Semrush is a marketing and SEO toolkit used for keyword research, site audits, competitor analysis and AI-search visibility. If you manage your subscriptions with a Coinepay virtual card, this guide walks you through what you need, how the sign-up and checkout work, and how to read the most common card-declined messages so you can act on them.

Before you start: an important note on virtual cards

Semrush's own billing FAQ states that some payments cannot be completed with virtual cards. When this happens, you may see the message "Sorry, the credit card you entered cannot be used for this payment. Please provide a different card", and Semrush lists virtual cards as one possible cause. In other words, Semrush may not accept a virtual card for a given checkout, and whether any particular card is accepted is decided by Semrush and its payment processor, not by Coinepay.

Because of this, treat the steps below as the correct process rather than a promise of approval. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card is suitable before you buy, and have a backup payment method ready in case Semrush declines the card for this payment.

What you need before checkout

  • A verified Coinepay account. You must register and complete identity verification (KYC) before using card services. You can create your account and manage everything from the dashboard or the mobile app (iOS and Google Play).
  • A Coinepay virtual card, with its card number, expiry date and CVV ready in the app.
  • Enough available balance to cover the plan you choose. Annual subscriptions on Semrush are paid upfront in a single charge, not monthly, so the first charge can be large.
  • Your real billing details — name, address and country — that match the information on your Coinepay profile. In Brazil, Semrush requires a valid CPF or CNPJ in billing information to process payment.
  • A Semrush account. Account creation is free; billing details are only required when you subscribe to a paid plan.

Check that Semrush is available in your region

Semrush's terms restrict provision of its services in certain locations, including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Russia, Belarus, Crimea and the specified Donetsk and Luhansk regions, among other sanctions-related restrictions. Separately, Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of comprehensively sanctioned jurisdictions, and some Coinepay services are not available in every jurisdiction. Note that a country appearing in Semrush's search-data coverage does not mean you can purchase a subscription from there.

Step-by-step: subscribe to Semrush with a Coinepay card

  1. Create or log in to your Semrush account on semrush.com using your real details.
  2. Open the pricing page for SEO + AI Search. At the time of writing (October 2026) the page lists Free, SEO, Starter, Pro+ and Advanced tiers, with Semrush for Enterprise available on custom pricing. The Free tier is listed at $0/month and does not require a card. Always confirm current plan names and prices on the official Semrush pricing page, as these change and vary by region.
  3. Choose monthly or annual billing. Annual plans are billed upfront for the full term. For reference, US-dollar prices observed on October 13, 2026 were SEO $139/month (or $117.33/month billed annually), Starter $199 ($165.17), Pro+ $299 ($248.17) and Advanced $549 ($455.67). Euro-rendered prices were also shown, but these are not confirmed quotes for every country — your checkout currency and final amount can depend on your location.
  4. Select Try for free or Subscribe for the plan you want. Semrush lists a seven-day trial, after which the selected plan is charged unless you cancel beforehand.
  5. Enter your card and billing details. Semrush lists Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express as accepted card brands. Type your Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV exactly as shown in the app, and enter the billing address that matches your Coinepay profile.
  6. Complete any verification. A $1 or equivalent authorization may appear when your card details are checked; Semrush says this is not a charge. If a 3-D Secure confirmation is triggered, approve it in your Coinepay app or follow the prompt.
  7. Confirm and save the subscription. After a successful charge, your plan activates.

Managing billing after you subscribe

Open My Profile → Subscription info → Billing info to view or change your payment method; edit Current Card there while recurring billing is active. The Payments tab holds your transaction history and downloadable invoice PDFs. If your card is close to expiry, update it before the next renewal — Semrush warns that a subsequent payment may fail on an expiring card. Note that US checks and worldwide wire transfers are only offered for eligible annual subscriptions, subject to account value and Support confirmation, and are not ordinary self-service card-checkout options.

Troubleshooting common card declines

"The credit card you entered cannot be used for this payment"

This is the message Semrush shows when a card is not accepted for that payment, and it names virtual cards as one possible cause. If you see it, the payment cannot be completed with that card. Use an alternative accepted payment method, and reach out to Coinepay support to confirm whether your card is suitable before trying again.

Insufficient balance

Semrush lists insufficient funds as a common failed-transaction reason. Remember that annual plans charge the full term at once. Top up your Coinepay card so the available balance comfortably covers the plan price plus any temporary $1 authorization, then retry.

Billing address or details mismatch

If the name, address or country you entered does not match your card records, the payment can be rejected. Use the exact billing details tied to your Coinepay card. In Brazil, make sure a valid CPF or CNPJ is entered — without it, payment processing will not complete.

3-D Secure or bank rejection

Semrush also lists cards that disallow online or international payments, and bank rejections, as reasons a transaction fails. If a 3-D Secure step appears, complete it promptly in your Coinepay app. If the charge is still declined, check your Coinepay app for any transaction limits or controls and confirm the card is enabled for online and international payments.

Merchant region checks

If checkout blocks you based on location, review the regional restrictions above. Never use a VPN, a false address or any workaround to bypass a merchant's regional or payment checks — doing so can breach Semrush's terms and put your account at risk.

Cancellations and refunds

For qualifying online subscriptions, submit the logged-in cancellation form, answer its questions, and click the emailed confirmation link (valid for 24 hours). Cancellation can be requested anytime but generally takes effect at the end of the committed term, not immediately. Semrush's one-time, seven-day money-back guarantee applies to eligible initial commitments of at least 12 months and initial add-on purchases bought directly on Semrush.com by credit card; month-to-month subscriptions are excluded. Request a refund in writing within seven calendar days and state it explicitly in the cancellation or contact form. Eligible refunds are processed within 30 calendar days back to the original payment method.
