Sending money home to family or paying a partner in Bangladesh from the United Arab Emirates is one of the most common cross-border transfers made in the Gulf. Coinepay Global Remittance supports transfers to Bangladesh, and this guide walks through what you need, the local payout methods you can choose, and how to confirm and track a transfer from start to finish.
Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees clearly before you confirm, so you always see the details of a transfer in advance. All transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations, and you may be asked about the purpose or source of your funds.
Before you start: what the sender needs
To send money from the UAE to Bangladesh with Coinepay, prepare the following:
- A verified Coinepay account. You must register and complete identity verification (KYC) before you can send. You can create an account and manage everything from the iOS app, the Android app or the web dashboard.
- The recipient's full legal name exactly as it is held by their bank or wallet provider. A name that does not match can cause the payment to be rejected.
- The payout details for the method you choose (see below).
UAE-regulated remittance is subject to identity and beneficiary checks, so requests for your ID and the recipient's information are a normal part of sending. For qualifying cross-border transfers of AED 3,500 or more, sender and beneficiary names and account numbers or references are required by UAE rules, along with specified sender-identification details.
The local currency and payout methods
Bangladesh's local currency is the taka (BDT). Funds are typically delivered to the recipient in taka, including when they are paid into a mobile wallet. Coinepay lets you choose from the main payout methods used in Bangladesh:
Bank account deposit
For a bank payout, you'll need the recipient's name as held by the bank, their account number, and the bank name and branch. A few points specific to Bangladesh:
- No national IBAN. Bangladesh does not have a registered national IBAN format, so use the plain account number the receiving bank issued. Do not substitute a UAE IBAN.
- Account number length varies. There is no single account-number length for all Bangladesh banks, so enter exactly the number supplied by the receiving bank.
- Branch routing number. A Bangladesh branch routing number is nine digits and identifies a bank branch for local processing. It may be requested for a local payout, but it is not a substitute for a SWIFT/BIC when one is required.
- SWIFT/BIC. If a SWIFT transfer is involved, confirm the receiving bank's SWIFT/BIC with that bank directly rather than reusing a code from another branch or institution.
If you are unsure which codes a particular bank needs, ask the receiving bank or check inside the Coinepay app when you enter the recipient.
Mobile wallet
Mobile-wallet delivery is widely used in Bangladesh. Documented wallets include bKash, Nagad, Rocket and UPay; the options available to you depend on Coinepay's payout arrangements, so check the list shown in the app. For a wallet payout you typically need the recipient's registered wallet number and matching full name. For example, a bKash payout requires the recipient's registered bKash account number and a name that matches the account. Under Bangladesh's mobile-financial-services rules, inward remittances are paid into the beneficiary's wallet in taka.
Cash pickup
Cash pickup at a designated bank branch is also a documented option. The recipient collects the funds in person, so they will usually need valid photo identification and any reference number generated for the transfer. Make sure the recipient's name is entered exactly as it appears on the ID they will present.
Step by step: sending the transfer
- Sign in and start a transfer. Open the Coinepay app or dashboard and choose to send money.
- Choose Bangladesh and the payout method. Select Bangladesh as the destination and pick bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup. The currency delivered is taka (BDT).
- Enter the recipient details. Add the recipient's full legal name and the details for the chosen method — account number and branch for a bank deposit, registered wallet number for a wallet, or the recipient's name and ID details for cash pickup.
- Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the rate and fees before you confirm. Check them, along with the amount the recipient will receive, and make sure every detail is correct.
- Confirm. Provide the purpose of the transfer if asked, then confirm. Your transfer is screened as part of normal compliance.
- Track the status. Every transfer has status tracking in the app. Follow it from sent to delivered, and share the reference with your recipient if needed.
What the recipient should expect
Bangladesh collects the purpose of an inward remittance through its banking channels. Note that the older Form-C and Form-C (ICT) have been discontinued under Bangladesh Bank's January 2026 framework, with the transition period for that inward-remittance processing extended to June 30, 2026. When required details and documentation are in place, Bangladesh Bank's stated credit timeline is the same business day for receipts during banking hours and the next business day for later receipts.
Eligible wage-earner remittances sent through legal channels may qualify for a government incentive (reported at 2.5%), but do not assume every incoming payment qualifies — the rules depend on the type of payment and the recipient's situation.
Troubleshooting
Wrong recipient details
A mistyped name or account number is the most common reason a payment is rejected and returned by the receiving bank. Double-check the recipient's name against their bank or wallet records before you confirm. If you spot an error after sending, contact Coinepay support promptly.
Compliance review
Transfers are subject to sanctions screening and transaction monitoring. A new recipient, an unclear payment purpose, missing or inconsistent information, or a flag during monitoring can trigger additional checks. Coinepay may ask for documents such as the purpose or source of funds; providing them quickly helps the review finish sooner. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions.
Delays
Even a clean transfer can take longer because of funding delays, security checks, receiving-bank processing, weekends and public holidays in either country. Check the live status in the app before assuming something is wrong.
Returned transfers
If the receiving bank rejects a payment — for a name mismatch, a closed account or missing required information — the funds are typically returned. Confirm the correct details with your recipient and resend, and reach out to support if you need help.

FAQ
Which payout methods can I use to send money to Bangladesh?
Coinepay supports bank account deposit, mobile wallet (such as bKash, Nagad, Rocket and UPay) and cash pickup at a designated bank branch. The exact options available depend on Coinepay's payout arrangements, so check the list shown in the app when you enter the recipient.
Do I need an IBAN for the recipient's Bangladesh bank account?
No. Bangladesh has no registered national IBAN format. Use the plain account number issued by the receiving bank, along with the bank name and branch. Do not substitute a UAE IBAN. A nine-digit branch routing number or a SWIFT/BIC may also be requested depending on the method.
What currency does my recipient receive?
Funds are delivered in Bangladeshi taka (BDT), including payouts to mobile wallets, which are credited in taka under Bangladesh's rules.
Why might my transfer be delayed or returned?
Common causes include a mistyped recipient name or account number, a new recipient, an unclear payment purpose, missing information, required approvals, or a compliance flag. Weekends, holidays and bank processing can also extend delivery. Respond quickly to any document request and verify details before resending.
Will Coinepay ask for identification or the purpose of the transfer?
Yes. You must complete identity verification before sending, and transfers are subject to sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may ask for the purpose or source of funds, which is a normal part of UAE-regulated cross-border remittance.
