You can create a ClickUp Workspace without a card, then add payment details when an owner or admin upgrades it. Before using a Coinepay virtual card, check ClickUp’s card rules: ClickUp accepts specified debit and credit cards but excludes prepaid debit cards. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets ClickUp’s requirements before you buy. This guide covers what to prepare, where to find ClickUp checkout, and what to check if a payment fails.
What you need before upgrading ClickUp
- A ClickUp account and Workspace: ClickUp’s website sign-up creates a Free Forever Workspace. You create a password, verify your email address, and complete Workspace onboarding. The free tier does not require a card.
- Owner or admin access: An owner or admin can upgrade a Workspace and manage its billing settings. If you cannot see those controls, ask someone with the appropriate Workspace role.
- A verified Coinepay account: Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Coinepay provides a virtual card number, expiry date, and CVV.
- Accurate payment information: Have your real billing name and address ready. ClickUp calculates applicable tax using the address entered at checkout. Check the Coinepay app or dashboard for information relevant to your card and available funds.
Check card eligibility first. ClickUp’s billing guidance lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover debit or credit cards as accepted payment methods. It says PayPal and prepaid debit cards are not accepted. Do not assume that a virtual card is eligible simply because you can enter its number at checkout. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets ClickUp’s stated requirements before you buy; ClickUp makes the final payment decision.
Choose the ClickUp plan and billing cycle
ClickUp’s public pricing page lists Free Forever, Core, Business, Enterprise, and Max in its newer plan lineup. It also retains an older section showing Free Forever, Unlimited, Business, and Enterprise. New Workspaces start on newer plans, while existing Workspaces are being moved gradually, so use the options displayed for your Workspace rather than assuming every account has the same upgrade choices.
At the time of writing (October 2026), ClickUp’s public page displayed Core at US$9, Business at US$17, and Max at US$100 per user per month when billed yearly; these were shown as discounted prices. The older section displayed Unlimited at US$7 per user per month when billed yearly or US$10 when billed monthly, and Business at US$12 when billed yearly or US$19 when billed monthly. Enterprise requires a quote. These figures are a dated reference, not a checkout quote: check ClickUp’s official pricing page and the order summary for your Workspace’s current plans, seat count, billing cycle, discounts, and total.
ClickUp says upgrades are charged in USD; non-USD figures shown on its website are conversions. Your card provider may apply a foreign-transaction charge. Review the amount and any applicable tax before confirming, and check the Coinepay app for your card’s current terms and available funds.
How to sign up and pay for ClickUp
- Create your ClickUp Workspace. On ClickUp’s official website, sign up, set a password, verify your email, and complete Workspace onboarding. You can begin on Free Forever without entering a card.
- Prepare your Coinepay card. After completing Coinepay registration and identity verification, find your virtual card details in the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app. Confirm the card is available for the intended payment and that you have enough funds for the checkout total. If you have not yet confirmed it meets ClickUp’s card rules, contact Coinepay support before proceeding.
- Open the upgrade flow. As a ClickUp Workspace owner or admin, select your Workspace avatar → Settings → Billing or Upgrade. The wording you see may depend on your current Workspace and plan.
- Select an available plan and cycle. Review the paid tier offered to your Workspace and choose monthly or yearly billing where ClickUp provides that choice. Enterprise directs you to sales rather than the standard self-service upgrade checkout.
- Review the order summary. Check the number of users, billing period, USD charge, and any tax calculated from your real checkout address. Do not rely on a converted website display as the final card charge.
- Enter card-payment details. If your Coinepay card meets ClickUp’s requirements, enter its number, expiry date, and CVV, along with your real billing details. Complete any payment authentication requested during checkout; do not retry or bypass a verification step with inaccurate information.
- Confirm and verify. Select ClickUp’s Upgrade confirmation after checking the total. Then return to Workspace avatar → Settings → Billing to review your plan, renewal date, payment card, and invoices.
If an upgrade does not appear immediately, check Billing and your payment status before submitting another order. A visible checkout attempt is not, by itself, confirmation that ClickUp activated a paid plan.
What to check if ClickUp declines the card
ClickUp says a failed payment can trigger an issue notification for the Workspace owner and admins. It provides billing details and a Try Again option. Start there: identify the attempted charge and check whether ClickUp asks you to correct payment details. If the issue persists, contact the appropriate support team rather than repeatedly submitting unchanged information.
- Insufficient available funds: Compare the amount available for your card with ClickUp’s full order total, including seats and applicable tax. Yearly billing can mean paying for a full billing period rather than a single month. Check your Coinepay app for available funds and funding options before using Try Again.
- Incorrect, expired, or inactive card details: Recheck the card number, expiry date, and CVV against the current details in Coinepay. ClickUp also identifies frozen or inactive cards as possible causes of failure. Check the card’s status in your Coinepay account or ask Coinepay support for help.
- Billing address mismatch: Enter your real billing name and address consistently with your payment information. Correct typos instead of substituting a different country or invented address. Because ClickUp uses the checkout address to calculate tax, review the updated total before confirming again.
- Authentication or bank authorization: If checkout asks for a 3-D Secure or similar verification step, complete the prompt through the legitimate payment flow. If no prompt appears, it fails, or authorization is refused, check your Coinepay app and contact Coinepay support. Do not assume every ClickUp payment will use the same authentication process.
- Card-type or merchant region checks: Revisit ClickUp’s debit-or-credit-card requirement and its exclusion of prepaid debit cards. Ask Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets the requirement; neither a successful card entry nor a retry establishes eligibility. Use your actual location and billing details, and contact ClickUp if its checkout indicates a regional restriction.
ClickUp does not provide platform access in Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, or Ukraine’s Crimea, Luhansk, and Donetsk regions, or to certain denied parties. Coinepay also does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions. A payment card cannot remove either service’s eligibility restrictions.
Manage renewal, cancellation, and refunds
Once subscribed, an owner or admin can use Workspace avatar → Settings → Billing to manage cards, plans, invoices, and the renewal date. ClickUp subscriptions auto-renew. To downgrade or cancel, go to Workspace avatar → Settings → Billing → Downgrade or Cancel plan; ClickUp says a downgrade takes effect at the end of the billing cycle.
Plan ahead for an annual subscription: ClickUp’s terms require at least 30 days’ notice before annual renewal for an annual-plan cancellation or downgrade. Do not interpret the ability to select cancellation at any time as a promise that an approaching annual renewal will be avoided. Check your renewal date and the terms applicable to your purchase.
ClickUp’s terms permit a full-refund request within 30 days of an eligible initial purchase and extend a 30-day guarantee to eligible upgrades or new features. Important exclusions include sales-assisted or reseller purchases, renewals or expansions, and initial purchases preceded by a pilot or trial. Other fees are generally nonrefundable unless the law requires otherwise. If you need a refund, review ClickUp’s current terms and contact ClickUp directly about eligibility; changing or removing a card is not the same as canceling a subscription.
