Coinepay Global Remittance supports transfers from the United Arab Emirates to India. You can choose an available payout method, review the exchange rate and fees before confirming, and track the transfer afterward. This guide explains what to prepare for an Indian bank deposit, a mobile-wallet payout or cash pickup—and how to handle common problems.
What you need before sending
Register for Coinepay and complete identity verification before starting a transfer. You can manage transfers in the Coinepay mobile app or 24/7 self-service dashboard. If you need an account, register with Coinepay.
Have the recipient’s full legal name ready. It should match the name on their bank account, wallet registration or identification document, depending on the payout method. Confirm the details directly with the recipient rather than copying them from an old payment. You may also need to state the genuine purpose of the transfer and provide supporting documents, such as information about the source of funds.
The UAE’s currency is the dirham (AED), and India’s local currency is the rupee (INR). In the transfer flow, choose India as the destination and check the currencies and payout details displayed for your transaction. Do not assume that every payout method is available for every recipient or transfer purpose.
Choose an India payout method
Bank account deposit
For a local INR credit to an Indian bank account, ask the recipient for their name as held by the bank, account number and 11-character IFSC. The IFSC identifies the Indian bank branch. Have the recipient verify the account number and IFSC with their bank; an account number that looks plausible can still point to the wrong account. Select bank deposit in Coinepay and enter the fields requested for the route shown.
Indian bank accounts use account numbers, not IBANs. Do not ask an Indian recipient for a UAE-style IBAN. If the transfer flow calls for a direct international bank wire, it may also ask for the recipient bank’s SWIFT/BIC and correspondent-bank instructions. Confirm those instructions with the recipient’s bank. A SWIFT/BIC identifies a bank for that type of route; it does not replace the recipient’s account number or the IFSC required for a local INR credit. Likewise, a US routing number or a CLABE is not the Indian local bank code.
Mobile wallet or UPI-linked payout
Check the Coinepay transfer flow for the mobile-wallet options offered for this particular UAE-to-India transfer. If a wallet payout is available, ask the recipient to confirm the exact wallet identifier requested in the app, that the wallet is registered in their legal name, and that it can receive the proposed transfer. Enter the identifier exactly as the recipient provides it. Availability can depend on the payout partner, the recipient’s provider and applicable Indian rules, so do not assume that a familiar wallet name will appear as an option.
UPI needs a separate check. Some foreign-remittance routes can use a UPI ID to credit a recipient’s KYC-compliant Indian bank account. A UPI ID in that situation is a bank-linked payment identifier, not necessarily a standalone mobile-wallet balance. If Coinepay offers a UPI option for your transfer, ask the recipient to confirm their UPI ID and linked account details, then follow the fields and instructions shown in the app. Otherwise, use an available bank-deposit method rather than entering a UPI ID in an account-number field.
Cash pickup
If cash pickup appears as an option for your transfer to India, select the available pickup location and check the collection instructions before confirming. Give the recipient their transfer reference and the pickup information shown for the transaction. They should bring a valid identification document bearing the same legal name used on the transfer and follow any additional requirements shown for that location. Cash pickup is route-dependent: an option offered for one transfer should not be assumed available for another.
For an Indian recipient, it is also worth checking whether their chosen bank account or payout method is appropriate for the transfer’s purpose. Indian rules distinguish between bank-account remittance routes and cash-pickup routes. For example, a cash-pickup route intended for personal remittances may not be suitable for a supplier payment or an investment. If you are unsure, check the options presented in Coinepay and ask Coinepay support before confirming.
How to send money from the UAE to India
- Sign in to your verified account. Open the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard and start a Global Remittance transfer. If identity verification or other information is requested, complete it using your real details.
- Set up the route. Choose India as the destination, enter the amount and select the currencies shown for your transfer. Check the available payout methods for the recipient.
- Enter recipient and payout details. Use the recipient’s full legal name. For a bank deposit, carefully enter the account number and IFSC; add SWIFT/BIC or other bank instructions only if the selected route requests them. For a wallet, UPI-linked option or cash pickup, follow the method-specific fields displayed.
- State the transfer purpose accurately. Choose the description or purpose requested in the transfer flow. Do not label a business payment as a personal gift or choose a purpose simply because it seems easier to process.
- Review before confirming. Check the recipient’s name, destination, payout method, account or pickup details, currencies, and the exchange rate and fees shown before confirmation. Correct any mistake before proceeding.
- Confirm and track. Confirm the transfer, keep its reference, and use Coinepay’s status tracking in the app or dashboard to follow its progress. Share collection instructions with the recipient if you selected cash pickup.
Recipient-side checks in India
For a bank deposit, the recipient should confirm that the account is active and able to receive the relevant inward remittance. Their bank may ask about the payment’s purpose or request documents before making funds available. If the app asks for a purpose code, select the one that accurately describes the payment; an incorrect code can cause a delay or rejection. A business paying an overseas trading partner should use a route and purpose appropriate for trade, rather than a personal cash-pickup route.
For wallet or UPI-linked payouts, the recipient should check that their registration and any required identity verification are complete. For cash pickup, they should check the listed collection point’s identification and reference requirements. The recipient may also have tax or reporting obligations based on why they received the money. For instance, a genuine gift from abroad is not automatically exempt from Indian tax; the recipient should seek qualified advice if its treatment is unclear.
All transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may ask for documents explaining the purpose or source of funds. It does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions. Give accurate information and respond to any document request through the appropriate Coinepay channel.
Troubleshooting an India transfer
- Wrong name, account number or IFSC: Check the entry against details confirmed by the recipient’s bank. An error can result in rejection or a return. If you have already confirmed the transfer, contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer reference; do not assume a submitted payment can be edited.
- Missing bank instructions: If the selected route requests SWIFT/BIC or correspondent-bank details, obtain them from the recipient’s bank. Do not substitute an IFSC for a SWIFT/BIC or use an IBAN in place of an Indian account number.
- Compliance review: Check the transfer status and respond to requests for identification, purpose-of-payment information or source-of-funds documents. Provide accurate documents rather than starting another transfer to avoid the review.
- Transfer still in progress: Funding, bank processing, additional checks, weekends or public holidays can affect progress. Check Coinepay’s status tracking; if the status needs clarification, contact support with your reference.
- Returned transfer: Ask support for the reported reason before trying again. Reconfirm the recipient’s legal name, payout details and transfer purpose so the same issue is not repeated.
You can manage the transfer through the Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app for iOS or Android. If a payout option, document request or status is unclear, contact Coinepay support before taking further action.

FAQ
Do I need the recipient’s IBAN to send money to an Indian bank account?
No. For a local INR bank deposit, ask for the recipient’s legal name, Indian account number and 11-character IFSC. Follow any additional fields shown for the selected route.
Is an IFSC the same as a SWIFT/BIC?
No. An IFSC identifies an Indian bank branch for local account credit. A direct international wire may separately require the bank’s SWIFT/BIC and correspondent-bank instructions.
Can the recipient receive the transfer through UPI or cash pickup?
Check the payout methods offered for your specific Coinepay transfer. A UPI option may credit a linked Indian bank account; cash pickup, when offered, requires the recipient to follow the displayed collection instructions.
What should I do if I entered the wrong recipient details?
Contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer reference. Incorrect details may cause a rejection or return, and a confirmed transfer may not be editable.
