Looking for a SHOWTIME subscription? The standalone SHOWTIME streaming service shut down on April 30, 2024. In the U.S., you now sign up through Paramount+ to watch the SHOWTIME shows and movies offered there. This guide explains which plan to choose, how to enter your Coinepay virtual card at direct web checkout, and what to check if a payment fails.

Choose the right Paramount+ plan for SHOWTIME

For a U.S. subscription, choose Paramount+ Premium if your goal is the SHOWTIME shows and movies offered on Paramount+. Paramount+ Essential includes ads and only select SHOWTIME titles. You may still see the older name “Paramount+ with SHOWTIME” on older pages, but it is not the current U.S. streaming-tier name. Check the current Paramount+ plan descriptions and title availability before paying, particularly if there is one show you want to watch.

At the time of writing (October 2026), U.S. prices are US$8.99 per month or US$89.99 per year for Essential, and US$13.99 per month or US$139.99 per year for Premium, plus applicable taxes. Prices and offers can change; check the official Paramount+ pricing page for the amount you will actually be charged.

Plans and catalogs vary by country. For example, Paramount+ lists Basic with Ads, Standard and Premium in the UK, rather than the U.S. Essential and Premium lineup. A U.S. subscription does not mean the same programming will be available elsewhere: licensing affects catalogs, and the U.S. terms restrict access when travelling outside the territory covered by those terms. Subscribe only where the service is offered to you under its terms, using your real account and billing details.

What you need before checkout

  • A Coinepay account and virtual card: register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Your issued virtual card provides a card number, expiry date and CVV, which you can view in the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard.
  • Enough available funds: allow for the plan price and any applicable taxes. Check your available balance in Coinepay before submitting payment, and keep enough available for later renewals.
  • A Paramount+ account: have an email address you can access and be ready to provide accurate account and billing information.
  • The correct billing route: these steps cover a subscription purchased directly on the Paramount+ website. A subscription bought through Amazon, Apple, Google Play, Roku or another supported partner is billed by that provider instead.

Paramount+ payment options depend on location and how you subscribe. Its payment guidance names Visa and Mastercard for web sign-up, with some additional methods in particular countries. Check the options shown at your checkout rather than assuming that a virtual card will be accepted. If the checkout states a specific card-type or issuing-country requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets it before you buy.

How to sign up and pay on the Paramount+ website

  1. Open the official Paramount+ website. Select the option to sign up, or sign in if you already have an account. Do not use an old standalone SHOWTIME subscription page: that service has closed.
  2. Choose a plan. In the U.S., compare Essential with Premium and select Premium if you want the SHOWTIME shows and movies offered on Paramount+. Review whether you are choosing monthly or annual billing and check the checkout total.
  3. Create your account or sign in. Follow the prompts using your real information. If you already subscribe through an app store or partner, first check who bills your existing subscription so you do not inadvertently start a second one.
  4. Enter payment information. In the Coinepay app or dashboard, find your virtual card’s number, expiry date and CVV. Enter those details in the Paramount+ payment form. If a billing address is requested, use your genuine billing information and review it for typos.
  5. Review and submit. Check the plan, billing interval, displayed amount and renewal terms. When you are ready, select “Agree & Subscribe” and follow any additional payment-verification prompts that appear.
  6. Confirm the result. Wait for the Paramount+ confirmation before assuming the subscription is active. Check your account and the Coinepay transaction view. If checkout fails, avoid repeated rapid attempts; use the troubleshooting steps below first.

If you sign up inside an app or through a device or partner, its billing platform may present different payment choices and screens. In that case, follow the billing provider’s instructions rather than expecting the direct-web “Agree & Subscribe” flow.

How to update the card or manage your subscription

For a directly billed subscription, sign in at paramountplus.com/account. You can also open the profile menu, choose Account, then select Edit Payment Information to update your card details. If you replace a card or its expiry date changes, update the payment method before the next renewal and verify that the change was saved.

If Amazon, Apple, Google Play or Roku bills your subscription, change the payment method with that provider. The same distinction matters for cancellation: cancel a direct subscription through paramountplus.com/account before renewal, or cancel a third-party-billed subscription with the third party. Paid access ordinarily continues through the current billing period after cancellation. Under the U.S. terms, cancellation ordinarily does not refund fees already paid, subject to stated exceptions such as applicable legal entitlements or correction of a direct-billing overcharge. Third-party refunds follow that provider’s terms.

What to check if your card is declined

A failed payment does not, by itself, identify the cause. Paramount+ says an expired or declined payment method and insufficient funds can cause payment failure; its terms also describe insufficient gift-card credit as a possible issue. It may retry a charge and suspend access while waiting for a valid payment method. Work through the checks that match your situation:

  • Insufficient balance: compare your available Coinepay balance with the full checkout amount, including any tax. If you were relying on U.S. Paramount+ gift-card credit, check whether enough credit remains and whether an associated payment method will be charged when it runs out.
  • Card details or billing address: re-enter the card number, expiry and CVV exactly as displayed in Coinepay. Check the month and year fields separately, and make sure any billing address is your real, correctly entered information. An incorrect address may contribute to a failed payment check, but only the billing provider can establish the reason for a particular decline.
  • Payment authentication: if checkout asks for an additional verification step, complete the prompt without closing it. If a verification step does not appear or does not finish, do not assume that 3-D Secure is the confirmed cause. Check the transaction status and ask Coinepay support for help with the attempted payment.
  • Merchant or region checks: confirm you are using the Paramount+ site and plan intended for your actual location and that your billing details are accurate. Availability, payment options and programming differ by country. A virtual card does not override Paramount+ eligibility rules or regional restrictions.
  • Who bills you: if you subscribed through an app store or partner, check the card and any decline notice in that provider’s payment settings. Changing the card under a directly billed Paramount+ account will not update a separate provider’s billing method.

You might encounter messages such as “Exp. MM is invalid”, “Exp. YY is invalid” or “We're unable to change your plan right now. Please try again in a few minutes.” These messages have been reported by users, but they do not establish a specific cause. Check the fields or account state indicated, then contact the relevant billing provider if the problem persists.

If the Coinepay transaction view shows an issue you cannot resolve, contact Coinepay support with the attempted amount, time and any error text. Do not send your full card number or CVV in a support message. For a Paramount+ account, plan or checkout error, contact Paramount+ or the third party that bills your subscription.
