EA Play gives you access to a library of EA games, member discounts and trial playtime, and you can pay for it with a virtual card instead of a physical one. This guide walks through what you need, how to set up a Coinepay virtual card, how EA's checkout actually works, and what to do when a payment is declined.

What you need before you start

  • An EA Account, signed in on the EA app or at EA.com.
  • A Coinepay virtual card with its card number, expiry date and CVV. If you don't have one yet, register with Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC) first.
  • Enough available balance on the card to cover the full membership charge, since EA memberships are billed in one amount and cannot be split across payment methods.
  • Your real billing details, matching the information on your Coinepay account. EA checks the billing address against what your card issuer has on file.

You can create and manage your card from the Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app (iOS and Google Play). The card number, expiry and CVV appear instantly once the card is issued.

EA Play plans and prices

EA offers two paid tiers, EA Play and EA Play Pro, each with a monthly or annual billing option. Prices vary by region and change over time, so always confirm the figure on EA's official EA Play page for your country before you pay. At the time of writing (October 2026), examples of EA's displayed regional pricing were:

RegionEA PlayEA Play Pro
United StatesUSD 5.99/mo or 39.99/yrUSD 16.99/mo or 119.99/yr
United KingdomGBP 5.99/mo or 35.99/yrGBP 16.99/mo or 109.99/yr
Germany / FranceEUR 5.99/mo or 39.99/yrEUR 16.99/mo or 119.99/yr
CanadaCAD 7.99/mo or 54.99/yrCAD 22.99/mo or 149.99/yr
AustraliaAUD 8.95/mo or 59.95/yrAUD 24.95/mo or 159.95/yr

These are EA's displayed prices, not a tax-inclusive total or a confirmed checkout quote for every platform. EA directs console customers to their platform (PlayStation or Xbox) for price and billing questions. EA Play Pro is offered through the EA app, not through Steam or Epic.

Step-by-step: subscribe in the EA app

  1. Create your Coinepay virtual card in the app or dashboard and confirm it has enough balance for the plan you want.
  2. Open the EA app and sign in to your EA Account.
  3. Select Join EA Play.
  4. Choose your tier (EA Play or EA Play Pro) and your billing option (monthly or annual).
  5. Enter your payment details. Choose credit/debit card and type your Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV, then enter the billing address that matches your card record.
  6. Review the order summary, agree to automatic renewal, and select Start Membership.

If you start from EA.com instead, select Join Now and pick a platform. Selecting Steam or Epic redirects checkout to that store and bills you there; selecting the EA app continues through EA's own tier, plan and payment steps. Steam- and Epic-billed memberships won't appear in your EA Account membership settings.

Payment methods EA accepts

EA lists credit/debit card, PayPal and, where available, EA Wallet as membership payment options. Available methods depend on your region and the checkout platform. EA's general purchase-method list names card types including American Express, Discover, JCB, Mastercard, UnionPay, Visa/Visa Debit and Visa Electron, among others. It is not confirmed that every listed card type works for an EA Play subscription in every market, so if you are unsure whether your Coinepay card meets EA's requirements, contact Coinepay support to confirm before you buy.

Where to change or check your payment method

For an EA-billed membership, your payment method and next billing date live under EA Account → Subscriptions and Memberships → EA Play → Billing information. Use the arrow beside Payment method to update it to your Coinepay card. You can also add or edit saved cards under EA Account → Payment and Wallet → Payment Methods. If you pay with EA Wallet, note that it can only be used when it covers the full membership cost.

Troubleshooting a declined card

EA shows specific error codes at checkout. Not all of them mean your bank declined the card, so match the message to the cause before retrying.

Insufficient funds

Code 10055 points to insufficient funds on a prepaid card. Top up your Coinepay card so the available balance covers the full charge, including any applicable tax, then try again. Remember memberships cannot be paid part by card and part by another method.

Billing address or card detail mismatch

Codes 2001–2006, 10023 or NU2021 indicate a billing-address mismatch, and 10024 means mismatched card details. Open your Coinepay app, check the exact billing address, card number, expiry and CVV on file, and re-enter them in EA precisely as they appear. A single wrong digit or an outdated address is enough to stop the charge.

Unvalidated or expired card

Codes 1001–1004 mean the payment could not be validated, and 10025 means the card is expired. Confirm your card is active and in date in the Coinepay dashboard, then retry.

Issuer or bank decline

Codes 10046, 10049 or NU2099 report an issuer/bank decline. Check for any transaction notification or control in your Coinepay app, make sure the card is enabled for online purchases, and reach out to Coinepay support if the decline repeats.

3-D Secure

Some purchases trigger a 3-D Secure verification step. Approve the prompt in your Coinepay app promptly; if it times out, the payment may fail and need to be restarted.

Account or location mismatch

Codes 5601 or 10044 indicate an account/location mismatch. EA also notes that some games may be unavailable in certain countries, including Belarus, Russia, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Crimea and the listed Ukrainian regions. Use your real location and account details; do not try to disguise your region. If you believe EA Play should be available where you are, contact EA support.

Always use your genuine identity, billing address and location. Entering false details to bypass EA's checks can cause declines and can breach EA's terms.

Cancellation and refunds

To cancel an EA-billed membership, go to EA Account → Subscriptions and Memberships → Your membership → Cancel membership and confirm. Cancelling stops the next renewal but keeps your benefits until the paid period ends. Steam, Epic, PlayStation and Xbox subscribers cancel through their respective platform. Memberships are generally non-refundable; EA notes an exception for unused EA Play time when upgrading to EA Play Pro through the EA app, and in some countries a statutory 14-day withdrawal right may apply if the service hasn't been accessed. In Brazil, EA-app memberships do not renew automatically and are bought as stackable periods.

Managing your card going forward

Because EA Play renews automatically in most regions, keep your Coinepay card funded ahead of each billing date, which you can see under Billing information. You can manage limits, check transactions and top up any time from the 24/7 Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app. Learn more about Coinepay on the main site, or reach the team via support or Telegram.

FAQ

Can I pay for EA Play with a Coinepay virtual card?

EA lists credit/debit card as a membership payment option, and you enter your Coinepay card number, expiry and CVV at checkout like any card. Available methods depend on your region and platform, and it isn't confirmed that every card type works everywhere, so contact Coinepay support if you want to confirm your card meets EA's requirements before buying.

Why was my card declined at EA Play checkout?

EA shows a code for each issue: 10055 is insufficient prepaid funds, 2001–2006/10023/NU2021 is a billing-address mismatch, 10024 is mismatched card details, 10025 is an expired card, and 10046/10049/NU2099 is an issuer decline. Match the code to the cause and fix that specific detail in your Coinepay app before retrying.

How much does EA Play cost?

There are two tiers, EA Play and EA Play Pro, each with monthly or annual billing. Prices vary by region and change over time, so check EA's official EA Play page for your country. The figures in this guide are examples displayed in October 2026 and are not a tax-inclusive checkout quote.

Can I split an EA Play payment between my card and EA Wallet?

No. EA memberships must be paid in a single amount, so EA Wallet can only be used when it covers the full cost. Make sure your Coinepay card has enough balance to pay the whole charge in one transaction.

How do I change the card on my EA Play membership?

For an EA-billed membership, go to EA Account → Subscriptions and Memberships → EA Play → Billing information and use the arrow beside Payment method. You can also manage saved cards under EA Account → Payment and Wallet → Payment Methods.
