The Apple Developer Program is the paid membership you need to publish apps on the App Store, access beta tools and use advanced capabilities. This guide shows how to pay for it using a Coinepay virtual card, walks through both the app and web enrollment flows, and helps you troubleshoot a declined payment. It is an independent help article and is not affiliated with Apple.
What you need before you start
- A verified Coinepay account. You must register and complete identity verification (KYC) before your virtual card can be used. If you have not done this yet, create your account and finish verification first.
- A Coinepay virtual card with enough available balance to cover the annual fee plus any currency conversion. Your card number, expiry date and CVV appear instantly in the Coinepay app once issued.
- An Apple Account with two-factor authentication enabled. Apple requires this to enroll.
- Your real billing details — legal name and billing address exactly as they appear on your Coinepay profile. Individual web applicants must use their own card; Apple notes that using another person's card can delay enrollment and trigger an ID request.
Coinepay services tied to virtual assets are not available to residents of mainland China, and some services are not offered in every jurisdiction. Check availability in the Coinepay app before you rely on your card for this purchase.
How much the Apple Developer Program costs
At the time of writing (October 2026), Apple's published fee for the Apple Developer Program is $99 per year, offered to both individuals and organizations as a single membership. The separate Apple Developer Enterprise Program is $299 per membership year for eligible organizations distributing internal apps, and enrollment there requires Apple approval. There is also a free Apple developer account that carries no membership fee but is not the paid program.
The price you see during enrollment can vary by region. For reference, recent app-listing annual prices included £78.99 (UK), €98.99 (Germany), ₹8,700 (India), ¥12,800 (Japan), C$118.99 (Canada) and A$144.99 (Australia). Treat these as indicative only — always confirm the exact amount shown on Apple's official enrollment page or in the Apple Developer app before you pay.
Qualifying nonprofits, accredited educational institutions and government entities can request a fee waiver, but Apple says an approved waiver does not refund a membership you have already paid for.
Paying through web enrollment
Web enrollment is the usual route in most regions (India is app-only — see below).
- Go to Apple's developer site, sign in with your Apple Account and open the enrollment flow.
- Choose whether you are enrolling as an individual or an organization. Individuals can purchase after agreeing to the license; organizations purchase after Apple verifies the entity and emails next steps.
- Complete the required information and identity steps.
- At checkout, pick from the payment methods Apple actually presents. Where Developer products are not available on your regional Apple Store Online, Apple shows a credit-card form that requires a card chargeable in USD.
- Enter your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV, and the billing address that matches your Coinepay profile.
- Complete any 3-D Secure authentication prompt, then confirm the purchase.
After payment, your membership activates according to Apple's processing. Where web auto-renew is available, Apple charges the default card associated with the Apple Account at renewal.
Paying through the Apple Developer app
In supported regions you can enroll inside the Apple Developer app as an in-app subscription:
- Open the Apple Developer app and go to Account → Enroll Now.
- Complete the required information and identity steps.
- Review the annual subscription and tap Subscribe. It renews automatically until you cancel.
- The subscription is billed to your Apple Account payment method. To add or change this, go to Settings → [your name] → Payment & Shipping on your iPhone or iPad and add your Coinepay virtual card there. An organization can add its card to the Apple Account signed in on device settings.
Two region-specific points to note: Apple Account balance is not accepted for membership except for developers based in India, and India enrollment is app-only. Do not assume your balance is eligible just because it pays for other Apple purchases.
Troubleshooting a declined card
Apple does not publish decline codes, so a failure can come from Apple, your card issuer or an account restriction. Work through the causes Apple itself documents.
Insufficient balance or spending limit
Confirm your Coinepay card has enough available balance to cover the annual fee plus any conversion to USD or your local charge currency. Apple flags debit-card spending limits as a cause of declines, so check your limits in the Coinepay app and top up if needed.
Billing-address mismatch
Apple checks that the billing address matches your card record. Enter the name and address exactly as they appear on your Coinepay profile. A mismatch is one of the most common reasons an otherwise valid card is refused.
3-D Secure / authorization
If a verification step appears, complete it. Apple lists issuer authorization among the items to verify, so make sure your card is active and that any approval prompt in the Coinepay app is actioned promptly.
Merchant region and card-currency checks
On web checkout where Developer products are unavailable locally, Apple requires a card chargeable in USD. Apple also flags possible international-purchase restrictions and unpaid prior orders for App Store declines. If your card is refused here, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card can be charged in the currency Apple is requesting before you try again.
Reported error messages
Developers have reported messages such as "Your payment authorisation failed on card …", "Items in your order are not eligible for this payment method" (when using Apple Pay), "Unknown Error. Please try again," and "Enrollment through the Apple Developer app is not available for this Apple Account." These are user reports rather than official diagnoses. If you hit one, verify your card details, confirm your balance and billing address, then retry; if it persists, check your card activity in the Coinepay app and reach out to Coinepay support. For account-side errors, contact Apple Developer Support.
Apple restricts individual web applicants to their own card. Always pay with a card registered in your own name and real details — do not attempt to work around Apple's identity or region checks.
Managing renewals and cancellation
The program renews annually. If you enrolled in the app, cancel at least one day before renewal via Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Apple Developer Program → Cancel Subscription; access continues until the expiration date and the paid year is nonrefundable under Apple's guidance. If you enrolled on the web, open Membership details in your Developer account and turn off Auto-renew where it is available, or simply do not renew manually. Web auto-renew is offered only in certain regions.

FAQ
Can I use a Coinepay virtual card for the Apple Developer Program?
You can enter your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry and CVV at Apple's checkout like any other card, using your real name and billing address. Apple decides acceptance at purchase, and on some web checkouts it requires a card chargeable in USD. Whether a specific merchant accepts a given card is never guaranteed, so confirm with Coinepay support if you are unsure your card can be charged in the required currency.
How much does the Apple Developer Program cost?
At the time of writing (October 2026), Apple's published fee is $99 per year for the standard program, with the Apple Developer Enterprise Program at $299 per membership year. Local prices vary by region and are shown during enrollment. Always confirm the current amount on Apple's official enrollment page before paying.
Why was my card declined during Apple Developer enrollment?
Common causes Apple documents include insufficient balance or a debit spending limit, a billing-address mismatch, a failed 3-D Secure or issuer authorization, and region or card-currency restrictions. Check your Coinepay balance and that your billing details match exactly, then retry. If it keeps failing, contact Coinepay support and, for account-side errors, Apple Developer Support.
Can I pay for the membership with my Apple Account balance?
No, except for developers based in India. Apple's Developer app states that Apple Account balance is not accepted for membership outside India, so you will generally need a card or another presented method.
Is the annual fee refundable if I cancel?
Under Apple's membership guidance the paid year is nonrefundable. If you cancel, your access continues until the membership expiration date. An approved fee waiver also does not refund a membership you have already paid for.
