If someone in Nepal uses eSewa, you may be able to send money directly to their wallet through Coinepay Global Remittance. The key is to choose a wallet payout, enter the recipient’s registered details accurately and review the transfer before confirming it. Here is how to prepare, send and track an eSewa payout from abroad.
What is an eSewa wallet payout?
eSewa is a digital wallet used in Nepal, where wallet balances are denominated in Nepalese rupees (NPR). An international transfer to an eSewa wallet is different from eSewa’s domestic Send Money feature, which moves balance between eSewa accounts. It is also different from a mobile-airtime top-up or a deposit to the recipient’s bank account.
Esewa Money Transfer identifies eSewa Wallet as a payout method through participating international transfer providers. In Coinepay, check the payout methods shown for Nepal. Choose eSewa only if it appears as an available mobile-wallet option for your transfer. If you cannot find it, do not choose a different payout method and assume the money will reach the wallet; contact Coinepay support to ask about the available route.
Get the recipient’s details before you start
Ask the recipient to open their eSewa account and confirm the details they actually registered with the wallet. Do not rely on a number copied from an old message or guess how their name is spelled.
- Registered mobile number or eSewa account ID: Use the identifier requested in Coinepay’s recipient form. For a phone-number field, enter the number registered with eSewa. If the form requests an account ID instead, ask the recipient to confirm the exact ID to use.
- Full registered name: Enter the recipient’s full name exactly as it appears on their verified eSewa account. Check the order and spelling rather than substituting a nickname.
- Address, if requested: Esewa Money Transfer lists the recipient’s wallet name, phone number and address among the details used for a wallet payout. Provide the recipient’s real address if the transfer form asks for it.
The recipient should confirm that their phone number is registered and verified with eSewa. An unverified wallet may not be eligible to receive a remittance into the wallet. Ask them to check their account status in eSewa before you send, particularly if they have recently registered or changed their number.
Use your real identity and accurate transfer details as well. Coinepay transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may request documents explaining the payment’s purpose or source of funds. Neither sender nor recipient should use another person’s wallet to work around a verification or payout requirement.
How to send money to eSewa with Coinepay
- Sign in to Coinepay. Use the Coinepay mobile app or 24/7 self-service dashboard. If you are new, register with Coinepay and complete any identity-verification steps shown for your transfer.
- Start a Global Remittance transfer. Enter the requested sending information and select Nepal as the destination. Check the receiving currency displayed for the route; eSewa is a Nepalese-rupee wallet.
- Choose the payout method. Under the available options for Nepal, select the eSewa mobile-wallet payout if it is offered. Bank deposit and cash pickup are separate methods, so choose the one your recipient intends to use.
- Add the recipient. Enter their registered eSewa phone number or the account ID requested by the form, their full name exactly as registered and any other required details, such as their address. Confirm the information directly with the recipient before continuing.
- Review the quote and recipient. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm a transfer. Read the amount the recipient is expected to receive, the payout method and the recipient details on the review screen. If anything is wrong, go back and correct it before confirming.
- Confirm the transfer. Follow the confirmation steps displayed in Coinepay and keep the transfer reference or confirmation details for your records.
- Track its status. Check the transfer’s status in Coinepay’s app or dashboard. If a review or additional information is requested, respond through the appropriate Coinepay channel rather than starting another transfer without checking what happened to the first.
Available payout methods and requirements can depend on the route and local rules. If eSewa is not offered when you select Nepal, ask Coinepay support about your options before sending.
How does the recipient see the money arrive?
For a direct eSewa Wallet payout, the recipient should check the balance and transaction activity in the eSewa account associated with the registered number you entered. Ask them to sign in to eSewa and inspect their wallet activity after Coinepay’s transfer status indicates that the payout has been completed. They should compare the entry with the amount and other transaction details available to them.
The recipient does not need to initiate eSewa’s domestic Send Money flow to receive a direct wallet payout. They should not treat a message claiming that they must first send money elsewhere as proof that your remittance is waiting.
There is a separate cash-pickup-to-wallet process described by Esewa Money Transfer: a KYC-verified recipient uses Remittance → eSewa Remit and enters a sender-provided 10-digit MTCN/PIN and amount. That is not the same as selecting a direct eSewa wallet payout in Coinepay. Follow the instructions for the payout method you actually selected; do not ask the recipient to enter a code unless your transfer’s instructions call for that process.
Check eSewa verification and wallet capacity
eSewa distinguishes between verified and unverified accounts and publishes different transaction rules for them. Its published wallet-to-wallet receiving rules allow receipts for verified users but list no receiving allowance for unverified users. eSewa also publishes wallet-balance and activity restrictions. These domestic wallet-to-wallet rules should not be assumed to define the limit for an international remittance payout, but they are a reason to check the recipient’s verification status and wallet capacity before sending.
Have the recipient review the current limits and account status in eSewa, especially if they already hold a substantial balance or have received several payments recently. Do not assume that a wallet can retain an incoming amount simply because a transfer can be submitted. If you need to know whether a particular payout amount is eligible, check the options displayed in Coinepay and contact support before confirming. Do not split a transfer or use someone else’s account to bypass a restriction.
Troubleshooting an eSewa payout
Wrong phone number or account ID
If you notice an incorrect identifier before confirming, edit the recipient details. If you have already confirmed, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support immediately with the transfer reference and the information you entered. Do not send a replacement while the original payout remains unresolved. For remittances, Esewa Money Transfer advises contacting the sending provider promptly about cancellation and says a transaction cannot be recalled once paid; a correction or recovery is not assured.
Recipient name does not match
Ask the recipient to check the full name on their verified eSewa account, including spelling and name order. If a transfer has already been submitted, provide the correct details to Coinepay support and follow its instructions. Avoid repeatedly submitting new transfers with variations of the name.
Wallet limit reached or account unverified
Ask the recipient to check their eSewa verification status, wallet balance and applicable account restrictions. They may need to complete eSewa’s own verification steps or address a wallet-capacity issue before an eligible payout can be received. Contact Coinepay support to find out what options apply to the existing transfer; do not assume it will automatically change to bank deposit or cash pickup.
Transfer under compliance review or not visible in eSewa
First, read the status in Coinepay and check whether further information has been requested. A review may involve identity, sanctions or local-regulatory checks, and Coinepay may ask for documents about the purpose or source of funds. If Coinepay shows the payout as complete but the recipient cannot find it, have them check the eSewa account tied to the submitted number, then give Coinepay support the transfer reference and the recipient details for investigation. A missing bank-funded wallet load described in an eSewa FAQ is a different transaction type; its possible causes should not be assumed to explain a missing international payout.
Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions, and transfers to such jurisdictions are not available. If your destination or recipient is ineligible, do not attempt to route the payment through another person or location.

FAQ
What details do I need to send money to an eSewa wallet?
Get the recipient’s registered eSewa phone number or the account ID requested by the form, their full name exactly as registered, and their real address if requested.
Can an unverified eSewa account receive the transfer?
The recipient’s number must be registered and verified with eSewa for a wallet remittance. Ask them to check their account status before you send.
Where can I see the exchange rate and fees?
Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees in the app or dashboard before you confirm the transfer.
Does the recipient need to use Send Money or enter a remittance code?
Not for a direct eSewa Wallet payout. Send Money is eSewa’s domestic transfer feature; entering an MTCN/PIN under Remittance → eSewa Remit is a separate process.
What if I entered the wrong eSewa number?
If you have not confirmed, correct it before sending. If you have confirmed, contact Coinepay support immediately with the transfer reference; a payout that has been paid may not be recallable.
