ask Coinepay support.
  • 3-D Secure or another security check: If an authentication prompt appears, complete it before returning to FT. If it times out or fails to open, restart checkout and watch for the prompt. Ask Coinepay support for help if card authentication continues to fail.
  • Merchant region checks: Recheck that you selected an FT offer intended for your actual location and supplied accurate country and billing information. If FT says your card or location is not eligible, ask FT which requirement applies; contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets any stated card requirement. Do not attempt to bypass the check.
  • Card details or processing error: Re-enter the number, expiry date and CVV directly from the Coinepay app or dashboard. If the details are correct and a temporary processing error persists, wait before trying again and contact the appropriate support team.

If FT shows a general message such as “your payment could not be processed,” do not assume it identifies the cause. Check whether a transaction appeared before retrying, then provide the time, amount and message to support. Avoid sending your full card number or CVV in an email or support message.

Manage payments after subscribing

For a subscription billed directly by FT, sign in to your FT account and look for its account-management area when you need to update payment information. FT has described directing subscribers with payment problems there, but the current menu labels may differ. If a renewal fails, check any notice from FT and follow the instructions in your account; do not assume a payment will be retried automatically.

For an Apple-billed purchase, review the subscription through your Apple account rather than assuming an FT website payment update will change its billing method. Before canceling or switching products, read the current terms in the account that bills you, including when access ends and whether a refund is available. Coinepay provides the payment card; FT or the app-store billing provider manages the subscription itself.

You can access Coinepay through its self-service dashboard, iOS app or Android app. If the card or transaction still needs investigation after you have checked FT’s account status, contact Coinepay support with the relevant transaction details.

FAQ

Can I enter my Coinepay card for an FT subscription?

Choose an FT checkout that offers card entry, then enter your Coinepay card details and real billing information. Payment acceptance depends on FT’s checkout and card checks.

Are Standard Digital and Premium Digital the same as FT Edit?

No. FT lists Standard Digital, Premium Digital and FT Edit as separate paid tiers. Check the access description for the offer you select.

Why was my FT card payment declined?

Check available funds, card details, billing information, any authentication prompt and FT’s regional or card requirements. Check for a transaction before retrying.

Where do I update my payment details after subscribing?

For direct FT billing, look in your FT account-management area. For an Apple-billed purchase, manage billing through your Apple account.
