You can get Pixelmator Pro through a one-time Mac purchase or through an Apple Creator Studio subscription. If you want to use a Coinepay virtual card, the key step is adding it to the Apple Account used for checkout: Apple, not a Pixelmator website, handles subscription billing. This guide explains which option to choose, how to set up payment, and what to check if Apple declines the card.
Choose the right way to get Pixelmator Pro
Apple Creator Studio is the subscription route. It includes Pixelmator Pro for Mac and iPad alongside other apps; there is no Pixelmator Pro-only subscription. Choose a monthly or annual subscription based on the options Apple offers in your region. Eligible new subscribers may see a one-month trial, while an eligible new Mac or iPad may qualify for a three-month offer. Check the offer terms shown to your Apple Account before confirming.
Pixelmator Pro for Mac is also available as a separate one-time purchase. It is not a subscription and does not give you the Creator Studio subscription for iPad. At the time of writing (October 2026), Apple listed the US one-time Mac price as $49.99. US Creator Studio standard pricing was $12.99 per month or $129 per year. Prices, taxes and availability can differ by region and change over time, so check Apple’s official Pixelmator Pro and Creator Studio pages and the final checkout screen.
Apple also offers Education Monthly and Education Annual Creator Studio plans for verified higher-education students and educators. At the time of writing (October 2026), US education pricing was $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year. Eligibility must be verified, and the education subscription cannot be shared with a Family Sharing group.
Before paying, check device requirements. The Creator Studio version of Pixelmator Pro requires macOS 26 or iPadOS 26 and a supported iPad for iPad use. The separately purchased Mac version has different requirements. Apple’s app and subscription availability can also vary by country or region; a card cannot make an unavailable regional offering available.
What you need before checkout
- A verified Coinepay account: Register for Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Your virtual card’s number, expiry date and CVV are available after issuance in Coinepay’s self-service dashboard or mobile app.
- An Apple Account: Use your own account, with its country or region set according to your genuine circumstances. Apple determines which payment methods are available for that account region.
- Your real billing details: Enter details that match the records associated with your payment method. Do not substitute an address in another country to try to pass regional or billing checks.
- Enough available funds: Allow for the amount Apple shows at checkout, including any applicable taxes. If a trial is offered, check the displayed renewal price and date as well.
- A compatible device and available offer: Confirm that the version you want works on your Mac or iPad and is offered in your Apple Account region.
Apple lists most credit and debit cards among its Apple Account payment options in several markets, but the available methods differ by region. Adding a virtual card does not guarantee Apple will accept it for a particular account or purchase. Check Apple’s payment-method information for your region and ask Coinepay support if you need help checking your card before you buy.
Step by step: pay for an Apple Creator Studio subscription
- Prepare your Coinepay card. Sign in to the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app and locate the virtual card you intend to use. Copy its card number, expiry date and CVV carefully. Check its available funds and any applicable card settings in Coinepay before starting checkout.
- Open the subscription flow. Download a Creator Studio app from the App Store on a compatible device. Open Pixelmator Pro or another included app and follow its Apple Creator Studio subscription prompts. Sign in with the Apple Account you want Apple to bill.
- Choose the offer. Review the monthly or annual option presented to you, or the trial if you are eligible. If you qualify for an education plan, choose See All Plans → Education Monthly or Education Annual → Verify Eligibility, then complete Apple’s verification steps. Apple requires a valid payment method on the account.
- Add or review your payment method. On a Mac, open the App Store, select your name at the lower left, then go to Account Settings → Payment Methods. On iPad, go to Settings → your name → Payment & Shipping. Enter the Coinepay card details and your real billing information as requested. Follow any verification prompt from Apple or the card issuer.
- Review and confirm with Apple. Check the plan, trial terms if applicable, renewal amount, taxes and payment method displayed by Apple. Confirm only when the details are correct. Apple bills your selected Apple Account payment method; if it cannot charge the primary method, its terms allow it to try other eligible methods on your account. Review your payment-method order if you have more than one.
If you prefer the separate one-time Mac purchase, choose the Pixelmator Pro for Mac purchase option rather than an Apple Creator Studio subscription. Review the version, device requirements and final amount before confirming Apple’s purchase flow. A one-time purchase will not turn into a Creator Studio subscription simply because the same card is saved to your Apple Account.
Why was my card declined?
A decline does not by itself identify the cause. Work through these checks rather than repeatedly submitting unchanged details:
- Insufficient available funds: Compare the funds available to the full amount Apple displays, including applicable taxes. For a subscription, plan ahead for renewals after any trial. Check your Coinepay dashboard or app for your current card and funding information.
- Billing-address mismatch: Recheck the name, address and other details entered for the Apple Account payment method against your genuine billing records. Correct typing mistakes; do not use an invented address or another region’s address.
- Verification or 3-D Secure step not completed: Some payment methods require issuer verification. If a verification screen appears, complete it as instructed and return to checkout. If the step fails or never arrives, contact Coinepay support with the time and wording of the error. Do not assume every Apple card payment uses the same verification flow.
- Apple Account region or merchant checks: Apple’s accepted payment methods and Creator Studio availability depend on the Apple Account country or region. Confirm that the subscription is offered for your account and that the card can be used for the transaction. If you are unsure whether your card meets a regional or payment-method requirement, contact Coinepay support before buying. Do not change your account details to misrepresent your location.
- An unpaid Apple order: Apple’s messages “billing problem with a previous purchase” or “verification required” can indicate an unpaid Apple Account balance that blocks new purchases or subscriptions. Resolve that balance in your Apple Account, then try again.
If Apple still declines the payment, its guidance is to try another eligible payment method or contact the financial institution for the reason, including whether an international purchase needs enabling. Coinepay support can help you investigate your card. Share the error text and relevant transaction details, but never send your full card number or CVV in an unsecured message.
Manage renewals, cancellation and refunds
On Mac, open Pixelmator Pro and choose Pixelmator Pro → Manage Subscriptions. The App Store opens, where you can change or cancel Apple Creator Studio. On iPad, use Pixelmator Pro → Manage Subscriptions for the plan, or Settings → your name → Payment & Shipping to update payment details. Changing a card in Coinepay alone does not cancel an Apple subscription.
Creator Studio renews automatically until cancelled. Apple advises cancelling at least a day before renewal, and at least 24 hours before a trial ends if you do not want it to renew. Access during an already-paid billing period continues until that period ends. Cancellation is not a refund: for an eligible App Store purchase, use Apple’s reportaproblem.apple.com service and select Request a refund. Eligibility varies by country or region, subject to applicable consumer rights.
If you have an education subscription, Apple requests student-status reverification once a year. If you no longer qualify, the education subscription renews as a standard subscription. Check its renewal details in Apple’s subscription settings so you know which amount Apple plans to charge.

FAQ
Is there a Pixelmator Pro-only subscription?
No. The subscription option is Apple Creator Studio, which includes Pixelmator Pro and other apps. Pixelmator Pro for Mac is also sold separately as a one-time purchase.
Where do I add my Coinepay card for Pixelmator Pro?
For an Apple Creator Studio subscription, add it to your Apple Account payment methods: App Store → your name → Account Settings → Payment Methods on Mac, or Settings → your name → Payment & Shipping on iPad.
What does Apple’s “verification required” message mean?
It can indicate an unpaid Apple Account balance. Check and resolve any outstanding Apple order before trying the purchase again.
Will cancelling Apple Creator Studio refund my last payment?
No. Cancellation stops future renewal; it is not a refund request. If your purchase is eligible, request a refund through Apple’s reportaproblem.apple.com service.
