Vercel is a cloud platform for deploying and hosting front-end projects and serverless functions. If you want to move from the free Hobby tier to a paid plan, you need a valid payment method on file. This guide explains how to prepare a Coinepay virtual card, sign up for Vercel, add the card at checkout, and troubleshoot the most common reasons a card is declined.
Before you start: what you need
To subscribe to a paid Vercel plan you will need:
- A Vercel account (created with an email address and a six-digit one-time code, or by authorizing GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket).
- A Coinepay account that has completed identity verification (KYC). You can register here and manage everything from the iOS app, the Android app, or the web dashboard.
- A Coinepay virtual card with its card number, expiry date and CVV, which are shown instantly in your dashboard after issuance.
- Your real billing address, exactly as it is registered to your Coinepay account.
Services are provided through licensed partner institutions and are not available in every jurisdiction; virtual-asset-related services are not offered to residents of mainland China. Vercel's own terms also require that you are not a sanctions target, and Coinepay screens all customers against sanctions lists.
Understand Vercel's plans and prices
Vercel's account plans are Hobby, Pro, and Enterprise. At the time of writing (October 2026), Vercel's pricing page lists Hobby at US$0/month, Pro at US$20/month, and Enterprise as a custom quote. The Pro platform fee includes one deploying seat and US$20 of monthly usage credit; extra Owner or Member seats and usage beyond the included amounts can add charges. Always confirm the current numbers on Vercel's official pricing page, since prices and included usage can change.
Prices are published in USD and exclude applicable taxes, which Vercel calculates from your billing address. Local-currency checkout totals depend on your card issuer's conversion, so the exact amount in your own currency is not fixed in advance. Pro supports monthly payment only; Enterprise can be billed annually with contract-dependent intervals.
Recent billing changes to be aware of: Flat Rate CDN became generally available for Pro on September 8, 2026 (on by default for new Pro teams, with higher-capacity tiers at US$20, US$100, or US$300 per month), and on October 9, 2026 Vercel announced Deployment Storage and Functions Storage billing for existing Pro teams at US$0.10/GB-month.
Important: Vercel's card policy for Pro
Vercel's Pro billing documentation states that it accepts credit and debit cards, and lists gift cards, prepaid cards, EBT cards, and some virtual cards as examples of invalid payment methods. The listed card networks are American Express, China UnionPay, Discover/Diners, JCB, Mastercard, and Visa, and your issuer must permit a USD charge after conversion.
Because Vercel flags "some virtual cards" as invalid, do not assume any particular card will be accepted. Before you upgrade, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets Vercel's requirement for USD charges. Keep your expectations realistic: whether a specific merchant accepts a specific card is decided at checkout by Vercel and its payment processor.
Step-by-step: subscribe to Vercel Pro
- Create or log in to your Vercel account. Use your email and the six-digit code, or sign in with your Git provider.
- Create a team. Pro billing in Vercel is tied to a team. From the dashboard, create a team and, if you are eligible, you can select Pro Trial. The trial lasts 14 days or until its usage limits are reached and is limited to one per user account.
- Add your payment method. Select the team, then go to Settings → Billing. If you are on a trial, adding a card here means billing starts automatically when the trial ends; a trial left without a payment method reverts to Hobby with no trial charge. Hobby users can also upgrade to Pro directly from the dashboard.
- Issue and enter your Coinepay card. In the Coinepay app, create a virtual card and copy its number, expiry date and CVV. Enter these on Vercel's billing form.
- Enter your billing address. Use the real address registered to your Coinepay account so the details match what your issuer has on file.
- Complete any verification. If your card requires 3-D Secure, approve the prompt in the Coinepay app or via the confirmation method tied to your account.
- Confirm and review. After the card is saved, Vercel charges the card on file automatically. Pro invoices charge the upcoming cycle at its start and include additional usage from the preceding cycle. You can find past invoices under Settings → Invoices.
Make sure your Coinepay card has enough balance before Vercel attempts the charge. For Pro, an unsuccessful initial payment must be resolved within 24 hours, and after a failed renewal, deployments are paused if payment is not made within 14 days.
Troubleshooting a declined card
Vercel does not publish exact on-screen wording for each decline, but it identifies expired cards, issuer declines, incorrect card details, lost/stolen cards, and a missing or removed card as reasons a Pro account can become overdue. Work through these common causes:
Insufficient balance
Confirm your Coinepay card has enough available balance to cover the plan fee plus any applicable tax and currency conversion. Top up in the app and retry.
Billing address mismatch
Re-enter the billing address exactly as it appears on your Coinepay account. A mismatch between the address you type and the one your issuer expects is a frequent cause of declines.
3-D Secure not completed
If an authentication prompt appears, approve it promptly in the Coinepay app. An unapproved or timed-out 3-D Secure challenge will stop the charge.
Card details entered incorrectly
Double-check the card number, expiry date and CVV against what is shown in your Coinepay dashboard. One wrong digit will cause an "incorrect card details" type of decline.
Virtual-card or network restriction
Because Vercel lists "some virtual cards" as invalid for Pro, a decline may reflect that policy rather than a problem with your balance. There are community reports (for example on September 29, 2026) of cards being declined when upgrading to Pro even though they worked for domain purchases; the underlying cause is not confirmed. If your card is repeatedly declined, reach out to Coinepay support to confirm the card is configured for USD online payments, and review Vercel's accepted networks. Do not try to disguise your location or details to bypass a merchant check.
Regional checks
Vercel does not publish a single country-by-country card-acceptance list, and its terms require that you are not a sanctions target. Use your real identity and real billing country. If you are unsure whether your region is supported, confirm with Vercel directly.
Managing, changing, or canceling your plan
To change the card on a Pro team, select the team, then go to Settings → Billing → Payment Method → Add new card, and add the replacement before removing the old card. To stop paying, a Pro team can use Settings → Billing → Downgrade Plan; cancellation or downgrade takes effect at the next renewal, and self-service subscriptions renew automatically unless canceled beforehand. Vercel's terms state fees are generally non-refundable except where expressly provided. Deleting a team also cancels its subscription but permanently removes team data, so transfer any projects or domains and download your invoices first.

FAQ
Can I use a Coinepay virtual card to pay for Vercel Pro?
Vercel's Pro billing docs accept credit and debit cards but list gift cards, prepaid cards, EBT cards and some virtual cards as invalid examples, and whether a specific card works is decided at checkout. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card is set up for USD online charges before you upgrade.
How much does Vercel Pro cost?
At the time of writing (October 2026), Vercel's pricing page lists Pro at US$20/month, which includes one deploying seat and US$20 in monthly usage credit. Extra seats and usage can add charges, and prices exclude taxes based on your billing address. Check Vercel's official pricing page for current figures.
Where do I add or change my payment card in Vercel?
Select your team, then go to Settings → Billing. To change a Pro card, open Payment Method → Add new card and add the replacement before removing the old one. Past invoices appear under Settings → Invoices.
Why was my card declined when upgrading to Vercel Pro?
Common causes are insufficient balance, a billing address mismatch, an unapproved 3-D Secure prompt, mistyped card details, or Vercel's restriction on some virtual cards. Verify each in the Coinepay app and contact support if the card keeps being declined.
What happens if my Vercel payment fails?
For Pro, an unsuccessful initial payment must be resolved within 24 hours. After a failed renewal, your deployments are paused if payment is not made within 14 days, so keep enough balance on your Coinepay card before each billing cycle.
