You can use Coinepay Global Remittance to send money to Kuwait. Before starting, get the recipient’s full legal name and the details for their preferred payout method. Kuwait’s local currency is the Kuwaiti dinar (KWD). The options available for your particular transfer, along with the exchange rate and fees, are shown in Coinepay before you confirm.
What you need before you send
- A verified Coinepay account: Register and complete identity verification before making a transfer. You can manage the transfer in the Coinepay app or 24/7 self-service dashboard.
- The recipient’s full legal name: Enter it as it appears on their bank account or identity document. Ask for their address if the transfer form requests it; abbreviated or incomplete beneficiary details can prompt questions from a receiving bank.
- Payout details: For a bank deposit, ask the recipient for their own Kuwaiti IBAN and the receiving bank’s SWIFT/BIC. For another payout method, collect the details requested for that option in the transfer form.
- A clear reason for the payment: Be ready to describe its purpose accurately and provide a purpose-of-payment code if requested. Kuwait uses standardized purpose codes for transactions through its local payment systems.
Use your real identity and accurate recipient information. Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay or a payment provider may ask for supporting documents, including evidence of the payment’s purpose or source of funds. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions.
How to send money to Kuwait
- Sign in and start a transfer. Open the Coinepay app or dashboard and select the option to send a cross-border transfer. If you are new to Coinepay, register and complete the required verification first.
- Choose Kuwait and the currencies. Set Kuwait as the destination. Select the sending currency and an available receiving currency; choose KWD if you want the recipient to receive Kuwaiti dinars and that option is offered for your transfer.
- Select the recipient and payout method. Choose an available bank deposit, cash pickup or mobile-wallet option, then enter the details the form requests. Check the spelling of the recipient’s name and every account or pickup detail against information supplied by the recipient.
- Enter the amount and purpose. Describe what the payment is for rather than using an unclear abbreviation. Provide any additional sender, recipient or supporting information requested for the route.
- Review before confirming. Check the recipient, payout method, currencies and amount. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm the transfer. Read that review screen, including the amount the recipient is expected to receive, before proceeding.
- Confirm and track it. Submit the transfer only when the details are correct. Follow its status in the Coinepay app or dashboard and respond to any request for more information.
Available payout choices depend on the details shown when you set up the transfer. Do not send to a different person or select an inaccurate purpose to try to make a particular route available.
Choosing a payout method in Kuwait
Bank-account deposit
For a deposit to a Kuwaiti bank account, the recipient should get their IBAN directly from their bank or banking app and give you the receiving bank’s SWIFT/BIC. You may also need their full address and the bank details requested on the transfer form. Local banks include National Bank of Kuwait, Gulf Bank, Kuwait Finance House and Boubyan Bank; use the code for the recipient’s actual bank, not one copied from a different bank.
A Kuwait IBAN has 30 characters: KW, two check digits, a four-letter bank identifier and 22 account characters. Enter the complete IBAN without guessing missing characters. Its bank identifier is part of the IBAN; the Kuwait IBAN format does not contain a separate branch-identifier field. IFSC, CLABE and US routing numbers are not components of a Kuwait IBAN. If Coinepay asks for another local bank code or routing detail for the selected route, ask the recipient’s bank for the correct value rather than substituting one of those codes.
The account holder’s name should match the name you enter for the beneficiary. The recipient may need to answer their bank’s questions about the sender or payment purpose before funds can be credited. A bank may suspend or reject a transfer if required sender or beneficiary information is missing.
Cash pickup
Choose cash pickup only if Coinepay offers a pickup location for your Kuwait transfer. The recipient does not need to provide a bank account for this method, but they should be able to visit the designated location with a valid identity document, such as a Kuwait Civil ID where accepted. Share the pickup instructions and reference provided for your confirmed transfer with the intended recipient. They should check the location’s stated identification requirements before visiting; requirements can differ by payout provider.
Mobile-wallet payout
Coinepay supports mobile-wallet payouts as a remittance method, but do not assume a particular wallet can receive an inbound transfer in Kuwait. Select this option only if the transfer form displays an eligible Kuwait wallet. The recipient would need an account with that wallet and the identifying details requested in the form, such as the phone number registered to it. Confirm those details with the recipient and check the on-screen requirements before sending. If no eligible wallet appears, choose an available bank-deposit or cash-pickup option instead.
What the recipient should expect
Tell the recipient which payout method you chose and which currency the review screen shows they will receive. For a bank deposit, they should watch the account linked to the IBAN they supplied. For cash pickup, they should use the instructions for the designated location rather than visiting an unrelated agent. For a wallet payout, they should check the eligible wallet account identified in the transfer.
Receiving banks and payout providers in Kuwait may verify a beneficiary’s identity or ask about an incoming payment. A clear purpose and complete sender and recipient details help them process those checks. Keep any relevant invoice, agreement or other evidence of the transfer’s purpose available in case it is requested. Do not assume that submitting the transfer means the recipient can collect or use the funds immediately; check its tracked status and any instructions from the payout provider.
Troubleshooting a Kuwait transfer
- The recipient details are wrong: If you notice a misspelled legal name, incorrect IBAN, wrong SWIFT/BIC or incorrect pickup details, contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer reference. Do not assume a submitted payment can be edited or recalled. A receiving bank may reject a payment when account or beneficiary details do not match.
- The transfer is under review: Check the app or dashboard for a request for information. Identity verification, sanctions screening and local requirements can involve questions about the sender, recipient, purpose or source of funds. Provide accurate documents through the requested channel; do not submit a different transfer to avoid a review.
- The status has not changed: Check the tracked status before asking the recipient to contact their bank or pickup provider. Bank working hours, weekends, public holidays and intermediary-bank processing can affect a bank transfer. If the status is unclear, give Coinepay support the transfer reference so they can help investigate.
- The transfer was returned: Check the reported reason before trying again. Wrong account details or missing payment information can cause a rejection or return. Confirm the recipient’s details with their bank, review the status in Coinepay, and contact support if you need help understanding the return or its next steps.
