SiteGround is a web-hosting provider whose plans are billed on an automatic yearly or monthly cycle. If you prefer to keep hosting payments separate from your main bank card, a Coinepay virtual card gives you an instant card number, expiry date and CVV you can use at checkout. This guide walks through what you need, how the SiteGround order and verification flow works, and how to troubleshoot a declined payment.
Before you start
To pay for SiteGround with a Coinepay virtual card, line up a few things first:
- A verified Coinepay account. Register at Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC) before you try to create a card. You can manage everything from the 24/7 dashboard or the Coinepay app for iOS and Android.
- A funded card with enough balance. SiteGround bills the full prepaid term up front (for example a 12-month plan), so your balance needs to cover the whole initial charge plus any applicable tax, not one month.
- Your real billing details. Use the name and billing address that match your Coinepay account. Accurate details reduce the chance of a mismatch decline.
- Your phone handy. SiteGround may route an order to fraud verification that asks for a phone code and a card check.
SiteGround lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover credit cards as accepted and notes that available methods vary by region; it does not confirm acceptance of every debit-card type, and no provider can promise a specific merchant will accept a specific card. If you are unsure, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card details before you buy.
Choose your SiteGround plan
Pick the plan that fits your project before checkout, because the price you see depends on the plan, the billing term and your region:
- Shared web hosting: StartUp, GrowBig and GoGeek. The same three tiers appear on SiteGround's WordPress-hosting pages.
- Managed cloud hosting: Jump Start, Business, Business Plus and Super Power, plus a configurable custom cloud.
- Reseller hosting: offered as GrowBig, GoGeek and Cloud.
Shared plans are typically advertised at a low introductory rate for a 12-month prepaid term, with a higher renewal rate afterwards. At the time of writing (October 2026) SiteGround's USD page showed StartUp at $3.99, GrowBig at $6.69 and GoGeek at $10.69 per month on a 12-month initial term, renewing at $17.99, $29.99 and $44.99 per month; euro, UK and Australian pages showed different figures excluding VAT or GST. Regional offers change, so always confirm the current price, term and renewal rate on SiteGround's official site before you commit. Note that for US customers, sales tax may be added based on your primary address and state rules.
Step by step: order and pay
- Create a Coinepay virtual card. In the Coinepay dashboard or app, issue a card and copy the card number, expiry date and CVV. Make sure the balance covers the full initial term plus tax.
- Start your SiteGround order. As a new customer, choose a hosting plan and follow its order flow. If you already have an account, buy an additional plan through Client Area → Marketplace, selecting the plan type and billing period.
- Set your billing period. Longer prepaid terms usually carry the lowest monthly rate. Review the total you will actually be charged today.
- Enter your account and billing details. Use your real name and the billing address tied to your Coinepay account.
- Enter the card details. Type the Coinepay card number, expiry and CVV carefully. Mistyped digits are one of the most common reasons a charge fails.
- Complete any verification. If your order is selected for fraud verification, SiteGround can ask for a phone code and a card verification. The purchase amount is pre-authorized while this is pending; SiteGround says authorizations from an unsuccessful verification are released within 10 working days.
- Confirm and check the receipt. After payment, set up your site using a new, existing or temporary domain through SiteGround's wizard, which can also create a new site or migrate an existing one.
When you add or update a card, SiteGround may place a temporary authorization check of 1 USD/EUR/AUD. It states this is not a completed payment. You may briefly see this hold in your Coinepay transaction list before it clears.
Manage billing and renewals
Shared and cloud hosting use automatic recurring billing by default. SiteGround renews plans of 12 months or longer 15 days before expiry and monthly plans 5 days before expiry, so keep enough balance on your Coinepay card ahead of those dates if you want renewal to go through.
- Update or replace your saved card: Client Area → Billing → Billing Details.
- Find invoices and past payments: Billing → Payment History.
- Turn automatic renewal on or off: Services → Hosting → Settings → Renewal Settings.
If you ever want to stop service, cancel at Client Area → Services → Hosting → Settings → three-dot menu → Cancel, then choose immediately or at expiration. Separately registered domains and related services stay active. Initial shared-hosting orders qualify for a full refund within 30 days of activation and initial cloud orders within 14 days, subject to SiteGround's conditions; domain fees, paid support and third-party services are excluded, and a promotional "free" domain can become payable if you cancel hosting.
Troubleshooting a declined card
SiteGround lists mistyped card details, an expired card, bank blocks on online or cross-border purchases, and per-transaction card limits among the common reasons a payment fails, and it directs customers to their bank for the specific decline reason. Work through these checks:
Insufficient balance
Confirm your Coinepay balance covers the full initial term plus tax, not a single month. Top up in the Coinepay app and try again.
Billing address mismatch
Make sure the billing name and address on SiteGround match the details on your Coinepay account exactly. A mismatch can trigger a decline even when funds are available.
3-D Secure or card verification
If SiteGround routes your order to verification, complete the phone-code and card-check steps promptly. SiteGround notes a verification amount may look different because your bank account and SiteGround profile use different currencies; if a verification is not completed successfully, the order can be cancelled and the hold released within 10 working days.
Cross-border or merchant region checks
Some banks block international charges by default, and SiteGround has at times restricted new sign-ups from certain regions. If a decline persists, check that your card is cleared for online, cross-border purchases in Coinepay, and review SiteGround's current regional availability for your country on its official site.
Still failing?
If you see a generic "unable to charge" message, avoid re-submitting repeatedly, since that can stack authorization holds. Check your Coinepay transaction list, then contact Coinepay support to confirm the charge status and that your card is set up for this type of purchase. For order-specific questions, SiteGround's own support can explain why a payment was not accepted.
A note on availability
Coinepay card and fund services require registration and identity verification, are provided through licensed partner financial institutions, and are not available in every jurisdiction; virtual-asset-related services are not available to residents of mainland China. Use your real identity and billing information throughout, and start by creating your account at Coinepay.
