To buy a Screaming Frog licence, choose the application you need, set up your Coinepay virtual card, and enter its details at Screaming Frog’s online checkout. This guide covers the purchase steps for SEO Spider and Log File Analyser, plus what to check if your payment is declined. Card acceptance is determined at checkout.
Choose the Screaming Frog licence you need
Screaming Frog SEO Spider is a website-crawling application. Its Free version lets you crawl up to 500 URLs at a time without signing up. The Paid Version removes that crawl limit and adds features. Screaming Frog Log File Analyser is a separate application with its own licence: its Free Version is limited to 1,000 log-event lines and one project. Buying SEO Spider does not licence Log File Analyser.
Both paid licences are sold per user, per year. Screaming Frog offers quantity discounts according to the number of licences purchased; these are not separate feature tiers. At the time of writing (October 2026), the SEO Spider price for 1–4 licences was £199, $279 or €245 per user per year. For Log File Analyser, the listed 1–4-licence price was £99 per user per year, and its FAQ gave a single-licence price of $139 or €129. Check the relevant official Screaming Frog pricing page for the current price and available currency before ordering.
Annual licences do not auto-renew by default. Screaming Frog offers an auto-renew option during purchase, so note which option you select, especially if you are buying licences for a team.
What to prepare before checkout
- A Coinepay account and virtual card: register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. You can manage your card in the Coinepay app or 24/7 self-service dashboard.
- Your card details: Coinepay provides a virtual card number, expiry date and CVV. Retrieve the current details from your account when you are ready to pay.
- Enough available funds: Check the final amount shown at checkout, including any applicable taxes. If a currency conversion applies to your funding, check the amount available in your Coinepay account rather than relying only on the displayed licence price.
- Accurate billing information: Have your real name, billing address and an email address you can access. Enter the billing address associated with your card; do not use a made-up address to try to pass a payment check.
Screaming Frog states that its online checkout accepts most major credit and debit cards and PayPal, but that does not establish whether a particular virtual card will be accepted. If you need to confirm a card requirement before buying, contact Coinepay support.
How to buy a Screaming Frog licence
- Open the correct purchase flow. In SEO Spider or Log File Analyser, use Licence → Buy a licence, or go to that product’s purchase page on the official Screaming Frog website. If you are only testing SEO Spider’s Free version, you do not need to buy a licence or create a purchase account.
- Select the number of users. Choose enough licences for the people who need the paid application. Confirm that your basket contains SEO Spider or Log File Analyser, as intended; their licences are separate.
- Review renewal and currency. Choose whether to enable auto-renewal and select an available purchase currency. Read the order summary before continuing, since the price depends on the product, licence quantity and currency.
- Create your Screaming Frog account. Follow the online checkout prompts and use your real contact and billing details. Online-checkout customers can later use Screaming Frog’s account area to find licence keys, invoices and subscription information.
- Enter your Coinepay card details. Choose the card-payment option and enter the virtual card number, expiry date and CVV exactly as displayed in Coinepay. Check your billing address for spelling and postcode errors before submitting. If checkout presents an additional payment-authentication step, complete it through the legitimate instructions shown.
- Confirm and save your licence details. Review the final charge and submit the payment only when it is correct. Following a successful checkout, Screaming Frog displays the licence key and sends it by email. In the relevant application, go to Licence → Enter Licence Key and enter the supplied username and key.
If you are an eligible EU business outside the UK buying SEO Spider, check whether your valid VAT number belongs in Billing Information → Tax ID before you pay. Screaming Frog says it cannot remove or refund VAT after purchase if that number was omitted.
If your card is declined
A decline does not, by itself, identify the cause. Screaming Frog lists incorrect card details, a billing address mismatch and an issuer or payment-provider block—particularly for an international payment to the UK—as possible reasons. It also says it cannot see the reason an individual payment failed. Work through these checks without repeatedly submitting unchanged details:
- Insufficient available balance: Compare your available funds with the complete checkout total, not just the advertised licence price. Check any taxes or currency-conversion effects that may apply. If you need help understanding the card’s available balance or a declined attempt, contact Coinepay support.
- Card details or billing address mismatch: Re-enter the card number, expiry and CVV from your Coinepay account. Use your real billing details and correct any address or postcode typo. Screaming Frog specifically identifies a billing address that does not match the card as a possible decline cause.
- 3-D Secure or another authentication step: If checkout asks you to verify the payment, follow the prompt and do not close it prematurely. If the challenge fails, expires or never appears, ask Coinepay support to review the attempted payment; do not assume the card has a particular authentication capability.
- Merchant region or payment checks: If the checkout does not accept the combination of your location, billing details and card, do not substitute another person’s details or try to bypass the check. Ask Screaming Frog about its checkout requirements and contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets them. An international-payment block may also need review by the payment provider.
If a card payment remains unsuccessful, Screaming Frog says its support team can arrange a bank transfer as an alternative. Ask Screaming Frog directly about that process; do not send funds to payment details that have not been provided through its legitimate channels.
Manage renewal, records and refund requests
After an online purchase, sign in to the account area on Screaming Frog’s website to view Licence Keys, invoices and Subscriptions. If you enabled auto-renewal, use My Account → Subscriptions to cancel it. If you did not enable auto-renewal, the annual licence expires without a cancellation request. Purchases arranged by bank transfer or PayPal invoice do not create this online-checkout account.
For a website-purchased SEO Spider licence, Screaming Frog says to contact its support team within 14 days of purchase to request a full refund, providing your contact details, order number and reason. It does not offer pro-rata refunds for non-use. Its Log File Analyser FAQ also provides a full-refund route when support is contacted within 14 days of a website purchase. Keep your order confirmation so you can identify the purchase if you need help.
