Canal+ sells its film, series and sport streaming tiers through country-specific storefronts, and the offers, prices and payment methods differ from one market to the next. This guide explains how to prepare a Coinepay virtual card, where to enter it during the Canal+ checkout, and what to do if a payment is declined. Always confirm the final total and plan details on the official Canal+ page for your country before you pay.
Before you start
A few things make the checkout smoother:
- Create and verify your Coinepay account. You must register and complete identity verification (KYC) before you can issue and use a card. Start at the Coinepay registration page or download the app for iOS or Android.
- Issue a virtual card. Coinepay generates the card number, expiry date and CVV instantly in your dashboard, which is what Canal+ needs for card entry.
- Use your real identity and billing details. Enter your genuine name and billing address. Do not use VPNs or false addresses to bypass Canal+ regional rules — Canal+ states that VPN use is not authorised for its service.
- Confirm who will bill you. In France, some internet providers and distributors resell Canal+, so you may be billed by them rather than Canal+ directly. Buy through the Canal+ boutique if you want Canal+ to bill your card.
Card acceptance depends on the merchant and the card type. Canal+ customer support in France has said that American Express cannot be used to pay a subscription, and that some foreign Visa cards — including certain US and Canadian cards — do not work. Acceptance of any other card type is not something we can confirm for you. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets a merchant's requirement before you buy.
Check the plan and price for your country
Canal+ prices are advertised per market and change often, especially during promotions. As a reference point at the time of writing (October 2026):
| Market | Example tiers seen |
|---|---|
| France (metropolitan) | CANAL+ at €19.99/month for the first 12 months then €24.99 on a 24-month commitment (no-commitment €24.99); CANAL+ CINÉ SÉRIES €24.99 for 12 months then €34.99 (promotion running 15 October–9 November 2026); CANAL+ SPORT €29.99 then €39.99; CANAL+ LA TOTALE €59.99 then €75.99; CANAL+ SERIES €6.99/month |
| Poland (streaming) | TELEWIZJA INTERNETOWA 19 zł, SERIALE I FILMY 29 zł, ULTRA 79 zł per month (each displayed price includes a 5 zł marketing-consent discount) |
| Senegal | ACCESS 5,500 FCFA, EVASION 11,000 FCFA, ACCESS+ 16,500 FCFA, TOUT CANAL+ 25,000 FCFA per month |
These are examples, not a worldwide price list, and some are tied to multi-year commitments. Check the live checkout total on the official Canal+ page for your region before you confirm. Note that the French boutique offers above are for metropolitan France.
Step-by-step: subscribe in France
- Go to the Canal+ boutique for France and choose an offer (for example CANAL+ or CANAL+ CINÉ SÉRIES).
- Use the offer's Sélectionner button to start checkout, and confirm whether it is a no-commitment plan or a commitment contract.
- Create or sign in to your Canal+ account and enter your real billing details.
- At the payment step, choose card payment and enter the number, expiry date and CVV from your Coinepay dashboard.
- Complete any 3-D Secure confirmation (see troubleshooting below), then review and confirm. Check the first charge and any later renewal amount before finishing.
One important caveat: Canal+ staff have said that recurring bank-card payment is not available for subscriptions sold with a commitment. If you take a committed plan, do not assume you can keep a card on file for recurring billing — review the payment options the checkout actually offers you. To manage payment methods later on a direct subscription, go to Espace Client → Paiement → Gérer mes moyens de paiement.
Step-by-step: subscribe in Poland
- Open the Canal+ online offer page for Poland and pick a streaming tier.
- At checkout, choose to pay by card and enter the number, expiry date and CVV/CVC. Poland also offers recurring BLIK where your bank participates, which uses a code from your banking app.
- Confirm any bank authentication and finish the order.
To change a Polish streaming payment method later, sign in and go to Moje Konto → Płatności → Zarządzaj, remove the old method, then add the new one. Canal+ warns that a removed recurring-BLIK method may not be re-enabled through that flow. Note also that billing through a mobile operator in Poland was only available until 31 March 2026.
If your card is declined: troubleshooting
Canal+ does not publish a full list of decline reasons, but these are the common causes to rule out:
Insufficient balance
Make sure your Coinepay card holds enough to cover the charge, including the first period and any future renewal, which may be higher than a promotional first-year rate. Top up in the Coinepay app and retry.
Billing address mismatch
The billing address you enter at Canal+ must match the details registered to your card. A mismatch is a frequent cause of declines. Review your profile in the Coinepay dashboard and use exactly those details.
3-D Secure authentication
Many Canal+ card payments trigger a 3-D Secure step. Make sure you can receive and approve the confirmation (for example the prompt in your Coinepay app) and complete it promptly so the authorisation does not time out.
Merchant region and card checks
Canal+ support has flagged that some foreign Visa cards do not work and that American Express is not accepted for subscriptions in France. If the checkout rejects a card for this reason, it is a merchant restriction, not something a workaround should bypass. Contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card is suitable for the Canal+ market you are buying in.
Technical errors that are not bank declines
Some subscribers have reported the message "Une erreur technique s'est produite. Veuillez réessayer" when updating a card, or a PayPal step that loads indefinitely. These are not necessarily a card decline. Canal+ suggests trying again in a private-browsing window and contacting its account support if the problem persists.
Cancellation, withdrawal and refunds (France)
For a direct no-commitment plan, cancel in Espace Client → Abonnement → Mes démarches → Résilier; Canal+ describes this as fee-free and says the offer ends at the end of the paid monthly period rather than immediately. For a committed plan, cancellation takes effect at the contract anniversary and your request must reach Canal+ at least 30 days before that date, otherwise it moves to the next anniversary.
Separately, online subscribers have a 14-day withdrawal right, exercised via the Canal+ form or the Rétractation button at the foot of Espace Client. This is different from ending a monthly renewal. Whether an automatic prorated refund follows an ordinary cancellation is not something we can confirm; check the terms shown at your checkout.

FAQ
Can I pay for Canal+ with a Coinepay virtual card?
You can enter a Coinepay virtual card's number, expiry date and CVV at the Canal+ card-payment step. Acceptance depends on the merchant and card type — Canal+ has said Amex is not accepted in France and some foreign Visa cards do not work. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card suits the Canal+ market you are buying in before you pay.
Why was my card declined at Canal+ checkout?
Common causes are insufficient balance, a billing address that does not match your card details, an incomplete 3-D Secure confirmation, or a merchant restriction on certain foreign or Amex cards. A "Une erreur technique s'est produite. Veuillez réessayer" message can be a site issue rather than a bank decline; try a private-browsing window or contact Canal+ support.
How much does Canal+ cost?
Prices are set per country and change with promotions. For example, in France at the time of writing (October 2026) CANAL+ was advertised at €19.99/month for the first 12 months. Always check the live total on the official Canal+ page for your region, as figures and plans vary.
Can I set up recurring card payments for a Canal+ subscription?
It depends on the plan and country. Canal+ staff have said recurring bank-card payment is not available for subscriptions sold with a commitment in France, while Poland offers recurring BLIK where your bank participates. Review the payment options shown at your checkout.
How do I cancel Canal+ after subscribing?
In France, cancel a no-commitment plan in Espace Client → Abonnement → Mes démarches → Résilier; it ends at the end of the paid period. Committed plans end at the contract anniversary and require at least 30 days' notice. Online subscribers also have a 14-day withdrawal right via the Rétractation button.
