Coinepay Global Remittance lets you send money from Canada to Jamaica and track it from start to finish. Whether you are supporting family in Kingston or Montego Bay, paying a bill or settling with a business partner, this guide walks through what you need before you start, the payout methods you can choose, and how to complete and follow your transfer. The exchange rate and fees are always shown in the Coinepay app before you confirm, so there are no surprises.

Before you start

To send a cross-border transfer with Coinepay you need a registered account with completed identity verification (KYC). If you have not done this yet, create your Coinepay account and finish verification first. You can manage everything from the 24/7 dashboard or the mobile app on iOS and Google Play.

Every transfer is subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay screens all senders and recipients against sanctions lists and may ask for supporting documents such as the purpose of the transfer or the source of funds. In Canada, money-services businesses report qualifying outgoing international electronic funds transfers of CAD 10,000 or more to FINTRAC, and comparable transfers are aggregated under a 24-hour rule. This is a provider reporting requirement, not a limit on what you can send legitimately, and it is no reason to split a transfer or route it through a third party.

What you need from your recipient

Jamaica's local currency is the Jamaican dollar (JMD). The details you collect depend on how your recipient wants to receive the money. In all cases you need their full legal name exactly as it appears on their bank account or government ID and a way to contact them.

 • For a bank deposit: the recipient's name as registered with the bank, the bank name and branch, and the account number. For transfers routed as an international wire you may also need the receiving bank's SWIFT/BIC and, for some banks, a branch or transit code.
 • For cash pickup: the recipient's full name exactly as on the ID they will present, plus the reference or control number your transfer generates.
 • For a mobile wallet (where offered at checkout): the recipient's registered name and the phone number or wallet ID linked to the account.

Account and branch details in Jamaica are bank-specific. Scotiabank, for example, asks for the branch-account transit and account number, while NCB's wire instructions ask for the customer account number. There is no national IBAN format for Jamaica in SWIFT's 2026 registry, so do not try to construct an IBAN — use the exact account instructions your recipient's bank provides. Example bank SWIFT/BICs include Scotiabank NOSCJMKN, NCB JNCBJMKX and JN Bank JNBSJMKN; these identify the bank and are not a substitute for the recipient's account number.

Payout methods for Jamaica

Bank deposit

Funds land directly in the recipient's Jamaican bank account. Common receiving banks include NCB, Scotiabank, JN Bank, JMMB Bank and CIBC FirstCaribbean. Make sure the name on the account matches the name you enter, and that the account number and branch details are copied exactly. The recipient does not need to do anything once the deposit is initiated, though bank deposits depend on the banks involved on both sides.

Cash pickup

Your recipient collects the money in person at a payout location. They will need to present acceptable government-issued identification and the transfer reference or control number you share with them. Agent hours and location availability can affect when they are able to collect.

Mobile wallet

Where a mobile-wallet payout to Jamaica is available, your recipient receives funds into a wallet such as GKOne linked to their phone number. Wallet availability for a specific Canada-to-Jamaica transfer is confirmed at checkout, so choose this option only if Coinepay shows it for your transfer. Enter the registered name and phone number carefully.

Step-by-step: sending the transfer

 1. Open Coinepay and start a new transfer. Go to Global Remittance in the dashboard or app and select send money.
 2. Choose the destination and currency. Select Jamaica as the destination country. Pick the payout currency and the method — bank deposit, cash pickup or mobile wallet — from the options shown.
 3. Enter the recipient details. Type the recipient's full legal name and the payout details for the method you chose (account and bank details, phone number, or pickup information). Double-check every character.
 4. Enter the amount. Enter how much you want to send or how much you want your recipient to receive.
 5. Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and all fees clearly before you confirm. Review the amount your recipient will get in JMD.
 6. Provide any requested information. If prompted, add the purpose of the transfer or source-of-funds details. Jamaican payout partners may also ask your recipient for evidence of purpose or source of funds as part of compliance checks.
 7. Confirm and pay. Once you are satisfied, confirm the transfer and fund it from your Coinepay balance or linked funding method.
 8. Track the status. Every transfer has status tracking in the app. Follow it from submitted to paid out, and share the reference number with your recipient if they need it for pickup.

Troubleshooting

Wrong or incomplete recipient details

Incorrect or missing name, address, account, branch or SWIFT details can delay a transfer or cause it to be returned. A mismatch between the account information and the intended recipient's name can lead the receiving bank to reject and return the money. If you spot a mistake, check the transfer status immediately and contact Coinepay support before the payout is completed.

Compliance review

If your transfer is placed under review, it usually means additional verification or screening is in progress. Respond promptly to any request for documents such as the purpose of the transfer or source of funds. Do not attempt to work around checks by splitting the amount or using another person's account.

Delays

Identification or regulatory checks, payout-currency availability, agent opening hours and time-zone differences can all affect timing. Bank deposits also depend on the banks involved at each end. Keep an eye on the status in the app and make sure your recipient's details are complete to avoid hold-ups.

Returned transfers

If a transfer is returned — for example because an account was closed or the details did not match — the status will update in the app. Confirm the correct details with your recipient and reach out to support if you need help re-sending.

Tips for a smooth transfer

 • Ask your recipient to send their bank's exact account instructions rather than guessing codes.
 • Use real, accurate identity and billing details — yours and your recipient's.
 • Keep the reference number handy for cash pickups and status checks.
 • Confirm the payout method is shown for Jamaica at checkout before you commit.
