If you live or run a business in Tajikistan, paying for an AI tool, software subscription, ad account or overseas purchase can be harder than paying a local merchant. A declined payment does not necessarily mean the website rejects customers in Tajikistan. The card’s international settings, the issuer’s rules and the merchant’s checks can all affect the result. This guide explains what to check and how to set up a Coinepay virtual card if the service is available to you.
Why a card used in Tajikistan may be declined abroad
The National Bank of Tajikistan distinguishes local cards, cards on the domestic Korti Milli system and international cards. A card being digital does not, by itself, mean it can pay on a foreign website. The issuer determines which functions are available, and the website must be able to process that card.
- International or online payments are turned off. Some issuers require you to enable online or cross-border purchases before trying a foreign checkout. Check your bank’s app or ask the issuer which settings apply to your card.
- The purchase exceeds an applicable restriction. An issuer may apply online, foreign-currency or transaction controls. A subscription renewal can fail even if an earlier purchase succeeded, so check the current settings rather than relying on a previous payment.
- The purchase involves another currency. If a card account is denominated in Tajik somoni and the merchant charges in another currency, conversion is involved. For example, Eskhata Bank says its TJS-denominated Visa Virtual converts into the payment currency. That is a feature of Eskhata’s product, not a rule for every card.
- The merchant applies its own checks. A website may compare the account country, billing details and payment instrument, or restrict cards by type or country of issue. Those checks are separate from any approval by your card issuer.
Tajikistan’s payment-card and foreign-currency rules also matter. The National Bank of Tajikistan’s Instruction No. 190 governs services provided through bank payment cards, while issuers set product conditions under the applicable rules. Follow any requirements that apply to your residency and transaction, and ask your bank or a qualified adviser if you are unsure about a foreign-currency payment. Do not enter a different country or inaccurate billing information to try to make a payment pass.
What a Coinepay virtual card can be used for
Coinepay issues virtual cards whose card number, expiry date and CVV are available after issuance. Cardholders can use them to make online payments for categories such as AI subscriptions, software, advertising and shopping, subject to the merchant’s checkout rules and their own eligibility. The card is managed through Coinepay’s self-service dashboard and mobile app.
For a person or business in Tajikistan, the first step is to confirm in the Coinepay app or with Coinepay support that the relevant service is available for your circumstances. Availability is not the same as acceptance by a particular merchant. If a website specifies permitted card types or countries of issue, contact support to confirm your card meets the requirement before you buy. Do not assume a new virtual card will resolve a merchant-imposed restriction.
Tajik banks offer different virtual-card products, which helps explain why experiences vary. Alif Bank describes its Mastercard Digital as an international virtual card in somoni and requires an identified Alif wallet. Eskhata Bank makes its Visa Virtual available through Eskhata Online to verified users who have signed its service agreement. These are those banks’ conditions; neither product’s features or eligibility rules should be attributed to Coinepay.
How to get a Coinepay virtual card
- Check availability and register. Start at Coinepay registration. Enter your real personal or business details and your actual country of residence. If you are registering on behalf of a business, use the business information requested during onboarding.
- Complete identity verification. Coinepay requires registration and identity verification before you can use card services. Follow the document and information requests shown in the app or dashboard. Make sure your submissions match your legal identity; incomplete or inconsistent details may prevent you from proceeding.
- Review the available card service. Once eligible, use the app or dashboard to request a virtual card and review the conditions shown there before proceeding. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions. If you cannot find the card option or have questions about eligibility, contact support rather than assuming an application has been approved.
- Get your card details. After issuance, locate the card number, expiry date and CVV in your Coinepay account. Keep them private and use them only at a checkout you trust.
You can manage your account from the dashboard or download the Coinepay app for iOS or Android. Some services are not available in every jurisdiction. If the app does not offer the service you need, ask support what options apply to you; do not use another person’s identity or account.
How to add funds and pay at checkout
- Open the funding options in your account. Check the Coinepay app or dashboard for the funding methods currently offered to you and follow the instructions displayed there. Before attempting a purchase, confirm that your account or card has sufficient available funds for the full charge, including any amount shown at checkout.
- Choose the product on its official site. Sign in to the AI service, software provider, advertising platform or shop. Review the product, renewal terms and final checkout amount. Prices and available subscriptions can vary by region, so rely on the provider’s current official pricing page.
- Enter your virtual card details. At a card checkout, type the Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV. Use your real name and billing details as requested by the merchant. Complete any verification prompted by the checkout rather than repeatedly resubmitting an unchanged payment.
- Confirm the result. Look for an order confirmation or an active subscription in the merchant account, then check your Coinepay activity. For recurring services, keep track of the renewal date and manage the subscription through the merchant’s account settings.
Businesses paying for ads can issue a dedicated Coinepay virtual card for each Facebook, Google or TikTok ad account and set custom spending limits per card. Keeping accounts separate can make it easier to identify which campaign incurred a charge. It does not override an advertising platform’s billing policies or payment review.
Examples of international purchases
People in Tajikistan may look for a card checkout when paying for ChatGPT or another AI tool, Microsoft 365 or other work software, an Adobe subscription, advertising on Google, Facebook or TikTok, or items from an overseas online shop. Each provider controls its own account availability, supported payment methods, billing rules and subscription settings. Check the provider’s official site before signing up, particularly if you need a business invoice or expect a recurring charge.
For a subscription, confirm that the service is offered to your actual location and that the account details you entered are correct. For advertising, check the billing setup inside the specific ad account you intend to fund. For shopping, also review whether the seller ships to your address: a successful card payment does not establish that an order can be delivered to Tajikistan.
If the payment is declined
- Check the simple details first. Compare the card number, expiry date, CVV and billing information with what you entered. Check your available funds and whether the card remains usable in your Coinepay account.
- Read the merchant’s message. A message about an unsupported payment method or billing country points to a different issue from an incorrect security code. If the merchant publishes card-type or country-of-issue restrictions, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets them before making another attempt.
- Check the original card if you were using a Tajik-issued one. Ask its issuer whether international e-commerce is enabled and whether an online or foreign-currency restriction applies. A Korti Milli card’s domestic use should not be confused with the functions of an international card.
- Contact the right support team. If a Coinepay card was declined, give Coinepay support the merchant name, purchase amount, date and the exact error text, but never send your full card number or CVV in a support message. If the merchant rejected the account or product itself, ask the merchant to explain its checkout policy.
Payment providers may also review unusual transactions to meet applicable legal and security requirements. A decline alone does not identify its cause. Use accurate information and respond to legitimate verification requests rather than trying to work around a check.

FAQ
Will any virtual card work on international websites from Tajikistan?
No. The card’s supported functions and the merchant’s payment rules both matter. A virtual card intended for domestic use is not automatically suitable for an overseas checkout.
Do I need identity verification to get a Coinepay virtual card?
Yes. You must register and complete identity verification before using Coinepay card services. Check the app or contact support to confirm availability for your circumstances.
Can I use a Coinepay card for AI subscriptions and advertising?
Coinepay cards can be used for AI subscriptions and advertising payments, subject to the provider’s checkout rules. Businesses can create a dedicated card for each ad account and set custom spending limits.
What should I do if an overseas checkout declines my card?
Check your card details, billing information and available funds, then read the exact checkout error. Contact Coinepay support about a card decline or the merchant about its payment restrictions.
