Coinepay Global Remittance supports transfers from France to Senegal. You can choose an available bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup payout, review the exchange rate and fees before confirming, and track the transfer afterward. This guide explains what to collect from your recipient and how to avoid common payout problems.
What you need before sending
Start with a Coinepay account and complete identity verification. You can manage your transfer through the Coinepay mobile app or 24/7 self-service dashboard. Have your own accurate identity details ready, along with your recipient’s full legal name as it appears on their bank account, wallet registration or identification document. Ask the recipient which payout method they can use before entering the transfer.
For a bank deposit, request the account details directly from the recipient’s Senegalese bank. For a wallet payout, request the phone number linked to the recipient’s eligible wallet. For cash pickup, check that the recipient has valid identification and can reach an available pickup location. Coinepay may ask for information about the purpose of the payment or source of funds; give a complete, truthful answer if prompted.
Senegal’s local currency is the West African CFA franc (XOF). When setting up the transfer, check the payout currency offered for your selected method and the amount the recipient is shown to receive. Do not assume that every payout method or currency option will be available for every transaction; use the options displayed in Coinepay for your transfer.
Choose a payout method in Senegal
Bank account deposit
Choose bank deposit when the recipient wants funds paid into a Senegalese bank account. Collect their exact account-holder name, bank name and the account reference supplied by their bank. A Senegalese domestic RIB has 24 characters: a five-character bank code, five-digit branch code, 12-character account number and two-digit RIB check key. Copy the reference exactly rather than trying to reconstruct it from a partial account number.
The transfer form may also request the recipient bank’s SWIFT/BIC, an international bank identifier of 8 to 11 characters. Ask the recipient or their bank for the correct code. You may encounter an SN-prefixed, 28-character IBAN-style reference in practice, but Senegal does not have a nationally registered IBAN format in Swift’s September 2026 registry. Do not generate an IBAN yourself: ask the bank which account reference is appropriate, then enter the details requested by the Coinepay transfer form. If the form’s requirements and the bank’s instructions differ, contact Coinepay support before confirming.
Mobile wallet
A mobile wallet can be useful when the recipient normally receives money on their phone rather than into a bank account. Orange Money, Wave and Free Money are examples of wallet networks used for Senegal payouts. Check which wallet options Coinepay displays for this particular transfer; the presence of a wallet in Senegal does not mean it will appear as an option in every transaction.
Ask the recipient for the name registered to the wallet and the phone number linked to that wallet. For a Wave payout, in particular, use the number linked to the recipient’s Wave account, not another number they happen to own. Confirm the network and number with the recipient before sending. They may need access to their registered phone and wallet account to use the funds, subject to the wallet provider’s requirements.
Cash pickup
Cash pickup lets the recipient collect funds at an available payout location rather than receive a bank or wallet credit. Enter the recipient’s full legal name exactly as shown on their valid identification. Before you send, ask them to check the available pickup location, its opening hours and the identification it requires. After confirming, use Coinepay’s transfer status and any collection instructions provided for that transfer; do not assume that a tracking number or collection process from another remittance provider applies to Coinepay.
Pickup availability can depend on the location, the payout currency offered there and applicable checks. Tell the recipient to wait until the transfer is ready for collection before making a trip, and to follow the instructions shown for their specific payout.
How to send money from France to Senegal
- Sign in to a verified account. Register for Coinepay if needed, complete identity verification and open the Global Remittance transfer flow in the app or dashboard.
- Choose the route and amount. Select France as the sending country and Senegal as the destination. Enter the amount, then check the available payout currency and methods shown for this transfer.
- Select the recipient’s payout method. Choose bank deposit, an available mobile wallet or cash pickup. Enter the recipient’s real legal name and the account, wallet or pickup details requested. Use the bank-issued RIB or other accepted account reference for a bank payout; do not guess a missing code.
- Review the transfer. Check the recipient’s name and details character by character. Review the exchange rate, fees and recipient amount shown before confirmation, along with any payment-purpose or document requests. If something is wrong, correct it before proceeding.
- Confirm and track. Confirm the transfer only when the details are accurate. Open its status in the Coinepay app or dashboard to follow progress, and keep the transfer reference and any recipient instructions available in case you need support.
What the recipient should expect
For a bank deposit, the recipient should check the account they provided, including whether its registered name matches the transfer. For a wallet payout, they should check the eligible wallet linked to the submitted phone number. For cash pickup, they should follow the transfer-specific collection instructions and bring the identification required by the payout location. A status update is more useful than an assumed delivery schedule: check the transfer in Coinepay before telling the recipient that funds are ready.
Receiving funds from outside the West African Economic and Monetary Union can involve checks by an authorised intermediary in Senegal. The intermediary may need to establish the nature of the payment and identify the sender sufficiently before releasing funds, and may request missing sender, recipient or purpose information. The receiving intermediary also has reporting obligations for transfers arriving from abroad; that does not, by itself, mean every recipient must personally file a declaration for an ordinary electronic personal remittance. Transactions such as export receipts, foreign investment or external borrowing can have additional documentation requirements.
All transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and applicable local regulations. Coinepay may request documents about the purpose of a transfer or the source of funds. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions, and screens customers and counterparties against sanctions lists.
Troubleshooting a transfer to Senegal
- Recipient details are wrong: If you have not confirmed the transfer, edit the name, RIB, bank code, SWIFT/BIC or wallet number before proceeding. If it is already confirmed, contact Coinepay support with the transfer reference. Do not send a replacement until you understand what happened to the first transfer.
- The transfer is under review: Check for requests in Coinepay and provide accurate identity, payment-purpose or source-of-funds information. The Senegalese receiving intermediary may also request information needed to release an incoming payment. A review does not necessarily mean the transfer has failed.
- The recipient has not received it: Check the latest transfer status, then ask the recipient to verify the correct bank account or linked wallet. For cash pickup, check collection instructions and location hours. Bank processing, weekends, public holidays and regulatory checks can also affect availability.
- A bank payout is returned: An incorrect or closed account, or a name mismatch, can lead to rejection. Use the transfer status and contact support to establish the return outcome before starting another transfer. Ask the recipient’s bank to confirm the correct details for a new attempt.
If a required payout option or account field is unclear, stop before confirming and ask Coinepay support. Checking the details first is easier than resolving a misdirected or returned payout later.

FAQ
What currency does a recipient in Senegal use?
Senegal’s local currency is the West African CFA franc (XOF). Check the payout currency and recipient amount shown for your transfer before confirming.
Does my recipient need a Senegalese IBAN?
Not necessarily. Ask their bank for the account reference accepted for the selected payout. Senegal uses a 24-character domestic RIB; do not generate an IBAN-style reference yourself.
Can I send to a mobile wallet in Senegal?
Coinepay supports mobile-wallet payouts. Check the wallets offered for your transfer, then enter the recipient’s registered name and the phone number linked to their eligible wallet.
What should I do if I entered the wrong recipient details?
Correct them before confirmation if possible. If the transfer is already confirmed, contact Coinepay support with its reference and check its status before sending another.
Why might my transfer be under review?
Identity, sanctions and local regulatory checks may require more information. Coinepay or the receiving intermediary may ask for the payment purpose, sender details or source-of-funds documents.
