Sentry is an error-tracking and performance-monitoring platform used by developers to catch bugs in production. If you want to move from the free tier to a paid plan, you need a payment card on file. This guide walks through subscribing to Sentry and paying with a Coinepay virtual card, then covers the most common reasons a card is declined and how to resolve them.
What you need before you start
Sentry bills paid plans through Stripe, so a smooth checkout depends on having the right details ready:
- A verified Coinepay account. You must register and complete identity verification (KYC) before your virtual card is active. If you haven't yet, create your account and finish verification first.
- Your Coinepay virtual card details. Coinepay issues a virtual card with an instant card number, expiry date and CVV, all visible in the Coinepay app or dashboard.
- Enough balance on the card to cover the plan's base fee plus any pay-as-you-go usage you choose to enable.
- Your real billing information. Use the name and billing address tied to your Coinepay card. Accurate details help the address check at checkout succeed.
- A Sentry role with billing rights. Only an Owner or Billing member can manage the subscription and card on file.
Sentry publicly supports Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Discover and Diners Club credit cards. Coinepay does not publish its card network or issuing details here, so if a card type restriction matters to you, check your card details in the Coinepay app and contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the requirement before you buy.
Sentry plans at a glance
Sentry's hosted plans are Developer, Team, Business and Enterprise. Developer is free; Enterprise pricing requires a sales quote and can use invoicing instead of a card.
| Plan | Who it's for | Payment |
|---|---|---|
| Developer | Solo use, one member | Free |
| Team | Small teams | Card on file |
| Business | Larger teams, advanced features | Card on file |
| Enterprise | Custom needs | Sales quote / invoicing |
At the time of writing (October 2026), Sentry's September 2026 help material lists the Team base fee at $29/month and the Business base fee at $89/month when billed monthly. Prices vary by region and billing cycle, and these figures can change, so always confirm the current amount on Sentry's official pricing page before you confirm checkout. There is also a 14-day Business trial you can start before committing.
Step-by-step: subscribe and pay
- Create or open your organization. New users start at sentry.io/signup. If you already have an account, use Switch Organization → Create New Organization, or stay in your existing org.
- Open the billing area. Go to Organization Settings → Usage & Billing → Subscription. Existing customers can also use Manage Plan to review upgrade pricing and checkout.
- Choose your plan and billing cycle. Select Team or Business, then pick monthly or yearly billing. Checkout shows the amount you'll be charged and asks you to verify and confirm the change.
- Decide on pay-as-you-go. Paid plans can incur charges beyond the base fee when usage exceeds included quotas. This option is typically enabled during checkout but can be disabled there if you want to cap spending to the base subscription.
- Enter your Coinepay card. In Edit billing information, type your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV, then enter the billing name and address exactly as held by Coinepay.
- Complete 3-D Secure if prompted. Your card issuer may show a one-time code or an app approval. Approve it to finish authentication.
- Confirm. Review the total and submit. Your plan activates and the card is saved as the single payment card on file.
Note that Team and Business organizations can keep only one payment card on file; splitting a single charge across two cards is not supported. If you use Sentry's newer Stripe Projects CLI route to create an organization, paid plans there use your existing Stripe payment method rather than a separate Sentry billing setup.
Troubleshooting a declined card
If your Coinepay card is declined, work through these common causes.
Insufficient balance
Sentry charges the base fee immediately, and pay-as-you-go usage can add to later bills. Make sure your Coinepay card holds enough to cover the full amount shown at checkout. Top up in the Coinepay app and try again.
Billing address mismatch
Stripe checks the billing details you enter against what your issuer has on record. Enter the exact name and address associated with your Coinepay card. A mismatch is a frequent cause of silent declines, so correct any typo in the postal code or address line and retry.
3-D Secure authentication not completed
Sentry notes that a card which fails to stay on file may have incomplete 3D Secure authentication. Complete the bank-app prompt or one-time code when it appears. If authentication keeps failing, Sentry advises checking with your issuer or trying another card. With Coinepay, confirm how authentication prompts reach you in the app, then repeat checkout.
Merchant region checks
Sentry screens for sanctions compliance. It has blocked access from Russia, terminated affected Russia-based paid accounts and stopped accepting Russian customers' payments, effective September 2024; other restrictions may apply. Use your real identity and real billing details—never try to work around a region check. Likewise, Coinepay screens all customers against sanctions lists and does not serve residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions.
A recurring charge failed
If a renewal payment is declined, Sentry retries on days 3, 8 and 15 after the first attempt. To pay sooner, an Owner or Billing member can open the unpaid receipt and select Pay Now. Make sure your Coinepay card has enough balance before the retry runs.
Managing your subscription
To change billing, go back to Organization Settings → Usage & Billing → Subscription → Edit billing information. To switch between monthly and yearly, use the checkout under Manage Plan.
To cancel a plan bought directly from Sentry, an Owner or Billing member uses Settings → Subscription → Manage Plan → Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle, after which the organization returns to the free one-member Developer plan. Pay-as-you-go usage accrued before the cycle ends can still appear on your next bill. Refunds are not automatic—Sentry treats them as approval-dependent exceptions and verifies account ownership for requests about the latest invoice.
Keeping your card topped up
Because Sentry charges recurring fees and variable usage, monitor your Coinepay balance so renewals don't fail. You can track your card activity and top up anytime from the Coinepay dashboard or the mobile app for iOS and Android, available 24/7. If you run into a card issue you can't resolve, reach Coinepay support or our Telegram channel.
